Is the new saltwater just heated from the sun/ambient temperature? How would you handle this in the winter?
@GalleryAquaticaTV4 жыл бұрын
At this time of year the ambient temp is perfect, and in winter we heat the water. Summer is definitely the hardest time as it difficult to chill our water supply. I usually try to do waterchanges early in the morning before the day heats up too much. Cam

Great video as always and that was a big fish at the end. Hope they all stayed healthy and survived the ammonia spike. Great looking tank for sure.

Hi Cam, at the end you mentioned more fish will be introduced, fish that you have in store. Does that mean that you are deciding which fish are going to be in that tank? Or is it solely upon the owner to choose? Just wondering. Grz from the Netherlands
@GalleryAquaticaTV4 жыл бұрын
I certainly gave recommendations which they took. We have an eight foot tank full of large fish at the store so they had a good choice. Cam

Nice job saving the fish cam. Can you do a video of where you get your water from? I think that would be awesome to see Thank you.

Hi Jeff, we will definitely be doing this before the ending of the year. Cam

Did they not put bottled bacteria in the tank after the move? That usually does the trick for me.
@DavidDavis3114 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. But judging by the extreme level of overfeeding I don’t think the owner is very experienced.

Cam, I have to ask. What is a Yute (spelling)? Never heard that term for a vehicle being from America. Love your videos man. 👍
@acotyac4 жыл бұрын
Short for "utility" vehicles. Generic term equivalent to us saying "pickup"
@cegentry4 жыл бұрын
acotyac not sure why I couldn’t put that together. 😜 Thanks for the first clarification!

Nice job as a lot of people don’t realize that their ammonia can get out of control quickly when they liberally feed or don’t have the proper filtration to Handle their tank

Another great video :) How do you make up those hoses you use to connect to your IBC? Also do you create a siphon from the IBC to the pump before you turn it on? Thanks !
@GalleryAquaticaTV4 жыл бұрын
I use cam-locks to join my hoses/pumps/IBCs. If the pump and hose is not full of water, it all primes well when you open the IBC valve so no siphoning required. Cam

Do you not feel the tank needs to finish its cycle or the ammonia will spike again? I come from the belief that the cycle needs to happen and you can help speed it up with live bacteria, while dosing Prime to detoxify the ammonia/nitrite in the meantime until the bacteria colony builds up to handle it on its own and a water change only delays the bacteria propagation. You obviously have significantly more experience than myself, but that's always been my approach..bacteria and prime until ammonia/nitrite is 0, then wc and test daily to ensure no further spikes.
@GalleryAquaticaTV4 жыл бұрын
The tank was fully established before it was moved and it was moved in a way that should have preserved the bacterial populations. Ammonia has been an ongoing problem since the video, and we have done a number of things to mitigate this, including adding bacteria supplements. Cam

How did you initiate the siphon to empty rhe tank.. i take it you didnt suck on the hose?
@GalleryAquaticaTV4 жыл бұрын
I did suck on the hose. Whilst it’s not a great COVIDSafe look, I’m always careful not to share my hoses with others. Cam
@foxyrollouts4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Cam.. i tried to suck on an old garden hose that had 3 kinks in it and been out in the sun too long.. didnt work too well. You prob could get funky and dunk that end bit somehow and start the siphon.. and get water everyehere over the carpet and furniture. If you could dunk, then cap the end till your ready... hmmm. Valve on the end...i wonder.. my S 650 is empty.. soon it will begin..my first big tank Anyway.. good excercise.. if the business fails you will have some transferable skills
