Thanks for introducing me to Annie Murphy Paul. A few thoughts: As a practicing psychotherapist who works with children using play therapy, much of my work is paying attention to my inner reactions (in addition to my clinical observations) when observing a child’s behavior in play. It’s a great source of information that is easy to ignore. Another point is group learning situations. I think I learned best not by burying my head in texts, but by actively participating in discussion groups in grad school. This also applies to 12-step groups where a common slogan is, “Together we can make it.” On that note, I’d like to hear more about how your guests might apply their thinking to mental health treatment in general in future podcasts. Thanks again for your work!

Annie Murphy Paul - Thank you Scott - what a gift she brings in her approach, her work and her insights. We need to find better ways to up our game and learn to get out of our heads, to open our hearts and join our minds to think and work smarter together. Wonderful and insightful conversation. Thank you both

I'm struggling to understand how limbic response is cognitive. Interception seems pretty clearly grounded in perception rather than cognition, internal situational awareness.

Also wary of critiques of "rationality" that don't distinguish between logical reasoning & post-hoc rationalization
