Thank you for sharing your wonderful creations. It is a joy to me to see what others make. I have been an intentional minimalist for years and still have to much stuff. It's time to purge again. I donate my items to the local thrift shop which has very cheap resale prices so affordable to anyone. A good winter coat is only 3 dollars for adult and 2 dollars for child. 25 cents for a plate or bowl etc. I have outfitted my grandchildren many times over with many items with original store tags still on them. They grow out of their clothes in 8 months and we take good care and they can be donated again and reused by someone else. My granddaughter will get clothes there and redesign and sew them to fit. Much cheaper than buying fabric , buttons, zippers and elastic. Pluse you can remove these items from the free pile and use them in your own clothing making. It is good to learn these valuable lessons young.

my mom wanted to start knitting when she gave up smoking. buying enough wool for a sweater actually somehow costs more than buying a sweater from a mid-range shop. so i have a pro tip, never tried it myself but i probably should. when you go to vintage clothes shops, look for super extra large knitwear that you like the color of. my mom found this supersized male burgundy sweater, color was gorgeous, and some large grey-ish vest (that colored gray that you sometimes get, you would have loved both). she paid 3 or 4 dollars on both and did three sweaters and a vest :)) the thing is that you find something that unravels well (doesn't have seams). but you save 90% and can find some top quality merino out there

Love your purchases. And I love when you share your knitting FO. I always have a project on my needles and love to make all my own winter wear or to give FOs away to people who need them. I get great pleasure out of dyeing my own yarn as well. I love what you said regarding embracing the imperfections of our creations. I wholly agree with you. And I must say that I could not live without the 'whole' book reading experience of touch, smell, sound, and sight. There's nothing quite so satisfying!

Watching from the Philippines! Been a minimalist for five going six years now, but I've been into crafting and art since early 2000s while still at college and it was difficult to combine the two at first but I later came to realize that it is still possible to merge your hobby and live an intentional simple lifestyle. I have never discarded my tools and wares, instead I keep them organized and neatly packed into partition boxes only to unpack when the mood is very fitting to create and it really works when there is a lot of space around you it affects everything as well. I am enjoying this enjoying this channel so far, always glad to know different perspectives on the subject once in awhile.

Dear Ana, thanks for sharing this video on mindful buying and dyiing things. This christmas i made tote bags, books (using fabric) about the nativity, wordsearch and a few fun other activiy for my grandnieces. For wrappers, i reused paper bags by gluing christmas wrappers on the outerside and put the goodies into it. For the adults, i made treats as gifts such as fruitcake and cookies. It was a relief as i was stressed about going out and picking things for them at the malls!

This brought back the memories of my mom buying huge ugly knit sweaters in second hand stores. She used to buy them ones made of good quality yarn, she'd undo them, spin the yarn around chair legs, wet them and leave to dry, to make the yarn straight again. Albeit it was my brother and i who were responsible for spinning the yarn around the chair legs and then spinning the yarn back into balls. Used to bloody hate it then, but omg the pieces she could knit. I didn't always apreciate a handmade sweater, as in easter block you'd want everything other kids were wearing, i.e. cheap colourful synthetic clothes from regular markets. Looking at the pictures now i realize how different i actuslly looked. Wow.

I think that a year of no-buy should be preceded by years and years of cluttering with things you just have no chance to use up. Otherwise it will give you the opposite effect. Instead of freeing you, it will make you feel overly restricted. I like an idea of not buying certain items during specific time. This way you will have time to evaluate what you really need and make a list of such things. Thank you for showing your jewelry, those are so pretty 😍

Hi Ana, yes, I agree that we can find much happiness in making important decisions on what to buy and what not to buy. Minimalists are certainly not impulse shoppers! I'm an enthusiastic cyclist and this month I purchased new cycling shoes and a new saddle. I found substantial discounts too! I call myself an urban forager. Americans are often wasteful, and believe it or not, when I go for walks I occasionally find good quality clothing items just lying on the sidewalks. Over the years I've collected three or four nice jackets, t-shirts, pants, gloves, and sweatshirts. About 20% of my go-to wardrobe are items I've found. I've also found a really nice, attractive, fully functional table lamp and an expensive chef's knife for the kitchen. Where I live the city features a yearly event called Art Trails. For a week or so local artists open their studios up to visitors. You get to see not only their finished work but where and how its made. All kinds of artists and crafts people participate. It's a lot of fun to drive around visiting their workshops.

I loved the broches. So nice. And I totally agree with you on the fact that things also have a spirit/energy. And touching them is a wonderful exchange of energies. I love it. I bought some beautiful thick oker knitting wool. I am so excited. For now I am looking at them, feel and smell them. And I am choosing a nice pattern I have never done. I will need to be focused and present while knitting instead of the hypnotizing flow of my simple stitches but I can not wait to start.

Funny, right before watching this video I made myself a new necklace and bracelet out of bookbinding thread. I love bracelets, but because I do a lot of things with my hands and have several health issues, the bracelets I had weren't something I could wear. They were beaded and pretty, but too clunky. But I can wear light dainty ones if they are cloth or a softer thread. Yarn hurts or itches, unfortunately, but this bookbinding string worked well. It was colorful thread, so it has a fun vibe. That little cloth one you got from the artisan is pretty and practical. My parents didn't teach me much, but working with what you've got is something I picked up along the way. :) Hope you have a great day!

In 2021 my challenge was no new clothes. I did well so in 2022 I’m continuing that. I’m adding another challenge of no dining out. I can have a cup of coffee in a coffee shop or if my husband wants to take me out for food. Love your channel and content. 😁

Hello! Yes I'd be very interested a having you review the books. I love books so much and prefer the experience of having a book instead of an E book. Take care!

ive tried minimalism off and on a lot, but the creative spin you put on things really has clicked for me. I have very few things now and continue to get rid of them. I'm progressively left with things that I've either made, or are from iran or my past in general. i know theres a lot of content out there, but you uniquely fill a niche that i havent been able to find anywhere else, and I relate to you a lot. it's very helpful. im also not super girly but im fueled by textures and colors and inspiration. knitting a green loose balaclava hood right now because i feel best in layered neutrals but with splashes of green accents. i only know this with your help, so thank you

Happy holidays & new year Anna! I started my low buy year last month but I did purchase a few things I needed that I was putting off until I got some holiday gift cards at work. And I finally was able to get those items without having to spend my own $. Its a good thing to treat urself to things that actually make u happy.
