This is one lady that never did enough credit for her voice. In my humble opinion she was one of the best singers in Country Music if not the all time best. And I don't say that lightly.

Whenever I need comfort I watch one of the video clips or listen to a record of Anita Carter and quickly am lifted up as if to heaven for a moment in time listening to her sweet voice. A beautiful angel with one of the greatest voices of our time. I can't help but wrap myself in the thrill of listening to her crystaline passionate renditions. I have and always will be partial to the beautiful Anita Carter. Loved her since age of 5. The title of "Appalachian Angel" is Anita Carter.

I ditto wagadman's view> She is an angel and her voice is very comforting and it takes me to another place. She was the baby of the family so she was mainly backup vocals until she hit her late teens and she started to sing lead. June was so proud of her little sister, she always said Anita was blessed with the "pipes" and appreciated her lovely voice as did all of her family.

I've been to this concert in 1978. I was 14 and it was one of the milestones in my life. I remember when he said words "Tenesee free" and just by saying the word free there was a 5 minute standing ovation... He was more than just a musician, he brought hope to all of us behind the iron courtain.

It's tragic what RA did to her. She was already suffering from it when this was made. The puffiness in her face is from the Prednizone she was taking for it.

Theres something really mysterious as to why Anita didnt have better coverage, better material, and didnt record a truckload of music. I just dont get it, find a better country and or folk voice, cant be done. Someone should write a book about her.

AN ASTONISHING PERFORMANCE BY HER. SHE SHOULD HAVE RECORDED THIS AS A 45RPM SINGLE. (THAT LEAD GUITAR SUCKED; WHAT A TERRIBLE TONE, AND PLAYING.) NEVER SEEN HER HEAVY LIKE THIS BEFORE, BUT SHE STILL LOOKED GREAT, ESPECIALLY HER FACE, OF COURSE!

The country was communist hard core then, maybe Anita helped a little, not much really but I believe there is no such thing as not enough when you are an individual that does the right thing.

Johnny you heartbreaker, I didn’t know you broke Anita’s heart , I do now and feel so bad for Vivian and June now. And the aborted innocent baby , you almost made this secret go to the grave with you, I. Loved you so much but I feel different now. How can I forgive you without the knowledge from the Bible we must forgive as we r also forgiven . My heart is now broken
