In this instalment of #GrowingOlderAsMe, we meet the talented artist, Annabelle, who transitioned a bit later in life. We created a series of short films for the Trans Ageing and Care Project, that focus on the needs of older trans people.
We encourage all trans people of all ages to share their hopes, fears and thoughts about growing older as trans under the hashtag #GrowingOlderAsMe on social media.

I 'm 65, I almost started transitioning in the early '90's and chickened out. My life has been nothing but regrets since. I came to my senses after a near fatal accident and now I feel like I'm running out of time. After viewing many videos of older transwomen in transition (Ladies, your an inspiration to me!) and coming out to my family I can't wait to actually begin my own transition !

I'm a trans woman myself and I am still married with my wife who loves me as Britney possibly more than before!?? I only discovered that I was transgender aged 53 I'm very happy and carrying on my working and normal new life as Britney for a few years now

Hi Annabelle,I only know full well what you are going through.I live in New Zealand and i had a very simlar thing happen to me.Only because i had teriffic doctor and counciler,who put pressure on the local district health board that i got where i am now.I am 67 and cam out 12 months ago.This is the happiest that i have been in my life,i have no regreats at all.Best wishes and take care,Laurajane
