Went to a competing guitar shop chain in Reading and, because I am freakishly tall, was able to source a "top shelf" Gibson to try out. No sooner had I lowered it to strumming position before a man came and asked me what I was doing, why was I taking instruments off the wall, etc. It wasn't even an overly expensive one. Andertons has spoiled me with being able to touch and taste all sorts of high priced strung wonderness ... and I now will not shop anywhere else.

Poor british fellas - get on that french train to cross that pool of water and come to thomann. You'll find that some shops are good, great even... yet thomann is on a completely different level. The whole of Anderton's would fit within thomann's drums department, leaving room to spare. I'm talking real drums - the whole of Anderton's would also fit within thomann's electrical drums department, which is a different place altogether. I'm sure Anderton's is a good shop - but if Anderton's is 'great', thomann is 'heavenly', just by virtue of comparison. Still, the video content of Anderton's, to me, is vastly superior, which makes Anderton's the more entertaining youtube shop for sure - credit to the Captain, Rob, Bea, Joss and of course Pete. Especially Pete.

I've been playing guitar for nearly 5 years now, and it has been awesome watching the Anderton"s crew along the way. Probably the first guitar related content I found on KZbin. It's impossible to state how much of an impact it has had on my guitar playing journey so far; Bea is one of my absolute favorite guitar players, Danish Pete is incredible, Chappers is a beast. It has also been rewarding to see Lee improving so much as I learned at the same time. The Anderton"s store looks incredible too, the brand everyone has managed to build (especially as other brick and mortar music stores struggle) is really a testament to how important it is to connect with your customers on a more personal level. Even though I've never met any of the guys, watching the videos for so long has made Anderton"s seem like a hometown music store, even though I live in the Southern US! Same for Riff City as well. Keep it guys, and I ever make it to England, Anderton's will be paid a visit!

It always strikes me odd when I see the inside of buildings in the United kingdom. Watching the walkthrough of your music seems so funny because the ceilings are really low. I wish we had something like an Andertons here in Australia. The closest we have is Allans/Billy Hyde, which has a pretty big store in Melbourne, but in terms of guitars in their brick and mortar store, they stock 95% Gibson and Epiphone, with only a few Yamaha, Kramer and Sterling (with some second-hand guitars of various brands available online - I don't know about you, but I wouldn't buy a second hand guitar without trying it first). If you want literally any other brand you have to hope that one of the few small stores that are scattered around the suburbs stocks it (which they probably won't).

I like Andertons but was annoyed that, when looking for a bass guitar, was unable to access the bass room because a guitarist was using it as a demo room to shred away at full volume - even though the guitar practise rooms were available. I don't know why they were in there, but they were for a while. Unfortunately, when I spoke to them, the staff were not helpful, which is a shame as they normally are. I then left the store and bought my bass guitar elsewhere.

What you really should do is actually make some videos with all the instruments you can't play (well). Kind of like the lefty/righty challenge, except you've got a saxophone or drum kit in front of you. It's no fun seeing nothing but competent playing from you lot :D

The first time I heard of Martin Taylor I wondered if that was his real name. He actually doesn't play either (or Gibson) -- all the pictures of him show him with little-known arch-top guitars. But there are pictures of people wearing Taylor (guitar company) T-shirts on his website.

That was fun guys - Geez, go figure - a tour of nothing but shiny expensive toys for us boys (I just turned 69 on July 29 and have been playing guitar and keyboards for 57 years), hosted by two of the best for fun and info, what could be better!

Can you please make a proper video showcasing the drum department? I've got a huge shopping list and am about to move back to the UK. It would be lovely to see the shop before driving half-way across the country for a day's shopping :) Cheers.

Hi Captain & Chappers! I'm writing from Portugal and I've never had a chance to visit the store but I've been following the Andertons channel for more than 4 years now and it's the best channel about guitar reviews on youtube! Congrats! I wanted to know if you plan on doing a review on the PRS S2 line since the are the mid-range (more or less) of PRS and there are not a lot of videos around! Have a good one, Cheers!

That schecter Jeff Loomis or Jackson warrior dave Davidson would've been perfect for sounds like dimebag Darrell, but sadly they were signatures, and the rule was no sigs. Y'all should revoke that rule, just saying. I want to visit England one day and on my list of things to do is visit Anderton's.

Capt Lee has to be a Time Lord and the Anderton's store is his Tardis. It's so small on the outside, but it has a massive amount of room on the inside. It also explains the Bob Moog thing.

I thought of another anniversary idea while I was at work today. Your challenge is for both of you to build your rig with all second-hand gear, guitars, pedals, amps, everything. No new stuff is allowed. You are only allowed to shop from the Andertons second-hand gear.

I think Rob & the captain should set up their own full band rigs including bass, drums and keyboards. Then jam their full respective rigs to see who's best.

You've got a really cool music store. If I'm ever in the UK, I'll definitely visit Andertons. Cheers from NC, USA.

Kent guitars. I had one of their 335-looking hollowbody basses in high school. Sounded like a bullfrog croaking through a torn speaker, no matter what amp I used.
