Thanks so much for this video. We lost my brother-n-law last week and had his service this week. He wanted a happy celebration. We wore Hawaiian shirts and told stories. This led me to realize at 58 I told my doctor I am just tired of others walking on me. Thru childhood and other situations I had developed low self esteem and put others before me. Still with 3 grown children and husband of almost 40 yrs, can’t seem to let myself put me first when I need too. I want too but feel guilty. But I have finally realized I am tired of being talked down to and its ok to give an opinion and say hey that’s just not right. Thanks for all your inspiration.

Kim Arnold Kim, you go girl. Sounds like you’ve given to others all your life. This is a hard lesson for most women to learn, me included, but we must learn that it is ok and healthy to set boundaries. Your god given intuition will tell you when someone has crossed that boundary. You just have to trust your gut. If you feel violated, you probably were. You can do it in a nice but firm way...no need to get aggressive, just straight forward. Something like “You know, that felt hurtful to me, or that felt controlling to me, or Hey, i’m not ok with that tone you are taking with me.” Hope this was helpful. I’ve been where you are. It just takes practice. All the best Kim, you deserve to be honored and respected.👩‍🦳🥰

I used to be a door mat for people to walk on. I decided my feelings count and no longer allowed others to treat me bad. My Significant Other is having a family gathering next week hosted by his sister in law and I won't be attending. His sister in law is extremely toxic. He supports my decision. He is only going for his brother's sake. I don't even have a problem if he gives her the real reason. Life's too short.

Your new home will be fabulous just like you! I walked out on my husband after. 27 years and two children. Life was not worth living with this man, he destroyed anything he touched. I was so scared that day, but I did it- that was 1996. I finally got a chance to see who I actually was... There was good and bad of course but I am so happy now. I wish I had done it when I was younger, but better late than never. You videos are truly wonderful and full of hope, and .Bill knows an angel when he sees one that's for sure. Your grandson and the Dez are so beautiful together. .

I think the biggest change in my life was when my husband moved me 1,500 miles away from my family at 19 years old and I had never been away from them before. I was miserable in Colorado for at least 2 years, so homesick. Then we started our own family and everything changed. 43 years later and I love it here and I believe in hindsight that I became a better person not being around the pull of my original family constantly. Don't misunderstand...I adore them. But grew up together with my husband and children and I am who I am today because of that change. :)

I won't be moving until the fall....there is a waiting list of 6 to 8 months but I am on the list. I am moving because I would like a washer/dryer in my apartment, a bigger kitchen and a carport. I don't have those things here! :) xxoo love to you!

I love your videos and Dezzy too! I made it, too. When I was 28, I had been married for 5 years. I was expecting my first child. My husband left me for another woman 5 months before the baby was born! Talk about heartbreak! It was devastating at the time, but I built a new life! I moved back to my home state of Texas. Had a baby boy and went to college. I met the love of my life. I have a career and bought my own house. Life is good. :) It is amazing how what we think is the end of the World isn't so bad after all.

I was so happy listening to you talk about being so comfortable in your skin. Getting to that point is such a blessing! I'm getting there myself -- it's going to take time, I know, but I finally feel like I'm on the right path. Last week one of my friends from college said she thought I looked so much more comfortable and happy in my videos, and that was one of the best compliments I can remember! The biggest change in my life was when I finally left my abusive husband; I packed up my three daughters and moved out while he was at work. It felt like I was stepping off a cliff, and in many ways it was. I was glad to be free of his yelling, his insults, and most of all, the way he manipulated the girls and me. It was also a dark time; three teenage girls are a big load to carry, psychologically, emotionally, and financially. I worked so hard and I didn't get help from my family (that's a story for another day.) I had been clinically depressed since high school, but I slid into a depression so deep I could barely function. I've come a long way since then, but oh, what a cost. My oldest is pregnant with her first, my first grandchild, but she no longer speaks to me. My youngest is a heroin addict, struggling to tame the demon, in and out of rehab. There is little I can do other than love her to the best of my ability; only she can heal herself. My middle daughter is pure sunshine, and she alone saved me from suicide. I felt that I had failed my children in the most fundamental way, otherwise, why would this all be happening? At the end of the day, I've spent many hours and days reliving that time, and I've forgiven myself for my failures, whatever they may be. There are no do-overs. I did what I felt was best and right for them and for me. I didn't share with them things they didn't need to know that would have only hurt them. It was my job to carry those burdens, not theirs. I have decided instead to be a phoenix and rise from the ashes. I feel stronger every day and I find joy in so many things! Life is beautiful when you take the time to notice the kindness, the beauty of God's creations, the lovely sound of rain, the smell of honeysuckle and jasmine; there are endless wonders and miracles all around us. I'm sorry this is so long! Thank you for being comfortable in your skin and sharing your world with us; you bring me such peace. 🌻

Your so amazing, look at what/where you’ve been & where your going. Nothing is ever easy, but we survive. We either continue to grow by learning from our mistakes. My husband (of 40 yrs) had hit rock bottom. And I mean anyway you possibly can hit we did. But, we stood strong & committed to never ever be there again. My biggest change happened this mar 1 st. I am 71 years old and my husband and I had to move in with my son because my husband had a stroke. I have never lived with someone before and not having my own home. This was traumatic for me selling most of my possessions and lack of privacy. Trying to work through it but you talking about change being scary hit a cord with me, so I guess I am not alone. Love watching you and Desi keep up the great videos.

Hi Susan. I’m so excited for you and your move. Oh my goodness. My biggest change was making the decision to leave my husband. Just one morning I woke up and God said “go now”. So after he left for work I packed up everything I could fit into my vW including my 2 dogs and I headed 3 hours south to where I grew up. And I was scared to death. Would he come after me? Hey Susan and Desi! I loved the beginning of the video when Wyatt was with Desi! They love each other! Your new home will be fabulous! I can't wait to see it! I moved into a new neiborhood and home 2 years ago! We were in our home for 22 yrs and talk about change! My once adored little cul de sac changed so much! Families grew up and one by one moved away. We were the last to go! It was time! I was sad to leave my home and petrified to move to a whole new area where we knew nobody but excited about our new beginning all at the same time! We are settled in our new place with my new Ziggy! It was really hard the first 6 months but I'm so happy now that we moved. I didn't think you looked sad playing piano last week! Change is always a good thing but at times hard. When I was 19 I moved from a small town to SanDiego, I’d hardly been out far out of my town, let alone been on a plane alone to study in a New Country, what a change. I think it’s good to see the changes your making the fact you could sing in front of camera was awesome. Music takes me to another place too, playing the piano and singing requires you to get into the zone. I remember playing and feeling the music through the keys, from pianissimo to forte, from slow to fast.... the rhythms, time signatures it’s a battle of the senses, I hope you have a great week. I read somewhere this little tidbit years ago, but it’s so true: Time changes people and people change with time. It makes sense because it’s a cycle. Embrace change. We have no other choice! I used to love change when young. Then I became fearful of change. I think it was because I lost a lot of people, places and things in a short amount of time. Now though I’m more accepting of change. I look at like I did when I was young. I found if you aren’t resistant towards change and stayed tuned in to your life and what’s around you. You can stay ahead of most shocks. I don’t know if I’m making sense. Anyway I love the CYO foundation in 107 and 109. It’s great for olive undertones.

You took me from Rimmel to reminiscing today, with all kinds of emotion coming to the surface. I love my Rimmel Kate lipsticks. Have from the first time I tried them. They just feel so good. Now to the serious stuff, a psychic told me many, many years ago that my life was going to change . . . for the better. If you don't do something to facilitate the change, life will do it for you, she continued. I can't tell you how many times recently I've thought about her words. As you know, I'm in a huge flux in my life with changes happening all around me. In the rare moments when I can still my mind enough to get it, I know it will all come out okay at the end. I think retirement was my biggest change and it scared me to death to do it. I mean, my entire identity was so wrapped up in my profession. I just could not imagine who Nicole was if Nicole was not a teacher. What I have discovered is that once a teacher, always a teacher. Believe me, I just have not been able to shed that skin, but the opportunities just look a little different.oh, Susan, your complex looks beautiful. I am so excited for you. Hey! Hello Susan! The baby! Gorgeous. You look wonderful. Change is just as you said. Necessary yet scary as anything. My Pupcake (husband) and I just had a HUGE change. Sold our house, bought a detached townhouse, renovated the main level - kitchen, dining, and living space - and bought a new business and worked like dogs during the tax season. I'm working for him and loving every minute of it. I'm 64 and most of my friends think me crazy, but it's great. Change is scary as all of us can imagine. I'm excited for you with your move. I hate change, but that is because it is never is change I initiate. Life makes me change when I am not ready. From my dad's major stroke (right after I had my first child) that left him unable to walk or talk for twelve years, to my cancer diagnosis, to my daughter's diagnosis, all resulting in my leaving jobs to help others (only child). Having to sell my childhood home and my husband's (at different times) to give the money to nursing homes, planning funerals before loved ones had died---all of it beyond my control. A planned move sounds lovely. Changes that you want may be scary, but are lovely in the end.I wish you the best! LOVE that dog with the baby.

Another big change is that in a couple years my Hubbs and I are moving from Minnesota to Florida. Retirement from a job into refirement into a new time and season. Exciting but somewhat scary. Biggest change....divorce...job that was killing me..drank wayyy too much wine..alone at night after working for 10 hours...fashion biz ain't always kind..at 60 went to rehab... changed me into the woman I am now...went back to school..health and life coach...energy healer...met the greatest guy on earth..and on my second move since divorce!!!Scary but "change is the only constant"...WE CAN do anything...especially with faith...I even LOOK better in my 60's..because I learned to love the little girl in me that is still there.. Desi and the Baby : ) I know...this year is flying...it's almost time for Christmas in July! Hooray on the new place and doggie park! I love this message you gave. You and Dominique Sasche both are talking about fear, which I have lots of in the face of making a change. I have surrounded myself with items for the last ten years that are crowding me, and holding me back from using my space. These are items from those people I have loved dearly and miss even more. The fear of letting go is paralyzing. But herein lies the action of my faith -- I trust my God enough to catch me when I let go. I want to take a deep breath, hold it, dive down deep to pack up the items I hold on to out of grief, and then come back up gasping in the fresh air of a new life ... one without that fear hanging over my head. Denise Marie If you've ever been in and cleaned up after a loved one who has passed, you know that what that person has held onto is most likely important only to them. It was sad to me to go through stuff and have to trash what l felt was not worth saving. I don't want my children to have to do that. I can donate and recycle and throw away my own stuff. Yeah! So excited for you and Desi. New home is a new beginning. For me, change is scary, but deep down inside you know it's going to be ok. I went through a breakup a year and half ago. I spent many a nights crying. Today I still hurt a bit, but so much more at peace. I thank God every day for the break up. Some many wonderful things have come my way. My new grandson Benny is the best one. He is 5 months old.

I really dislike the moving "out" process but the moving "in" part is much more fun! I have moved 4 times in 6 years, the last move was 2,000 miles! Desi reminds me so much of my little Lizzy, Susan. So cute! I've had a lot of big changes in my life, including starting over because of 2 broken marriages, but I try to approach each one as a new adventure and always move towards the positive. I know I'll be OK if I try to find the positive side of the change. I try not to focus on the negative, some things you just can't change, but you can move forward into a brighter, more joyful future, even if it means traveling there alone. This has allowed me to create a life that I love. I know there will be more changes in the future, but wouldn't it be boring if every day brought the same old, same old? I'm thankful and grateful for everything I've been blessed with, especially my 3 wonderful children and 5 grandchildren, and that's my main focus. New beginnings offer opportunity to create something beautiful out of the ashes!

One of my biggest changes was helping my adult son with autism move into a supported living home so he could become more independent. He’s growing and thriving and it’s beautiful to see. I miss him so much even though I see him every week. He just got to aggressive living at home. I suppose he needed to have his own space and have his own rules. Change is growth and sometimes growing hurts. I’ve loved watching you grow and change...one thing has remained the same though and that’s your beautiful spirit. Enjoyed this video so much! Your skin does really look beautiful! I’ve been through a big change in the last year. I retired early from my job and my husband and I moved from our 4 bedroom home in Texas to live with my 92 year old father in Illinois in a small ranch house. It is rewarding to be near family though. My son lives near us too. Sometimes change is bittersweet. I miss my friends and job in TX, but I love being with my family. As to your question about a scary change in our life...I ended a horrible relationship and it took a year before I recognized my self in the mirror. That was a long time ago, however I remember the lost, scared and unhappy feeling and feel so blessed that now I'm content, happy and love to laugh with friends. My Katie Rose is sending Desi (her on-line boyfriend) cuddles!! She likes to sit on my lap and watch Dez run up and down the hall and do yoga outside! What a gorgeous place you're moving to! I saw a small gazebo too. Don't know if it's part of your units or not. But the water is beautiful. It reminds me of the lake townehouse we rent in December that has a a beautiful lighted fountain. You will be so happy to wake up to such natural beauty. It is just perfect.
