There have got to be people out there stuck with bad Ferraris, like a Dino 308GT4 or a Mondial, who wants to end up with a vastly improved vehicle. Two cars who's bodies wrote checks that the mechanicals couldn't cash.

A Mondial EV would be epic!

I’ve had both, and I’m so conflicted by your suggestion. I’d be more inclined to convert if the gated shifter could integrated with the power delivery; the original car would ideally be “profiled” prior to conversion so the sounds, clutch action, torque curve etc were all faithfully reproduced and integrated.

20 kg lighter than a fuelled up Testarossa is pretty sweet. Only a bit heavier on a short track outing then :) Over time better battery modules will become available to either add range, reduce weight, or both.

F40 = $2,000,000. After EV conversion , I’m guessing 200 - 300k, so I can’t see it ever happening. It’s a bit like converting an old mechanical Rolex to electric, and probably why he hesitated when asked. This video caught my attention when he said he had the old Testarossa engines for sale.

6:56 - nice touch🤙back in 2018 i saw someone in the pits at the Drag Strip during a big race weekend with another famous car, a restored/Restomodded 1977 Black/Gold "Bandit" Pontiac T/A (technically it might've been a '78 from the "4 eyes" front fascia) but it had a mint black interior, a proper shifter, and the requisite T-Tops.😎 the only other subtle change (and you had to be looking closely to spot it) was the classic 15x7 "Snowflake wheels" were replicas that had been upsized +2 to 17 inches (so well before Jessie's Performance went +5 and made 20's) and it wore modern 245/45-17 Nitto NT555 rubber. as always i had my camera with me, the lighting was perfect, so i took detailed pics and (being one of my fave cars) 6 years later i still have these same pics on my phone.😁 to this day i still have no idea who the car belonged to, cause nobody was around at that moment to answer any questions, and i have yet to see it ever show up at the track again.

I appreciate what's being done with with e-hotrodding these days, and absolutely encourage those that have the means and desire to make their vehicle what they truly want it to be. I've personally considered swapping my old Chevy truck to an electric drive, just to be different than the thousands of hotrodded SBC or LS based versions of that vehicle that already exist. That said, the anti-combustion and anti-EV hate that seems to saturate these projects and their discussions is nauseating. The religious fervor that surrounds the topic clouds minds and annihilates the good will and appreciation that should exist among enthusiasts. To the petrolheads, I say: The car is faster, lighter, likely better handling, more efficient and less polluting. And, perhaps most importantly, it isn't YOUR car. Get over it. To the EV fanatics: There IS something to the argument that removing the original powertrain makes the car somehow... less. Cars like this are as much about the experience of the intake/exhaust noise and manually rowing through gears as they are about outside beauty and pure speed. Arguments about maintenance costs, efficiency, gm/km emissions, reliability and the like are practically moot. Shitbox economy cars driven tens of thousands of km per year have and will put out far more lifetime emissions than this car, and cars like it, ever will. Don't forget that while the powertrain is now cheap and efficient, every other part of the car is STILL a classic Ferrari, with commensurate repair and insurance costs.

@89five3five7 ай бұрын
Range on a Ferrari? When it had an engine, no one cared about range. Same sentiment should be when converted to EV. This not a daily driver…. It’s a balls out fun car.
@4literv67 ай бұрын
4 small pack's to allow for better than stock weight distribution, totalling about 62kwhs useable as covered by Richard in the video! Perf is 0-60mph in mid 3s range covered in an older video by ecc on the conversion itself. 1/4mile and top speed not discussed. I voted for him to get Matt from carwow to cover these racing against his older also ev converted 308gtE. 😀 Range is est at 150+hwy miles. Although Richard and a customer took the first 2 of these on a 1,900+miles jaunt into the alps also covered on his channel recently. So he should have a much better answer to the actual realised hwy range now. 😎
@timoliver89407 ай бұрын
If you watch Richard’s channel there is a video of the 2 Testarossa’s going to Switzerland and a cost/efficiency comparison on the video. The differences in cost/mile and CO2 emissions between the petrol and electric versions is mind blowing.

17:56 - A: yes please. okay sold, while i certainly might consider swapping the "Berlinetta Boxer" for an electric drivetrain, however as someone deeply involved in Motorsports/Racing i'd never sell the engine since the value of the car comes from it's VIN being matched to its engine's Serial #. yeah, NO WAY IN HELL would you catch any "true Tifosi" selling off their engine, not on your life, as those GROSS MISTAKES are reserved for the "noobs", "rubes", and "laymen" to the Auto Industry... i mean if you've ever been to "Museo Ferrari" (or seen photos) you'll notice how the Scuderia ex-Formula One V12, V10, and V8 engines are displayed like "sculptures" and "works of art" (which they are). so that's how i'd roll, i'd restore the engine (cosmetically at a minimum) and display it on a stand, and if i didn't have the room to display it...? i'd either MAKE THE ROOM...!? BUILD A DEDICATED ROOM FOR IT...!? or just sell my home and MOVE to a different place altogether...!!!🤣 cause logic dictates if you're in the market to buy a "Red Head"...? or are already fortunate to own a "Red Head"...? then what you're telling us SIMULTANEOUSLY without speaking a word is that "you're papered up" (think famed super collector David Lee) which then additionally means YOU'RE ALL OUT OF EXCUSES for not approaching it in the manner i just outlined. hey i was watching Crocket and Tubbs on Miami Vice back in the mid-80's when the original Daytona "Hero Car" was lost, and then got it's famous "Testarossa upgrade" same as everybody else.🤑
