Anvil Foundry Brewday with Hop Spider ( American Stout )

In this video I’m going to walk you through an American Stout I brewed for New Year's Eve. I’ll also share a new addition for my Anvil Foundry, a Hop Spider.
Grain Bill:
9 lb Americano Pale Malt 2 Row
1 lb of Dark Munich Malt
1 lb Roasted Barley
6.5 oz of Chocolate malt
1 lb Caramel Crystal 40
2 lb Flaked Barley
.75 lb of Rice Haul s
Hop Additions:
1.3 oz of Cascades at 60 minutes
1 oz Cascades at the 30 minutes mark
Yeast:
American Ale 1056

A hop spider truly makes the brew day a lot easier. I have had no success with whirl pooling free hops in the Anvil prior to knock out. The small pump impeller and inlet cannot handle the debris. I sacrifice efficiency by not over crushing the grains, but avoid stuck sparges this way. If you run out of rice hulls, just throw in a couple of handfulls of uncrushed 2 row.Works a charm! That’s a good idea with the uncrushed 2 row. It would be great if the pump could do a better job with the whirlpool. I’ve been tempted to use my riptide with this system, but I want to keep it simple with the smaller pump. I the hop spider will do the trick. Cheers!

Happy New Year! Small Improvement suggests for your next videos: - Add in the description and in the script video the quantities of salts used, which water base do you use. - I like to know the OG and FG as well. :) Keep on doing your videos, cheers 🍻

Great video! Hop spider is a must, I use one with my Anvil 6.5 for the exact reasons you mentioned.
