They've been one of my favourite cats (hard to choose just one species though) ever since. It's nice that much more information, photos and videos are available now, and that more people know about them. I've tried to do my share in teaching people about them. @shawntainerosemaryshorter84445 жыл бұрын
Me too. I pictured him eating out of his cat food dish in my kitchen..lol
@TheSavageApprentice4 жыл бұрын
It is not innate, curiosity and desire getting to know animals are natural. Unfortunately we are born and raised and a capitalistic society that plays with the natural curiosity of humans to make us want to posses everything we like. We are taught to find pleasure in having stuff more than experiencing stuff. I have used to have that feeling too. And i still feel my heart melting when i see them and wish i could be in contact with them. But now I understand that if you love an animal let it be in its wild environment or travel to be able to see them DO NOT BUY exotic and wild animals never. Even species that are not endangered. Wanting to posses is a childish behaviour that the type of culture we live in encoursges us to grow it rather than teach us to leave in in the childhood. And I include myself, not judging anyone.
@solar0wind4 жыл бұрын
Huh? I don't wanna own them. The only pets I wanna have are domestic ones. I think locking a domestic cat inside a house all their lives because it's "safer" for them is bad enough already (my family's cats are indoor outdoor), but locking in a wild animal? Never. I like the thought of them being free.
@janicetaylor23334 жыл бұрын
@@TheSavageApprentice ... agreed, but its a far more noble desire than that of wanting to eat or use for weird medicine any creature that lives on planet Earth. Far better that those people vanished from the planet than any creature at all.
@MT-kc6rq2 жыл бұрын
The first thing we need to do is stop talking abou "owning" them. That's Capitalistic, patriarchial framing. Something owned is for sure not "free". But we can live with , support, and protect non-humans who remain free (see the waltersantindy channel for cats who live in a garden in Turkiye...they love the humans who supprt and care for them, but they are not "owned" and can come and go as they please.) I would like to support a few pallas cats both as a way to help prevent their extinction and a way to enjoy their special personalities. I feel the same way about sand cats. If I live long enough I'll research how to do it. There is a lot of myth floating around about how asocial they are, but as the zookeepers say, it's all in the amount of effort we are willing to put in to build loving relationsips: when all is said and done, they are cats, and humans and cats can learn to relate to one another. We've been doing it for at least 9000 years!

the stupid thing is even though 90% of the animal loses with many species like lions, tigers, etc. has been in the last 50 years or so, whenever you bring it up the Chinese always try to blame the loses due to western trophy hunters and not Chinese Traditional "Medicine". I remember seeing an argument on the news where some Chinese "expert" tried blaming the population decline in some specific rhino species on the western ivory trade during the colonial era, with things like ivory chess sets and ivory piano keys being examples he used even though real experts around the globe as well as local experts said that most of the decline happened in the last 50 years and most of the poachers caught were shipping to Asian markets, with something like 80-90% just going to China.

@@arthas640 traditional medicine isnt what's killing animals. the people that use traditional medicine live in poor rural areas where they live in villages and tribes. theres barely any of them and they have to hunt to survive. mass production, over population, refusing to recycle, deforestation, toxic gases and unsustainable energy is whats killing animals. dont blame a small group of tribal people or people in the third world for the actions of huge companies.

@@lashay7684 The body parts sold bring truly enormous amounts of money. They are not being sold to impoverished peasants living in traditional cave dwellings in Guangzhou. Only the plutocrats ca afford those prices.

They apparently have a family at the Cincinnati zoo. When we went, they were nowhere to be found. Either they were hiding or just not there.

Oh no. The clip "domestic cats hunting" showing kittens hunting for leaves killed me 😭 why are cats so darn cute?? They are my favorite! And of all the cats, pallas cats are my most favorite!

Why call it "traditional medicine"? It gives the them power. Call it "Malpractice with a hint of Pouching" then suddenly it becomes a less powerful phrase.

Dream0fSkye have we, though? And if only it was just ground bone... They "milk" panda bile while they're alive. The process being so painful that they bite their paws, sometimes mutilating themselves.

any animal can be domesticated. its all about someones opinion on whether they or anyone else should live with one. i see nothing wrong with a human looking after another animal. its the humans inability to properly take care of the animal thats the problem. too many people want the "attention" of having an exotic animal without understanding how to properly care for it.

These are my favorite feline outside of my 4 cats. They are so cool looking from their fur, facial expressions, to their eyebrow whiskers. They are absolutely gorgeous and fascinating to watch their movements. They are so solitary that they could never be domesticated and therefore I will never have that dream of petting one while watching a movie come to fruition.
