One major thing that we failed to mention is that we were trying to impersonate characters from the 80's film, Strange Brew, with our accents, not Canadians as a whole. We have many friends from Canada, none of whom have accents, so please don't take offense, we were just trying to be silly, and in retrospect, perhaps took it too far. We love our Canadians SO SO SO MUCH. Please just know that this came from a good place, not in mockery! We have nothing but love for our Canadians!

As a Canadian I found this hilarious! And yes, Thrills gum tagline is what makes it better. Everyone knows what your talking about if you say soap gum here...lol. I love it! Oh and yes, we have been known to straight up drink maple syrup. That's not made up

I am Canadian and I laughed all the way through your video. We don't actually talk that way but like you said 'it's all in good fun'. I am glad you got to try some of our snacks. Thrills have always tasted like soap but for some reason we still ate them as kids. I was surprised to see them write that on the package. Now we just eat if for the nostalgia. MacIntosh Toffee used to come in a slab that was about 2.5 inch wide x 5 inches long and 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. You would put it in the fridge or freezer to make it rock hard and then smash it down on the counter to break it into many small pieces. It was too hard to bite pieces off the slab so we had to smash it. It sticks in your teeth but it was good. I always look forward to your videos. I like that you two have great chemistry and do some very silly things. There are people who are going to be offended but there are so many others of us who know it's in jest and laughed all the way though. Keep doing what you're doing.

EDITED* It was a play on the TV show SCTV. *That then made the personalities of Bob and Doug Mackenzie in a movie called Strange Brew. Its hilarious. I've met as many Canadians that don't know much all about the States.* Just as many times I've seen Americans portrayed in thinking we Canadians live in igloos and have pet polar bears. And there's still people that claim Canada isn't part of America, sigh. * Was edited due to my terrible run on sentences.

I think its because people literally think we talk like this now, i mean yes back east we have funny sounding accents and can't say car, harbour, house, or pronounce th correctly, but it can be a bit annoying when someone says oh, you actually sound normal? Or asks what country your from cause you dont have the stereotype accent. Its when people take a joke seriously that it hurts.

People get upset about it for the same reason that people get upset about mimicking stereotypical Asian or African accents. Not everyone from their respective countries have strong accents like that, and these days people treat generalization (even as a joke) like it's a horrible thing to do (unless it's against straight white males). The world is going downhill, you can't make jokes anymore.

Fun fact: When the French colonized Quebec the only spice or sweetner they had was maple syrup. This is why Quebec foods and candies use maple syrup as a replacement for sugar. I have even seen Quebec made cola that uses only maple syrup for a sweetner. But in Quebec you can easily find meat and potato pies made with maple syrup. If anyone ever ends up in Quebec during the spring maple syrup harvest, you have to go to something called a Sugar Shack. It will blow your mind with how good the food is (for a relatively cheap price). It is no joke some of the tastiest food in the entire world. Colonial desperation bread some serious creativity in flavours.
@mattbenz99
@mattbenz99 5 жыл бұрын
@Yanick Girouard I was talking about traditional French Canadian food. The French settlers would cover their meat in syrup, pour maple syrup over their potatoes, and use it to make pies. If you want to try traditional Quebec cooking, go find a sugar shack. There is a lot of maple syrup use in French Canadian cooking. I have even know French Canadians to pour a table spoon or 2 of maple syrup in most of their cooking just to give it a little extra sweetness. I have lived in Quebec all my life and Tourtiere and sugar pies are very common modern French food that still use maple syrup as an ingredient.

Depending on where you live, you'll find different accents all over Canada but this is close to the East Coast Newfoundland. My dad is from New Brunswick, and their accent where he's from, is similar to KY and GA. Great video, and sample of our foods. We do have the best maple syrup in the world, most of it comes from Canada. We all don't eat a lot of sugar, except in winter where it is freezing, and due to the shivering, sugar keeps us alive. I live about an hour away from the border to the US, and its so mind boggling going to the states. Your candy/chocolate is so different, your walmarts are 100x better, and honestly whats up with the Corn Bread everywhere? That and holy moly everything is so cheap. Subway here is close to $30 for two ppl. And why do you guys have Subway attached to walmarts? all of our walmarts have McDonalds attached.

😂😂being Canadian, I have to admit you definitely butchered the "accent" no offence taken whatsoever, but I give you full credits for constantly using the term "eh" 🤣🇨🇦
