I saw this band in Wembley supporting INXS during live baby live. The King is half undressed was the first song i heard. Absolutely fabulous, cutting edge quirky poppy rock. I was hooked, and both albums hold up well over time. Would live to see this band doing a world small venue tour.

They were amazing, saw them in Seattle twice in the 90s, sad they couldn't keep it together.

Would love to hear the rest of this. Never heard Andy speak before. Would love to hear his thoughts on Jellyfish now. He and Roger really created two magical records. The second is almost objectively the best album of all time. 😊

It is a little Spinal Tap ish. When Derek Smalls says how extraordinary it was to have two visionary's in one band. And they would fight in the studio.

Queen as an influence. The first time I heard "Killer Queen", I thought it was a new Jellyfish song!!!!

Imagine if he toured with Queen rather than Adam Lambert! That would be insane! Andy actually did a splendid demo of We Are The Champions which sounds just wonderful. I Implore you listen to it if you havent.

which song was easy to write, which was hardest to finish? Nice when the interviewer asks a great question.

I thought I was going nutz... I find myself asking, WHERE DID ANDY GO?? all the time. Such a wonderful talent working with Roger. One day I hope they try again, but I can see how disillusioning the industry makes brilliant artists like them. Just love their music and vocal talent.

He seems to have kept working, but far out of the public eye. Wrote a bunch of music for cartoons (Teen Titans & Ben 10 theme songs, among others), worked with some Japanese pop artists, wrote some children's music. That's as much as I know. He's marvelous, I miss hearing his work. One of the most perfect voices ever.

Sturmer, apparently, refuses to give interviews on any topic, and is especially resistant to discussing Jellyfish. I can understand that because, brilliant as Jellyfish was, life in that band sounded like a nightmare.

My understanding is that Manning and Sturmer were super-intense and absolutely relentless when it came to getting the sound they wanted. Although they produced two amazing records they nearly drove themselves mad in the process, and spent so much money they virtually guaranteed they'd never see much of a profit. Craig Dorfman tells a story that, at one point during recording "Spilt Milk", they wanted to purchase *custom bass strings*, something unlikely to make any difference to 99.9% of listeners. They harassed the hell out of Jason Falkner for having the temerity to explain to them that plucking a string upwards was going to produce the same sound as plucking it downwards, a move guaranteed to tick off their great guitarist without securing a single advantage. Rehearsals were grueling, as they insisted that their road-sound be nearly identical to the recordings, even though very few music fans, I think, really expect that. Manning and Sturmer were incredibly talented, no one can deny it, but I think they made the perfect the enemy of the good, and they collapsed under the weight of their own unreasonable expectations.
