A few years back I was bitten by a brown recluse spider . I was rushed by ambulance with 108 degree temp. I was fainting. About 45 minutes after I got there my leg started to look like hamburger. The damage had begun. I don't think they knew what else to do but to give me antibiotics and pain meds. Two and a half days later when I got home my daughter and I started to wash and Pat my leg with soap and water then we'd Pat generously with a c v . Within 5 days my leg was completely healed. Thank God. I have so many stories about it. The chemicals in the vinegar are the same as in the best. Of acne lotions. It is a funguscidal, and an antimicrobial. It's a healer a cleaner you cook with it and so on and so on . It's a gift from nature so wonderful.

Thanks for making this video. I tried making a batch of apple cider vinegar with my own apples and it worked. It even grew a mother like yours only a little thinner. I'm making my second batch now. I don't have a country homestead like yours so I don't have so I won't go through my vinegar so fast. So I'll share it with friends.

I use Natural sugar with some, and I also use Honey instead of sugar. With the apples on my property (every 2-3 years) the vinegar turns out a beautiful red brown, and appears better than store bought apples but maybe stronger.
@daddykirbs8 жыл бұрын
That is the best when you have your own apples to work with. So, do you notice a difference using honey instead of sugar?
@rcor0net3048 жыл бұрын
Not much a difference with honey. Yes lucky to have apples growing. The produce store a few miles away had some HUGE apples that could not be natural. Some the size of cantalopes! I have to buy apples in off season, because mine are every 2-3 years. But I don't buy the big ones. My ACV I made fall of 16 was store bought. I hope this year the apples grow so I can do more than ACV. I need to get a dryer or build one.

I am new to Making this, I don't have a large open mouth jar but I do have large plastic (cranberry jug) with small lid opening, its has been 5 weeks now, I used a starter "mother" from organic store bought apple cider.. I do not have a solid like you have in video. I put lid on every day to shake it so no mold or bacteria forms on top (what I have learned from other videos), I don't know if its the starter I smell or batch actually worked. Is it that important to have open wide mouth top to breath?.. (I place cap on top loose so no pressure forms). or do I have apple water wine?
@daddykirbs8 жыл бұрын
It will go through an alcohol stage before vinegar. Breathing is important. Keep that cap loose. 5 weeks may not be long enough on your first batch. Keep an eye on it, I think you'll be ok.

I was planning on making pear WINE. Cored and cleaned about 3 bushels of them. Sliced them and put in a big stainless pot. Covered them in DISTILLED water. and put a dark cover over them. They're in a very warm room. Next day they smell like vinegar. I added some rose petals steeped in sweet potato water (was used to boil a sweet potato), allowed this to cool and put in with the pears. Also added a TBS honey and 40 grains of bee pollen for vitamins and minerals. Been stirring it 5 times a day, and it's a bit frothy on top but nothing major. Still smells like vinegar. LOL! Today is day four. I'm thinking I should be looking up ways to preserve foods using no refrigeration and VINEGAR. LOL.. Anybody ever ate any pickled pears? There is no mold, no rot, just vinegar smell. And lots of it.

I started a batch ACV without the mother & stirred it every couple of cays for about 2 weeks but then I got very busy & left home a few times, long story short,,,it was left in the jar for 2 months! Apples were sitting on the bottom, no mold so I poured off the liquid into another jar 2 days ago. Do you think the ACV is ok ? Does the ACV need a second ferment with a cloth or just cap the jar and store away?

Could you use a Wine makers demijohn with an airlock to make ACV? the only problem would be removing the mother, what do you think?
@emmdemeester69907 жыл бұрын
Hey, awesome videos. Very informative. I have a couple questions. 1) You put the frozen apples in the microwave. Is this only to thaw them? I don't own a microwave nor do I wish to purchase one. Would it be okay to let them thaw on the counter/in the fridge or will this cause problems such as bad bacteria growth? 2) Is the mother or the SCOBY you use for the ACV the same SCOBY as you use to make kombucha? I am ordering some gallon jars in bulk, and grabbing a couple kombucha scobys off a girl I know to try brewing kombucha for the first time so if I could just use one of those for the ACV I think that would be better. I use ACV every day, but up until I found your channel today I didn't even realize it was something I could make at home. Very excited for more videos. Thanks!
@daddykirbs7 жыл бұрын
Yes, thaw the apples in the fridge to allow for slow safe thawing. The SCOBY and MOTHER are same in concept but different. Many people ask if they are interchangeable. I'm not sure of the answer exactly. There are plans to conduct an experiment :)
@nash49477 жыл бұрын
Hi Blake! Thank you so much for your videos. I was wondering how do yo make the mother at the first place. As I am a starter in this area and I would love to find out how to start it. And another question can be sugar replaced by honey ? If in the process of making the mother requires the sugar can be it also replaced by honey ? or Dark brown sugar ? Thank you in advance for your answer!
@daddykirbs7 жыл бұрын
I've never used honey in the fermented foods because I know that honey has some anti-bacterial properties that might slow down the process.... however, some people do it :)
@nash49477 жыл бұрын
Blake Kirby thank you so much for your prompt response😊 Do you mind letting me know how you make the mother ? I have seen your both videos but there they were already ready ones, so I am a bit lost and not sure how to start. Thank you once again for your time 😊
@CengalLut7 жыл бұрын
Honey is anti-bacterial because it has so little water available to the bacteria and fungi. Honey is anti-bacterial the same way a rock is anti-bacterial, not like penicillin. If you mix a spoon of honey into a gallon of water, it gets diluted, then it's just like regular sugar with some added flavours.

Naz H I too want to know how he made the mother, I mean I think you just make acv like he has done here but when you have no mother you just put like heaps of braggs vinegar in the water,apples and sugar and it will eventually turn into a mother. Not just that brand but I have heard and read and it always works unless it's out of date of course.

@daddykirbs8 жыл бұрын
I've heard of switchel, but know nothing about it. I'll have to look it up :)
@laughingjimone54958 жыл бұрын
it's apple cider vinegar mixed with either maple syrup or honey, and water. most recipes say ginger too but I haven't gotten any yet. It's a great idea to turn your over cultured kombucha or water kefir into switchel, or something similar. It's best to let it sit for a day once you put it together.

Hey there, I started my very first batch about 3 weeks ago. I didn't have a mother, so I added some organic apple vinegar. 2 days ago, the apples that have been floating have sunken to the bottom of the jar. all of them. Not sure if this is a good/bad sign. Also, not sure if I should add sugar throughout the process or not. I really wanna get this right, so I appreciate every piece of advise. Thank you!

Sinking is not bad. Only add sugar one time at the beginning. I bet you are on the right track.

what is the purpose and/or benefit of using apple cider vinegar rinse on the animals, especially on the dogs?

+Mark W we add it to drinking water to help with gut health. We condition skin and hair with it diluted. Not sure of scientific details lol, but it seems to leave it looking and feeling nicer.

Thank you so much for this. I think you said that I don't have to use sugar if I have a mother. Does it make any difference or speed it up if I add a couple of spoons? Is there an exact amount?

Have you ever had a batch get "vinegar eels" ? And if so is there a way to prevent this ? Thank you for your videos and any information !

I've never had them, but I've heard that keeping your batch in a clean environment with proper temperatures helps to prevent them.

Does making homemade ACV stink up the house? I'm thinking about to make my own for hair rinse!! and more.

No it doesn't stink the house up. Your pantry might have a slight smell at different stages but nothing terrible.

Sir I have a question once I drain the apples I have the mother I put in my mason jar, with just the juice, do I seal it for the next month or does it need to breath.?
