I’ve seen this play through probably over 100 times already. Matt is an absolute beast of a player, from feel, pocket, coordination, and just raw skill, dude is a huge inspiration of mine. I recommend his amazing work with his other group Trioscapes, he goes full beast mode on the digital dream sequence play through. Salud!

His setup is very similar to how Sean had his kit setup. The floor tom is positioned in very close to the rack toms and snare. I changed my kit to this configuration but I was still having issues transitioning to the floor tom with my left hand on solo strokes until I realized how tall he had the floor tom setup. As soon as I changed that on my kit I could easily reach the floor tom with my left hand. It made the floor tom work more like a rack tom. You'll also notice he has the floor tom at a pretty good angle which also makes the transition much easier. Love this guys work! great video!!

@@AndrewRooneyDrums It's interesting that you mention "through composed". Apart from the obvious master technique (i.e. the limb independence, the precision), it sounds like this (as well as the aforementioned "Twisted Shadows" play though) have a composed element to them. So great...

I second Twisted Shadows. It's not everyday when my favorite composer Richard Henshall is accompanied with a solo by The Wizard Jordan Ruddess and it gets overshadowed by a drummer.

Matt's jamming is phenomenal. He has such a relaxed and calm, fluid style. The way he utilises his wrists is something to behold. I must say, I've never seen such a long clutch-rod on a high hat before. I wonder what that's all about? He could probably use another clamp for another small cymbal on there. :)

Excelente castellano máster te la rifaste, saludos desde Bolivia, muy buena reacción y además recomendación... Me vuela la cabeza ese tipo de bandas, te recomiendo hagas un video de Mike Portnoy más precisamente de Dream Theater. La canción es beyond this life live in budokan, es un poco larga pero es excelente y tiene un poderoso jam donde Portnoy hace una batalla contra los otros instrumentos, te deja atónito. Saludos.
