Everything he says is true. I have in recent years started a paganism faith and as im lisoning to what he says about loki being not a God but a spirit needed for change i remember story's from my childhood about a spider and his miss deeds called Anansi. Turns out Anansi is a African diety know for trickery. I found it interesting that loki and this also trickster both are represented by a spider.

Fascinating and informative. Love your content and presentation, especially the series on animism. This lecture brought to mind the global situation we currently find ourselves in with the lockdowns and severe limitations on liberty and drastic economic affects and social/political instability etc. Your talk made me wonder if the primary figures involved in the looming technocracy who are fostering this covid agenda might be functioning as trickster entities. Up til now I've viewed them as malevolent, but despite the suffering and constraints of the present moment there's a groundswell of fresh dedication to life and a new creative outpouring occurring amongst a certain portion of the population in a direct response to the threat. This reflects some of your assertions about the function of the trickster. There's also the issue of the transhumanist movement and the phenomenon of AI that's driving a lot of the policies that are being enacted. Might this be equated to the notion of the trickster making room for new forms of life as you mentioned? I'd be interested in your thoughts on this. Thanks for your excellent work!

In other words, to fit into a certain group or tribe would make it hard to break through boundaries because you would be confined to the boundaries of that particular group or tribe. You would have to fit in everywhere and nowhere at the same time in order to transcend boundaries and create something new. Like I said before, you are one of the few people who understand the Trickster spirit.

So Loki is so much more than a 'mover of stories'. He always seemed to be so hard to fathom, thank for giving tricksters like him the attention and context they seldom get. Very curious about your class of 'other than human persons' you refer to as 'främmande' and 'oknyttfolk'. In the Netherlands we have benevolent and malevolent beings from the other side in folklore, but they feel so remote and difficult to understand. Maybe a 'Scandinavian' point of view on them can shed new light on the 'bûsehapperts, bőrries, witte wieven, nalopen' etc. from around here. But thank you for this video!

This cosmology seems to incorporate the idea that chaos and novelty are implicit in the underlying structures that order reality. Is this really how our ancestors viewed the trickster? I appreciate this perspective. It's a helpful one... sorta. How do we know that the long view isn't one that we are imposing on these characters, as opposed to what they themselves had in mind or some even greater Mind was thinking of? If we impose our meaning onto them such that we are accommodating their presence and actions, how do we know that this won't lead down a slippery slope into our lives becoming sheer hell? - figuratively speaking. Will the next cycle require us to say, "No!" to their presence and actions again, so that we can regain the order that they have destroyed? There is such a thing as too much chaos, y'know.

I've never considered tricksters evil, I believe the word would or will be used only with those perspectives of good and evil with no depth perseption other then what they are told, with no real knowledge of tricksters, again, other then what is told to them. Tricksters are wonderful teachers if ya ask me and not as bad as some are lead to believe, then again, that all depends on the person.

Answers and oft asked question of Christians: why do bad things happen to good people?
@ArithHärger
@ArithHärger 3 жыл бұрын
Perhaps that's not the right question, and the real question is: What defines goodness? If you ask a pagan or perhaps even an animist (such as myself), I can tell you that the concept of evil does not truly exists in an animistic and in an ancient pagan mentality. There is, however, an understanding that life itself can be tough, and being alive, and therefore being in the natural world, can be very dangerous at times, and nature can be cruel, but is that evil? is that good? Perhaps it's just a question of order and chaos and every living thing is caught in-between, regardless of character. Some are luckier then others. Within the human society there are people who make good and bad choices, and good and bad actions, it depends very much on one's character and morals. There are violent deaths, there are many atrocities, but the question isn't what is good or what is bad, but rather - what can we do to mitigate, our at the very least minimize, damage, harm and suffering? To a pagan, and also to an animist, it's not about seeking what defines goodness or evilness, but seeking ways to work for just resolutions and the end of conflict. Whether we like it or not, from the moment we are inserted in the cycle of life, we are all subjected to a variety of things. We all find joy and suffering. Why do bad things happen to good people? Well, goodness doesn't create a shield against anything. It doesn't not create an ultimate protection. Everyone is vulnerable. What can be done is to try to seek new ways to minimize the dangers of the world. When we live in this world we are aware of its dangers, especially the dangers of the human society and the dangers of the natural world, so we learn and put to practice that knowledge in order to avoid such dangers, to avoid paid, suffering and even death. The best we can do is to learn and try to help others, and just as I said earlier, to seek resolutions to end conflicts.

@@ArithHärger Thank you for your reply Arith, and for your generosity with the knowledge and wisdom you share in your videos. I was raised a Catholic, became an atheist and eventually found a practical spirituality. I agree, goodness is no guarantee against natural disasters and dictators. But the dualism of good vs evil - its such a comforting, simple illusion. The work you suggest we all do requires effort, which isn't simple or comforting, but ultimately, right. And lest we forget, in the case of man-made atrocities, the people who committed them were human, like us, and we are all capable of doing terrible things if the circumstances are right.

I am steadily working through your catalogue of videos as the more I watch, the more I appreciate your knowledge. I am very interested in the subject so I hope I haven’t offended you.

No worries, I get that a lot, hehe. Yes, I do repeat myself on purpose, especially certain key words and concepts so people may better interiorize them. The audience of this channel is from 8 to 80, and digital format has its downside when it comes to learning. When we hold a book, the entire process of touching it, go through the pages, watching the number of pages and all, will faciliate remembering the information in it. On digital format it will have a different impact upon the brain and the capacity to retain information lessens by a considerable percentage. So I make use of the voice by lowering or increasing the volume in certain words or phrases, also repetition, use of body language (especially hand gestures). This will help people's brains retaining a lot more information.

You are one of the few people that understand the energy of the Trickster spirit. The ones who don't understand the Trickster spirit aren't supposed to. That would defeat the purpose of the Trickster spirit's life to be tricky. The Trickster spirit is to be invited and avoided at the same time. Many people do this to the trickster spirit and don't even realize that they are doing it. It somewhat scary. Imagine being in an place with many different people from different walks of life and all of those people are attracted to you. Because of this, you will fit in everywhere but nowhere at the same time. Because ultimately you will be expected to choose a group to be in. But when you are invited by every tribe, it's not that easy to pick a group because people see that you are everyone. Therefore people also see you as no one. People who don't understand this aren't supposed to. That would defeat the purpose of the Trickster spirit.

No, I meant "transgress". Transgress the plans of deities, transgress order, divine law, in the sense of -against the "rules". Not in a sense of evolution of that which transcends. Tricksters provoke new possibilities for others to exist, and new spaces and realities to include life that wasn't part of the divine plan, or part of the orderly idea of the divine. For that to happen the tricksters must transgress the original plans and will of the gods.

One just says random things and the other uses my feet as a pendulum (They can read my mind and before I thought it was a doorkeeper) Obviously I am young and idk what to do he uses my body as a pendulum my feet for yes and no,can read my mind, and can move certain parts of me without touching me i reaaaallly need help i’m not a witch i can’t do spells none of that (i’m copying this on many videos it’s NOT spam)
