New cord cutter here. I started my adventure, with the GE 29884, as well as the GE 42179 signal amp. It worked pretty well, but I live right at 45 miles from Lexington, KY, so any kind of bad weather, or wind, would cause the signals to drift pretty bad. So, I decided to extend my pole to about 20 feet, but the signals really didn't get much better. I then decided, I'd take a chance, and purchase the Ellipse Mix antenna, after watching many of your videos. Well, let me tell you, the difference is day and night! The Ellipse signal strength is almost double from the GE! When I set up the Ellipse, I first turned the power to the amp off, and used the signal meter in my Tivo Edge. Another really awesome thing is, that the Ellipse's tilt angle can be adjusted, and it actually helped with getting the strongest signal possible. I'm not knocking the GE 29884, but for my distance from broadcasters, it just wasn't enough. I'm so happy, to have told DirecTV to take their stuff back, LOL! Thanks for all your informative videos!

It is relatively expensive compared to other similar combination antennas but with the built-in preamp and maybe the best build for weather resistance, for many people it is probably is worth it. And, I like Tyler’s and others’ point that the the cost may be quickly recovered after a few months of not paying for cable or satellite TV service. He didn’t mention that, if it’s like other Televes models, the inside-the-home power adapter / power inserter has two powered outputs so a splitter is not needed for connecting to a recorder or a second TV.

Between two markets. One is about 70 miles north, the other about 25 miles south east. (actually for my mother who doesn't know squat about antennas). We've had one of those big square antennas pointing to the north stations. We could pick them up at night, but not during the day. The south east stations came in, no problem. Recently though, the south east stations were getting weaker and weaker, so I turned the antenna a smidge to it could pick them up better, but then lose signal on the north ones. My question is, if I point this antenna to the north stations, would the closer south east stations still be picked up with decent quality? I'm assuming yes (because the big square antenna did), but would like to ask others who have tried this antenna.

As a RV camper our antennas have amps but is there a way to add a 5g filter to a existing unit? (my rig is a 2005)

Is the antenna NEXTGEN capable or ready how ever it is said?
@AntennaMan10 ай бұрын
There is no such thing as a "NextGen capable" antenna. Any antenna will pick it up as long as it's designed for the signal strength and frequencies in the area. See video below: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXy5aHWmnZWLi68si=n4ZzIdvd4xr2Jwat

I currently have the lava omnipro hd-8008. Live about 30 min north of Philly in NJ with area code 08075. This annt picks up all the vhf channels 2-12. I just bought this televes annt to upgrade current annt. After install and a re scan I gained a ton of new channels but completely lost all channel 6 channels. You helped me out in the passed with a install of a powered splitter to multiple tv set. Any suggestions on how to get 6 back using this annt? Can I take off the 2 large reflextors to make it omni directional? I absolutely love this annt but the loss of channel 6 is a game changer. Ken.

The HD8008 doesn't have any low VHF elements for 6ABC. You need a low VHF capable antenna like the model below: amzn.to/3AAtjCj

I pick up channel 6 in Philly and all it sub channels, the new televes picks up a ton more channels but nothing for channel 6

I know its silly, but the orange bit on the antenna makes it look goofy and cheap, even though I do know that its well built.

Thank you for your candor. I just dropped my Direct TV account. It was getting rather high shall we say, so cord cut. I am attempting to determine my needs since I am in a very rural area (Creston, California) about 35 miles or so from the nearest TV tower (San Luis Obispo, California) with several hills between me and it. Do you have a recommendation for myself??

How about testing RV and Marine TV antennas?
@AntennaMan2 жыл бұрын
The "best antenna for an RV" is one that's best for the frequencies in the area. Limiting yourself to just an "RV antenna" is unlikely to get you good results. Look at the frequencies in the areas you travel to and order an antenna that's sufficient for them. Maybe a medium sized antenna that you can put up and point as you travel.
@wallacegrommet93432 жыл бұрын
Marine and RV antennas are a whole new world of components. Most are omnidirectional, in different shapes and sizes. Prices, too. Only a few, larger units contain vhf elements. I want TV when anchored, so the position of the boat is always changing, which I would think rules out directional antennas. I haven’t found any real world tests yet.

I have the Televes 149883. It works great! I don’t see the advantage to upgrade to the “Repack” model 149884. What are the reasons, exactly.
@jurysdoyler2 жыл бұрын
The 149884 has more raw gain in both VHF and UHF, updated 5G filtering, and independent automatically gain controlled amplifiers for UHF and VHF.

Thanks. I am disappointed. We still have the same interference and now weather is impacting. I still have my Channel master connected. Should I remove it and use their booster? Signal to my other floors are even worse? Frustrated.
@AntennaMan2 жыл бұрын
@@lynnprete554 you should not be connecting any additional amplifiers besides the Televes power inserter that came with the antenna. Otherwise you'll over amplify signals. For additional support you can sign up for a consultation with me on my website: www.antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html

Would this antenna work in an attic? I would also need a rotor.
@markfuller2 жыл бұрын
Any antenna will work in an attic. You'll get somewhat less signal strength than mounted on the roof. The question is what size antenna you need based upon how far you are from the transmitters, and if your attic's space will accommodate that size. Depending on how many directions you need to point (if only 2 directions?), it could be better to mount two antennas in the attic dedicated to those directions. Use an A/B switch to to select which antenna the tv uses.
