That was a really nice red homey. I landed a 42.5” bull red at PINS today. I picked it over the third bar & drug it in on 17 lb mono. That was a long pull & heck of a good fight.

Why would you use black drum as bait? Just get mullet. Granted black drum aren’t considered game fish, but using it as bait is kind of sacrilegious. It’s a good eating fish that deserves better than being used as bait

Your not too far from lake Livingston & Trinity River. Want a big alligator garfish? I routinely catch 50-80 lb fish. Last one I caught 6'6" long 100 lbs plus,broke brand new rod on one fish lol. Contact me if interested for a video? I grew up there Texas City,know the Duke well. Left side between the hill and the first pier is a sand bar island about 80 yards out. Commonly fished off of. High tide you might be standing on 3-4 spot of island,but relatively safe.

It prevents the bait from flying off at the start of the cast. Most of the time, the weight has so much inertia, that they force of the weight pull causes a whiplash on the bait. That makes the bait fly off.

Yeah that's my shimano tranx 400. It was just an experimental setup. It casts very far, just no clicker.
