@@johnniewaiker6203 Marvel is Disney. What they did, prior to phase bore, was set up a connected cinematic universe through each successive film. Nothing lasts forever though and that formula more or less ran its course, on top of the increasingly glaring creative bankruptcy present in their writing rooms. What the MCU did was not "sequel baiting" which is exactly what the endless content factories are now. One of the Russo brothers even came out a while back saying Marvel/Disney had no plan just like Daisy Ridley said about the sequels. To hold something to a standard is not hating. To hold something to a high standard is to love something and want greatness from it. So if you want to say we are simply "haters" then we can your rationalizing and blind acceptance makes you a pushover and a dupe.

The fact Vader didn’t execute Reva makes the episode absolutely horrible. Vader literally killed an Admiral because he jumped too close to a planet, you think he wouldn’t kill a Force user they know to be powerful and he knew wanted to kill him when they literally have an order of Inquisitors who’s sole purpose is to scour the Galaxy to extinguish the Jedi. It was pathetic enough the grand inquisitor didn’t kill her for her insolence in episode 1 or 2 (the one she killed him in I don’t remember) but this was just ridiculous.

My thoughts exactly, when he stood over her with the two lightsabers I was like OHH SHIT he's gonna chop her head off. Nope, he stabbed her in the stomach, at that point I was like ehh maybe it'll still kill her because that's how Qui-gon died. But no of course she survived, I'm actually pissed because there's no shot the real Vader would've let her live. Disney star wars is a knock off and I don't even see it as canon lmao.

See, now, there were problems with this episode, but what is most grievous about this episode was the potential it showed that the whole series COULD have had. Imagine if the WHOLE SHOW had been Obi-wan helping the rebels while playing mind chess with Vader and they never actually engaged with each other because Obi was always a step ahead, and every episode also had flash back segments to various lessons Obi tried to teach Anakin that parallel the episode. Also watching Vader catch a freighter with his mind and then tear it's hull apart with a swipe of his hand was pretty sick, gotta admit.

Why would he have not crashed the first ship into the other ship JUST TO BE SURE?! The real win of the episode though, was Vader kicking Reva's ass without even needing to draw his own blade.

I feel like the show called Obi-Wan has to be focused on Obi-Wan. They should dived deeper into the trauma and guilt that he has after order 66. He should be shown reconnecting with the force and finding balance. I feel like Reva should have been contained in its own show. Revas story does not need to have Obi-Wan in it and it could be ANY jedi and it would not change. It feels like they tried to shove the ideas in two separate shows (arguably both great by themselves).

Reva would've been a good stand alone show to give her character depth and it would be interesting having detailed episodes of her doing terrible things but only for her one motivation to try to get close and kill vader. It would be a great way to have a star wars show where the main character isn't a good guy. And it would also be an interesting way to see someone apposing the empire without being connected to the creation of the rebellion or a member of the rebellion. Plus a show about an Inquisitor would also be interesting and a story like this would make sense since Inquisitors were former Jedi/padawan and a lot of them probably lost a lot of friends during order 66 so of course at least some of them would want revenge on palpatine or vader. They could've made her own show with her convincing some other Inquisitors to defect and try to take down vader/palpatine from the inside only to fail kind of like operation Valkyrie during ww2

It's funny you mentioned Cal in the beginning of this when talking about episode 4. When I watched the beginning of episode 4, and the guy said that no one has ever been inside, I was like "yeah one guy has been." I know there were rumours of a live action Cal Kestis, and I thought this would be their way of introducing him and he guide them through. But after watching how this season is going, I'm glad they didn't. I like Cal and don't want his character to be tainted by the mediocre writing.

It's worse, the troopers only manage to shoot 1 single rebel and the trooper literally has to barrel stuff him in the chest. A female rebel gets shot but is rescued by obi wan so shes fine. Meaning that 1Male, the droid and tala are the only ones who died in the entire gun fight. Even the scorpion droids from boba fett wernt this bad. Atleast the droids only had 2 guns. Theres like 100 troopers who all miss

Bail Organa could’ve just said something like “if I don’t hear from you, I’m going to check on someone” and Obi-Wan would’ve known exactly what he meant. He KNOWS Luke is on Tattooine, that was his entire job. Instead because of dumb plot decisions Bail has to yell where he’s going and what he’s doing for the entire galaxy to hear. Definitely loved this episode the most though out of the series, mostly due to the flashback scene and Vader pulling a starkiller.

Every episode is like more stupid shit. Yeah they did many things right on recent one and yet this episode left me with more questions than infamous episode 4. Why Bail Organa sent Obi-Wan message with so much specifics about the children? Wasn't it too reckless? How did he know Vader will be looking for kids, is he aware that Vader is Anakin and he's alive? Obi-Wan learned recently that he didn't die on Mustafar. Why Obi-Wan not only kept it on the comm device instead of deleting it, he just gave it to some random guy he barely know? These things are not even passwords protected apparently and you can just see the private messages, so wtf? Bail and Obi are supposed to protect these children and their identity and now because of their foolishness they're both in danger. How Vader knew that Reva was a youngling? Vader murdered people to keep his identity hidden, how he would keep around the sole survivor of the Jedi Temple purge who could figure out who he was? Why would Reva be so obsessed about finding Kenobi and then refuse to use him to make Vader distracted and kill him? That should've been her plan from the start right? She went that far to cut some lady's hand and threaten to kill the entire family just to find Obi-Wan and she wanted to hand him to Vader just like that? And most important - how the hell Reva is still alive after all of this? Vader told her that she won't live to regret falling him, and yet plenty time for regret there. He should kill her instantly or let Grand Inquisitor do the honors. Instead they both just left her there with her lightsaber laying on the ground, with wound that not necessary is fatal. This is ridiculous.

Exactly. Just look at what they did with her light saber in this episode. Its a single blade half ring saber. Then suddenly its a double bladed half ring. Then its got a full ring so that it can spin, vader takes it off her and its back to being a half ring double , that he splits in two, and ends up in two parts on the floor. Except it joins back together again and it is a half ring saber. Its whatever the writers want it to be, the prop department didnt read the script, the director had to have known this was nonse se and just filmed it anay way. No one around them brought it up. My favourite was the trigger warning at the start of the episode. Vader and the Grand Inquisitor (glad he’s back), just left Reva alive? She has tons of knowledge of the deepest working parts of the Empire and is a trained inquisitor with a clear motive to rebel. They just leave her alive? You could argue that at that point, she’s the most dangerous person to the empire. They just leave her. Level 10 plot armor. It’s clear that this entire writing process and show, began with her name at the top of the board and the rest is just servicing that. It’s the reason her character, dialogue and plot make no sense. Reva’s story did not need to be told because it was already done before and properly executed in Jedi Fallen Order. The Second Sister had far better believable motives and a more tragic story than Reva. Reva’s connection to Obi-Wan is so minimal that her confrontations with him come off as annoying and nonsensical. Whereas the the Second Sister’s trauma comes from a more direct betrayal that carries more weight and makes you feel remorseful for both sides of her story. They needed to give Reva someone or something to directly push her to who she is now and have more meaningful interactions with.

Things I would like to see: 1.) Allow the rebels to get absolutely stomped by the Stormtroopers/Empire. Everything we've seen from these shows as of late is that the Empire is incredibly incompetent and the rebels should have little reason to fear them. We need to go back to Rogue One levels of the rebels getting destroyed. 2.) Clone wars flashbacks while we have Ewan and Hayden on these projects is a must, like c'mon. 3.) Vader to be ruthless; in Canon comics he tortures the inquisitors and cuts their limbs off forcing them to us the cybernetics/prosthetics. Lightsaber wounds are so superficial. They've become a ridiculously ineffective tension device in Star Wars at this point. They're not typical stab wounds; inner organs or flesh isn't 'sliced' or 'mangled'. Lightstabers are basically one-inch rods of plasma that effectively DELETE MATTER. You're telling me that Reva can survive (twice) after having her insides borehole-d out of existence? Fuck that. Yes, other characters have survived worse - Maul, for instance. But come on. They could have improved that Vader holding the ship scene by alot, start as it does with him holding it in place and them cutting to a the interior shot, with everyone in a panic, and cut back to reva igniting her saber behind vader to fight him, forcing vader to release the transport, and obi-wan escaping due to reva's intervention- giving her a slight redemption, which is what disney was trying to do, but poorly. And yes just as Alex says it would make sense that the hyperdrive breaks due to vader holding it upon take off.

Darth Vader absolutely ANNIHILATING Reva, the Grand Inquisitor's return, Vader pulling the ship back to the ground and Anakin vs Obi-Wan flashbacks were the only redeeming qualities of the episode. Everything surrounding the rebels and the escape from the planet is so poorly written. For a show called Obi-Wan Kenobi, there seems to be very little of substance regarding Obi-Wan himself and virtually NOTHING about his past or backstory.

I have been saying for years that disney has shown great inadequacy of understanding jedi and sith lore from the start. This has not changed much. It's one of the primary reasons the sequel trilogy was such a mess. It's why Mando was tolerable(only Grogu problem) as it remains a problem whenever they write a character that can use the force. They think it's a superhero power instead of a trained mystical art, hence why their jedi do not actually need training and are inherently OP(Grogu, Rey problem). It doesn't work as quality fantasy with that understanding. Star Wars is not appropriate Marvel Comics material whether writers want it to be or not.

I'll give a quick example of bad writing. Reva has a similar power as we've seen Kylo Ren use, where darksiders can strip information from a victim's mind. A darkside mind-trick. Neat idea, yet... when Kylo does this on Poe, Poe is pained by trying to resist. When Reva does this on Haja it's painless because Haja doesn't resist. Ok. But when Reva tries this against Leia(a force-user) Leia resists, Reva fails, and it is painless. We then have to assume that Leia's mind is protected by inherent strength in the force. She is not trained. Literally, her mind is protected by a magic force bubble or something. It makes sense but it is bad writing and inappropriate for the fantasy universe it exists in. Force powers like this should not be possible unless the character is trained in their use. Disney Star Wars doesn't care for limitations like training when it comes to force powers.

One thing that could've REALLY salvaged the Vader Vs. Ship scene & simultaneously fixed the Reva waiting fight: would've been when Vader rips the first ship down, Reva strikes and maybe gets a single glance off on him, which distracts him and the 2nd ship takes off, and then he turns and bodies her. That would've explained why he doesn't take out the 2nd ship, and also made her look somewhat competent in attacking while he's focused on his rage for Obi-wan

Memories of the two doing things, that are haunting Obi for knowing that has become of his friend, while still having parallels to what's happening. Also I kind of have a benefit of the doubt to Obi's assault on the two troops in the interrogation room, that he didn't wanna like, tear them apart too much in front of Leia? (Even if one got cut in half in front of her by the gate a few episodes earlier)

How about when they had the blaster cannon firing at the door and it didn’t budge, but Reva takes her lightsaber to it for two seconds and gets it open? The fuck did you need the cannon for then? Or Lea being able to fix the wiring in the vents with no prior experience. Yeah, Anakin built C-3PO at a young age and was mechanical as hell. At least they eluded to him doing that stuff for years and more than likely got training from Wado perhaps. I can look past the Lea thing in this episode, but fuck man, I cannot suspend my disbelief that fucking much. A lot of people are gobbling this shit up and see no issues. I envy those people, I really do. I just can’t look past all the nonsensical contrived bullshit that’s in this series and in Disney’s Star Wars as a whole.

I laughed at the hallway scene when the rebels started to retreat, The Rebels are falling back and shooting where they just came from because the enemy is pushing in right behind them, But it cuts back to a standstill and Shows only Rebels retreating. They were shooting towards their own people retreating that were running around the corner. “They want you to kind of like what you’re watching now, but the next big thing that they reveal at the end of their series is supposed to get you hyped, so you’re never hyped about what’s happening now.” That is an excellent point, Alex, and I would like to further it with an example. It’s been talked to death at this point, but it’s relevant: The Boys perfects this formula of getting hyped for whatever’s happening. Sure they plant seeds for events that could happen later on, but each episode also keeps the energy up and keeps you guessing as to what’s going to happen next (is Homelander finally going to snap, is A-Train going to do the right thing, is Starlight going to finally have enough, is Billy going to become the villain of his own story, who’s going to go on the chopping block next). They don’t save their punches for the final moments, they’re ALWAYS punching and, in turn, keep you engaged in what’s going on. They also have a reason for adding new characters and situations, but always make sure the focus is on what we want: Homelander’s slow burning decent into madness and Billy’s never ending crusade against supes. Imagine if Season 3 focused 60% of its time to Soldier Boy, Crimson Countess and Gunpowder. It probably would be terrible and it would be completely misunderstanding what we enjoy the show for and what got us hooked in the first place. Don’t save your punches and don’t put your focus where we don’t want it: always punch and give us what we want/expect from a series!

The Nostalgia Chills I got seeing Hayden and Ewan again made me feel like a kid again. And Vader Toying with Reva and Never pulling out his Saber from his belt is pure badass.

The whole reva and Vader dynamic makes no sense, Vader has known about revas intentions since episode 2 because the grand inquisitor told him and so EVERYTHING between them afterwards is just Vader wasting his own time, he should have just killed her at the end of episode 2 or the beginning of episode 3 because he doesn't need her at all. This is just another in a very long line of issues with this train wreck of a show.

They should have made Darth Vader trying to pull down the second ship and while he is doing that have Reva attack him so they escape. It would have looked way cooler and better

Having Reva lose that battle helped make her more likeable, but she got no help from dialog department... and leaving her alive is dumb and not Vader-like AT ALL. They complain about not having enough ships for Obiwan to leave, but they all fit in 1 ship... magically they ALL pick the right 1. If the empire wanted to sabotage the base, then they would CUT POWER... not "lock down their defenses"... The reason imperials land is to overcome shields so their fleet can bombard... there was no shield. The reason rebels often escape -- they go in groups and use ion cannons... here they have a small freighter directly below a Star Destroyer... Revas motivations were crap. Vader's motivations for toying with her with a fake promotion... not very Anakin-like even on the dark side. Thank you Alex for putting the stupidity to whoever it was saying the Grand Inquisitor is obviously alive because he has two stomachs... You jab a light saber through the middle of the thorax you violate thoracic, peritoneal, retroperitoneal spaces with all the major nerves and blood vessels arguably in ANY species that evolved into a hominid -- Grand Inquisitor two stomachs don't mean jack -- the fact that he is part cyborg likely with things designed to help keep him alive does make it believable (though not that Reeva wouldn't behead him then). It was nice of the Empire to only use some flaky glue gun glue to hold the restraining bolt on Leia's droid and not reprogram it or really solder it on there -- they aren't MONSTERS after all and want that girl to get her toy back and they designed it to match the Christmas merch! to maximize immersion... Kumail showing up at this super top secret base contributed nothing and undermined suspension of disbelief efforts that he magically showed up at the secret base the Empire couldn't find. If they wanted to set up the Kumail spin-off, they should have had him come along on the first freighter and tag along until now. We got YET another slapping event with Tala devastating storm troopers before falling into the arms of what we wonder is her lover-bot and then instead of throwing the thermal detonator where it will kill the most imperials, she keeps it in her hands while the imperials run and the rebels try to get some distance -- which gave us a scene from Aliens. The corny insult that Vader was a padawan at the end was insultingly moronic -- better break the cannon than crack it and fill the cracks in with that kind of excrement. For sure, when you have two children whose identities need to be kept that secret, when you send a hologram to someone who already knows who and what they are, you make sure you restate it and then leave the hologram on auto-play with sleep setting on 'NEVER' so anyone can see it. Finally, highlighting the lack of tactical thinking and REFUSAL of the team to hire any tactical advisors (probably hard to find someone good at tactics yet still as border-line-personality woke as the writers) -- the Storm Troopers keep walking into melee range with ranged weapons in their hands. The imperials didn't bring heavy guns, grenades, or even the flash-bang type devices they normally use. Despite all that, agree -- "best" episode so far.

I'll do you one better, if anakin is so eager to win that he is impatient then why did Vader even send Reva down to the planet when he was there on his ship? Vader had no reason to wait around for Reva at that point he would've killed her if he knew about her plan then go down to the planet and rip the doors open in a second

@@mikehunt4265 I'll do you another one better: if Vader really wanted to make sure no one got away, why didn't they deploy their Star Destroyer's own Tie Fighter and Tie Bomber complements to intercept the transports as they left the base? They knew where the base was and where it's hanger was, and the base didn't have their own fighters or anti-air weapons, so there was no reason the Empire couldn't have deployed their bombers to blow stuff up on the ground and their fighters to shoot down any transports that flew out. For that matter, since there was no shield generator and no surface-to-orbit weapons like an ion canon, why not just have the Star Destroyer do an orbital strike on the base? For that matter, why couldn't Vader just enter the base from that open hanger ceiling door rather than walk all the way through the base the long way?

I expected Vader to execute Reva like how Anakin killed Dooku but it’s odd that he left her alive at all. Vader kills so easily over nothing. I suspect Reva will be redeemed by somehow saving Luke before dying while Obi-Wan is trapped somewhere else.

Pretty sad for the series even though we got this cool flashback sequence. It's like the brought in Obi-wan as an after thought just so they wouldn't suffer the backlash if they had made a show solely about Reva instead. Can't believe they wasted him. And worse of all is that they end up using Vader as a crutch

I wouldn’t have mine a show through the perspective of a survivor/ fallen Jedi who goes rogue. My only problem with the show is how poorly written is and relies a lot on fan service just so it can stay afloat, didn’t happened with the mandalorian….

Yeah, judging by the screen time Obi Wan has and his role in the scenes, definitely an afterthought and not the main protagonist. Reva isn’t the best but I couldn’t imagine being so annoyed to pretend this show is about her just so I can feel better about being so obsessed with her.

Now it feels like they have to churn out these shows just because Disney+ needs shows. Mandalorian now feels like a one hit wonder fluke with Boba Fett and now this show teetering off.

As some people mentioned in this exact scene, there was a second ship(and apparently there isn't in previous scenes), i also had rewind 10 seconds to see that... But anyway, as Joe mentioned they had PERFECT opportunity to show it a lot better. If only she attacked at same time as Vader tried to stop the ship, he would stop her anyway, but in that case it would look better of why he let second ship fly away. This is basic logic and they failed it, how it keeps happening? Same opinion, this episode is best yet, but it say very little. Overall, very dissapointing... The most my concerns from the trailer confirmed... this show indeed fully about Reva, as they showed it in trailers...

Imagine this: as Vader is pulling the ship down, ripping the side open, distracted by his rage, Reva then comes up behind him and attempts an assassination. She fails but distracts Vader enough for him to direct attention from the ship for a brief moment. The ship escapes narrowly with a compromised generator. Simple fix! Instead you got the stupid fake out ship.

It’s so out of character for Vader to let someone live who knows his previous life. In the comics he’s done a lot to keep that a secret. And if he wanted someone dead he wouldn’t toy with them. He would end then once and for all. Granted Vader and Anakin are my favorite characters of the series. But the amount of plot holes and flaws in the show is too much. Best episode by far is five in my opinion
