Heath Ledger's death was a result of acute intoxication caused by a combination of prescription medications. The autopsy revealed that he had taken a mixture of painkillers, anti-anxiety medications, and sleeping pills. Some of the specific drugs found in his system included oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine. It's important to note that Ledger had been struggling with insomnia and anxiety, and the medications he took were prescribed to him by different doctors. The combination of these drugs, along with potential issues related to their dosage and interactions, ultimately led to his accidental overdose.

I don't think it was disgust. Inmates in general put up a mean face all the time for reputation/survival reasons, it's as simple as that. And if the officer had wanted to blow up the other boat he would've. The reason he handed the detonator to the inmate was to transfer the power of deciding whether the other boat blows up to someone else. That doesn't necessarily mean he intended to blow up the other boat, it could just mean he didn't want to take part in the decision.
@staygoner8 сағат бұрын
@@ultimate0706 Is it really that big of a difference when the officer was quite clearly convinced that the inmate WAS going to blow up the other boat anyways? He's not giving him "the part in the decision", he's planning to make his part of the decision be the responsability of someone else. Plus, the inmate said "you can tell them I took it by force", implying that no, he couldn't do it himself but was okay with blaming the inmate because that mean he wouldn't be seen as responsible for the murder. Hell, he even looked surprised when the detonator was thrown out the window. Officer had 0 doubts that the inmate was gonna kill them all, his goal was to pin the blame on a convict, it's as simple as that.

@@lukecrawford1215 No, that would be more like depression. Its possible that a person could no longer care about anything in the world at the point and just decide to do whatever they want, but they wouldn't go crazy. How you drive people into madness, you have to make them feel like they are never safe or never alone. Every moment, their looking over their shoulder as if someone is watching them. Walk by random people on the street thinking, 'one of these people could be looking to kill me, mug me, spying on me or are following me.' People that come back from war often come back broken and driven into madness because for a few months, a year, or years, they have always been paranoid of when the next bomb will hit, where the next enemy ambush is, will they ever make it back alive, and so on. Madness is more subjective to your awareness of self and surroundings than it is to loss.

When Batman secures Joker upside down, the camera slowly rotates to make Joker right side up for us, but has Gotham in background upside down. It puts us in Joker's point of view. He's sees the world upside down in real life
@susane84 жыл бұрын
my 2 cents, i think the joker saw the world as it is. its a two faced world, with the right technique anyone can be exposed as crooked. we are the ones with the distorted view of an inherently good world.
@anxiousearth6804 жыл бұрын
@@susane8 Practicality is a blessing. If you rationalise what we consider good and evil, you see that good has benefits regardless of ideology. And evil is simply unsustainable. And imo, the distortion of an otherwise functioning mind can actually come from the desire to be good. It's hardbaked into how we function. So when someone does something wrong they are forced to deal with the contradiction by twisting the definition of 'good'. A liar thinks that everyone's as deceitful as he is. The Joker thinks he's on a crusade to reveal the 'truth' of the world. Two-Face thinks he's being truly just and unbiased by basing his actions on random chance. At least that's my take on it.
@malachi98213 жыл бұрын
@@anxiousearth680 Your comment made me realize that TwoFace bases his 50/50 rationale on how Batman saved him. Batman had to chose Harvey or his girlfriend to save which is basically a coin toss. While Batman actually chose Rachel to save, the Joker lied about the address Rachel was at. This forced Harvey to be saved so he could be turned into the next villain to sow chaos. Big brain plays everywhere in this movie.

2:50 The visual storytelling is masterful here and no one even notices it. Joker is hanging upside down, because we and Batman believe he's been defeated, but when he monologues, the camera begins to rotate to make it look like Joker is upright, above Gotham, meaning that he's actually on top, his plan has won, and Batman doesn't even know it. Pretty masterful stuff
@aarenavery7151Ай бұрын
I actually see it as the direction of both Joker and Batman also depicts how they see Gotham. Both Joker and Batman are right side up, however in the distance behind Joker, Gotham is upside down. Batman on the other hand sees Gotham as he tells Joker, one that is ready/willing to hope. It isn’t so much to me of who’s on top, but how they perceive Gotham. This to me is about their “point of view”.

I always get chocked up watching this scene. Right at the part where Joker says “I think you and I, are destined to do this forever.” 3:20 And it’s not because Ledger died too soon. It’s because after all the incarnations of Batman, whether it’s the old Adam West 1960’s Batman show or the Tim Burton, Jack Nicholson Joker. Or the many episodes of the Mark Hamill Batman animated series and even the Batman Arkham video game franchise. No matter what version of Batman you grew up with, Batman and Joker have always acted like this dysfunctional married couple. And they literally will continue to do the same thing forever. Joker gets caught and Batman locks him away, and then Joker breaks out of jail and the whole process repeats. And we as Batman fans will watch every incarnation of this, and love every second of this. I am forever grateful that I got to witness all these variations of Batman in my lifetime!

This movie and this actor truly, TRULY understood the character of the Joker. While Juaquin's acting was also incredible, the Joker is ultimately not about mental illness. He's not about biting back at society. He's about showing people that the meaninglessness of life should outweigh social norms. He's about chaos. And he will show Batman, who upholds merciless order, that chaos is the right way to go. Or die. And win.
@masterpenguin84722 жыл бұрын

That's what'd killed Heath Ledger. He was a "method actor"; such actors have a reputation of actually being the person who he or she is portraying, in order to get the desired effect on the screen. Heath Ledger used a series of drugs with the intent of literally driving himself insane, so that he could play the Joker the way he'd wanted to. Unfortunately, he couldn't pull out of it; he'd inadvertently killed himself in the vain attempt to please us, the typical unappreciative audience. May God bless his soul; may God forgive us.

"All it takes is a little PUSH" Those last few seconds of Heath as the joker was absolute cinema gold. The way he delivered that line in such a fluent swinging motion, combined with the soundtrack. Your mind already knows what the Joker and Two-Face has done and is about to do, but in that singular moment your heart sinks with the weight of what it means. You feel pushed into the depths of the depravity, madness and internal rage of the next few minutes. Batman didn't just save Jim Gordon's son, he saved everyone watching that final scene with the coin toss.
