I'm seeing a lot of great feedback about the price and shipping, as well as 8BitDo's various competing models. Let's break it down: - Anbernic RG P01: $18 MSRP + $12 avg shipping = $30. I agree that it's dumb they separated the shipping, and it is deceiving. This is why I framed the controller as being around $25-$30 in the video -- this kind of marketing (understandably) rubs customers the wrong way. The shipping also stacks, so $12 shipping for one controller, $24 shipping for two. They should have just marketed it as a $30 controller, and that will likely be its price when it hits Amazon in the next few weeks. - 8BitDo Ultimate BT = $70. This model is the closest to the Anbernic RG P01 in terms of functionality. X-input, 2.4GHz USB dongle, and Switch compatibility. This one has a larger battery, higher polling rates, and comes with a charging dock, so it's not a perfect 1:1 comparison, but it is also over twice the price of the Anbernic (even after their dumb shipping). - 8BitDo Ultimate 2C = $30. This is a USB dongle controller, that can work with BT in some circumstances (like with Android), but doesn't have the same wide X-input functionality and isn't compatible with Switch. This is a great controller if you are just looking for PC gaming, since you can use that USB dongle. - 8BitDo Ultimate C BT = $30. This is a Switch-only controller that has the Switch ABXY pattern, but isn't compatible with PC or Android -- it's still a nice option if you are looking for Switch only. - GameSir Nova Lite = $25. This one is very close to the Anbernic RG P01, with a hardshell case. It doesn't have full Switch compatibility (no gyro and no wake from sleep), but in all other respects it's very close to the RG P01, and a really great budget controller too. Of note, after giving my feedback to Anbernic from this review, they have already created a firmware update for the controller that will remember your RGB light setting. They shared the firmware file with me yesterday and it is working as expected, and they will have it up on their software repo soon.

In my rather small meaning opinion, it is sign of substandard and sadness, that manufactures are putting eye candy over quality/design. The fact you can turn off the RG P01 LEDs at all--even if it requires pressing a a button 15-16 times--is a HUGE game changer.

It seems like a really good value. One thing that intrigues me is the way you can program the back buttons on the fly instead of using, for example, 8BitDo ultimate software to setup profiles. The hotkey to swap the face buttons could come in handy occasionally. Having options for connectivity seems nice too. I like bluetooth when it's working well and it's nice not having to deal with a dongle. But sometimes the simplicity of just plugging in the dongle or wire is nice, especially if you're using it to game at someone else's house. For me it always comes down to the little things that are hard to understand until you have it. The RGB behavior is one of those little things and it's nice to know about that before paying for it. I might buy one, it's definitely worth the money. At this point, the real question is if it's worth a spot in my collection. If they had decided to put a disk style dpad on it like they have on their RG cubes I'd pick one up for sure because it would set it apart from my other controllers. I've been enjoying the disk pad on my 8BitDo M30, but that controller is fairly limited. Well, now that Anbernic has a controller when is 8BitDo going to drop a handheld?

I do really appreciate that universal connectivity, makes it pretty attractive for a long trip controller to connect to all the devices you might take. Not sure why 8bitdo is so limited on their Ultimate controller series, maybe for sales? I have the SN30 and Pro 2 so I know they can do it, just would be nice for one of their more Switch/Xbox layout controllers.

I’ve never been one to consider buying an “off brand” controller rather than just buying from Xbox or PlayStation, but this controller looks awesome. The price alone makes it super appealing.

Thinking of 3rd party controllers as 'off-brand' was true back in the day, but that's not really the case any more. Sure, there are ultra-budget options you could call off-brand, but the majority of 3rd party controllers are either equivalent quality/features (to 1st party) but cheaper price, or equivalent price, but extra features. And the 3rd party controllers which are MORE expensive than official are miles better in every way...

low-midrange controllers around $40 already run laps around the stock controllers, going for something in the $60 price range gets you so much more than any of the stock controllers ever could

This is a great deal. I wish it came out before i bought my 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth, but im quite happy with the ultimate. The dock is probably the most compelling reason to get the 8bitdo ultimate over this.

If the gamepad supports motion control on switch, does it support motion control on PC? Sometimes this requires putting the controller into pairing mode intended for switch, then pairing on your PC. The steam client would then detect the device as a switch controller. Could you tell us if this works?

I like that the buttons are big like the Switch controllers. Rarely see big buttons.

Ordered from their website directly, was wanting to buy another controller, this’ll tire me over until the 8bitdo Pro 3 whenever that comes out
@VictorRodriguez-gc4xv2 ай бұрын
by the way regarding the triggers, it has the same travel distance like the 8bitdo ultimate 2C, not the ultimate, which is funny cuz it does have the back buttons, which the 2c doesn’t have

Why couldn't Anbernic make the logo purple or black on the white and lavender controller? As for the Radiant Purple that almost looks like a Maroon Purple controller.

They definitely have some very similar to gba. The 35xxsp is super close and they have a horizontal one with shoulders and the 4x3 aspect ratio with a d pad and face buttons.

The "having to press 16 times to turn off the RGB" thing is what was the dealbreaker for me. Great price, but RGB drives me insane.

Thankfully they've already created a memory setting, so this won't be an issue. It should be up on Anbernic's software repo in the next few days
