WFH (workin' from home) had already been a thing for years by the time the COVID-19 pandemic hit. And yet the antagonists in these videos still don't seem to get it. Angie's just the latest of far too many.

IKR. I was working from home several years before covid hit. And these days, many companies still offer WFH or hybrid jobs, having recognised that they can actually save quite a lot of money on overheads by having staff work from home.

When Angie told David Mikaela threw out HER cooking and had been forcing all the chores onto HER, I have to say, my jaw nearly hit the floor! The audacity of Angie to do and say what she did, then to not only lie about it, but to also claim that MIKAELA was the 1 doing all that to HER?? Honestly, I was shocked! I'm glad everyone stood up to her and firmly put her back in her place! This has got to be up there with some of the worst MILs we've ever seen on this channel!!

At the beginning Mikaela says she may take a hotel room to get away from the construction noise. I would opt for going to the nearest public library and ask for the use of a study carrel. That would allow the use of an internet connection for a laptop, and you can close the door to the carrel for privacy. This keeps the others in the library from being disturbed by your business meeting.

Having been raised by a single father this MIL's attitude is unacceptable. He taught me and my brothers to do all of the household chores. I cooked my first Thanksgiving dinner at the age of 12. I would have definitely cussed her out up one side and down the other! I am thankful that my MIL loves my cooking and won't let her own sons cook for her.

My foster parents said the same thing once I was old enough to use the stove by myself. They never taught me how to cook. I learned on my own. I also grew up hearing "if you don't like what's for dinner, either make something else yourself, or starve". I took cooking classes in high school, and when I moved out, I watched Rachel Ray, Barefoot Contessa, and other cooking shows. My fiance's mom also attempted to help me, but by that point I couldn't stand other people in the kitchen with me.

I don't care if it's noodles or basics. I just have to make sure u can boil a potato (my mother told me she felt sorry for my stepfather cos he could not boil a potato). It produced a determined mum to make sure any offspring know how to feed themselves. But I also told him that great gran won't get him food so he needs to know (she had dementia and tumour).

@zuzax1656
@zuzax1656 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that is one difference in generations. When I grew up, we ate what was on our plate, or we went without (yeah, I'm a boomer). Luckily, mom was a good cook. Nowadays, too many parents give too may choices. That creates "picky" eaters, like the kid that won't eat anything but chicken nuggets.
@kerioaks1407
@kerioaks1407 Жыл бұрын
Same here, but it also depends on how old the person is, and if it's the first time I made the dish or not. I'm not going to tell a 3 yr old to starve if they don't like it. And I won't make them eat it either. I will, however, encourage them to try a couple of bites, and if they don't like it, I'll make them something else. If it's a full grown adult that's capable of cooking themselves, they get the " eat it or starve, or make your own damn dinner".
@kerioaks1407
@kerioaks1407 Жыл бұрын
Zuzax that's one of the reasons why I have an eating issue. I was forced to eat what was on my plate. I'm 32, and I STILL feel bad when I can't eat something someone made. I can not stand stuffing. I will try a tiny bite, but that's it. Thankfully, my in laws are understanding.
@zuzax1656
@zuzax1656 Жыл бұрын
@@kerioaks1407 That's pretty much what I was saying. My brother and I were in our preteens, so it wasn't too bad. If mom cooked something new, we had to take just a tablespoon of it, without being told what it was. Then, after saying if we liked it or not, and why, she'd tell us what it was. This actually helps me as an adult, as I've had different foods from all over the world, stuff I would probably never consider otherwise. So, the 'Eat it or else' was far from a real threat, as we had our input taken into account. Also, by then, we got our own servings, so it was more about not wasting food than anything else. We could always have seconds, but we did have to finish what we put on our plate first. And if we skipped seconds on something that we didn't care for, no biggie then since we had our first serving anyways. I really think the secret is to let the kids take what they want of everything, so it isn't a parent forcing food on them without any say. Believe it or not, sometimes, kids aren't hungry right at 6pm.

My mother in law cornered me in the bathroom while she was screaming at me because I didn't wash the floors. I asked her very nicely to please move. She didn't so I GENTLY nudged her to give her the hint to BACK OFF. She told everyone in the family that I SHOVED HER to the ground and walked away. I told everyone the truth, and I looked her in the face and told her that if I had shoved her to the ground, she would be wheelchair bound, if not dead. I told her I nudged her so she would move out of my way, after ignoring me when I asked her nicely to please move out of my way. She tried to get me to quit my job when COVID started and I told her to screw off. She complains about me spending MY hard earned money on things that I need and want, AFTER my bills are paid. I literally gave her $1,500 to get the windows replaced and kitchen floor redone. I paid all of my bills, and then decided that I wanted to spend $300 on myself for a haircut and dye job. She had the audacity to complain about how I spent my money. So, I told her to never ask for another thing from me. I told her if she needed smokes, go get them herself. If she can't afford them, then get a job or quit smoking. Everything I have, is because I worked hard. Well, some of it was gifts from my parents (like my dash cam). But 95% other things I have, I got for myself.

So many strange ways of spelling the name Michaela. It's supposed to be the feminine version of Michael. Nevertheless, Angie got what she deserved for treating her daughter in law so horribly.

10:30 So, looks like it's misandry at the heart of the whole thing. Angie thinks people raised by single fathers are deficient. Charming.

I think I have been following Russia's invasion of Ukraine too much. Because that MIL was Russia in this narrative.

Hey Angie, it's not your DIL's duty to do your laundry, cook your meals, clean your house, and pay for your electricity and food.

I don't often comment on these but since Angie apologized and was doing everything and Mikaela was doing her own work when nnot being a guest. If I were Mikaela, I would have started an olive branch to MIL and offered her a bit of help with the occasional chore to help rebuild the entire family. It is amazing how one tiny thing can have great future results. It could save David's marriage as well by 'teaching' Angie that offers rather then bullying works better.
