Whisky.com reviews the Angel's Envy Port Wine Finish. Angel's Envy - the envy of angels - is one of the few Kentucky straight bourbons with post-maturation in sweet wine barrels. During the almost six years of aging in the barrels, around five percent of the alcohol evaporates, a small part that is also called 'Angel's Share'.

You know you're successful if you have haters lmao. It really is different from a lot of bourbon. I get a lot of chocolate along with the fruit as I drink it. I've tried tons of whiskeys and this one is great! The single barrel is even better.

It's only available for German and Austrian customers but you don't miss out much; imo, the Glencairn is better, I feel like the flavours are much more intense in it.

My understanding of American liquor laws is that this isn’t actually bourbon anymore after it’s finished in other barrels that aren’t fresh charred American oak. It can’t be called bourbon, which is why the label has to say “bourbon finished in port wine barrels”. I think this is true for all bourbons finished in other non fresh charred barrels.

The front label on my bottle says "KENTUCKY STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY" just like any other bourbon.

@@lyacoubian -- No, you are wrong about what YOUR bottle says (said, if the bottle is now gone). It says/said "Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished In Port Wine Barrels." I know this because that is what all their "bourbon" bottles say. The person you replied to is correct: the US government regulations say that if bourbon is finished in a barrel that contained other contents it is no longer just "bourbon" but "bourbon plus something else." It is literally illegal to label the bottle as "bourbon" without specifying the "something else" right as part of the name (in other words, you can't just put the stuff about finishing on a label on the back of the bottle).
