Many thanks for this Heads-Up! Given the upcoming changes, I wonder if this also means there will be a corresponding update of Mac OS Photos app.

Hi Walter! I don't think the Mac OS Photos app is having anything major in this round, but hopefully soon. I saw there will be collections on the Mac. . . but we'll have to see what that actually looks like. Hope all is well! Cheers! Mollie

I take photos of birds with a Nikon. I process them and the best I put into the icloud photos on my pc. I give each photo a name that includes the bird species and date, say 'Robin 24 June 2024.jpg' . My photos app has the name of the bird in the filename but you cannot search for that. You put into photos app search say Robin but it cannot find the Robin photos. It seems the simplest thing in the world to have a system search file names but the iphone nor ipad can do it. No mention of that in ios 18.

Hi Peter - That would be extremely frustrating. . . you put the work into naming the photos and then can't search for them on your phone. Its why I just use the Apple/iCloud/iPhone syncing only for a backup. I save my photos in regular folders on my computer and then upload to Forever. Seems like Apple could do better all the time. (And I'm a Mac user on top of it!!) Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers! Mollie

I am deeply disappointed with the new design iOS 18. As an iPhone user for 13 years, with over 200,000 photos stored on my device, this feels like a major letdown. It seems that Apple is increasingly starting to resemble Android, which is a huge step backward in my opinion. A big minus from me.

Hey Zan - its so frustrating when a company changes an app or software substantially. I actually teach to save photos on your computer in folders where you have full control of your collection. Thank you very much for watching and posting your thoughts here. ~ Mollie
