It is stabilized so great for the older 6000 series. Can you comment if it works at all on full frame?
@that1cameraguy
@that1cameraguy 3 жыл бұрын
I guess I really am out of it. You’re right about the stabilization. I did put it on an a7siii for video, it’s bad in 4k. On another full frame you still get crazy vignette. Probably not a good option for full frame.

@@that1cameraguy wow, thank you for the info. I’m debating selling my 6600 and going for the A7C or simply getting this lens to bring up the quality on my APSC. I actually have mostly full frame lenses and use my A7R3 for client work. This kind of helps me move forward with just going full frame
@TVe200
@TVe200 3 жыл бұрын
Most Sony full frame cameras have an APS-C mode, and in auto it recognize that you are using an APS-C lens. Of course you loose a lot of mp. On a7iii you get 10 mp, on a7Riii you get 18 mp and on a7Rvi 26 mp.
@sneakergearz
@sneakergearz 3 жыл бұрын
@@TVe200 I totally get that. But based on most reviews, even though full frame and apsc glass is interchangeable. Both perform better on their original format. Even ones as sharp as a 55 zeiss is not as sharp as the 56 sigma on apsc even though it’s super sharp on full frame. This may work great on apsc but your losing some of that sharpness using it on a full frame even though it works. For my use case, I would be selling another APSC lens to get this one and spend about $300. Or I would sell both my APSC camera and lens and spend about $300 to get an A7C with my primary use is video and ease of use for my wife. Would love to keep my 6600 but I have mostly full frame lenses now anyway so it’s just that time for me to make a decision

@@sneakergearz That's probably right, at least Tony Northrup want us to believe that. I would not hesitate at all buying the Tamron 70-180 f/2.8 and use it om APS-C. Even if it is made for full frame it is the best tele zoom you can buy for APS-C. I own the 70-350 G because of the reach, its's like a 100-500 on APS-C.

@IanHobday
@IanHobday 3 жыл бұрын
Sony has licensed their mount and protocols to 3rd party lens makers like Sigma and Tamron but Canon and Nikon actively work against the 3rd party lens makers. This is why there are so many 3rd party lenses for Sony E but none for the new Canon and Nikon mounts. Sigma and Tamron will likely eventually make lenses for the new Canon and Nikon mounts but without official licensing they will not work as well on those mounts as they do on Sony E.

Thanks for the impromptu unboxing. I have had the 18-105, I was curious about the size comparison and how it looked & felt on the apsc body. I’m between this tamron 17-70 and the sigma 18-50… compactness versus stabilisation… tough choice. I’m trying to have a minimalist lens lineup to do it all: 11 f1.8 + 70-350 + tamron 17-70 or 11 f1.8 + 70-350 + sigma 18-50 I have a zve10, so i’m leaning tamron for the stabilisation… any thoughts?

I think APSC is still alive. Sony, Canon and others might want us to move to full frame, but there are still plenty of us out there. Look at what Fuji is doing with APSC. It is truly outstanding. I do think that Sony's APSC line needs a full refresh. They are using the same basic body design as they did almost 7 years ago. They also need to complete revamp the menus and make them touch focused.
@IanHobday

A body similar to the A7iii, a new BSI sensor, better IBIS, and the new menus would make Sony's APS-C unbeatable.

1 stop will increase bokeh, but it's not a major move like going to 1.4, in your situation both will work great but 18-105 has noticeable reach advantage, also power zoom & internal zoom mechanism which is 1 thing that bothers me a lot about lenses - call it dust/moisture paranoia

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this was made in APSC as they are planning on making Fuji X glass. So I expect this lens will come out also for Fuji. I've not watched the video yet so it might have already been covered. I highly doubt they'd make this just for Sony APSC. It's not really a lens I'd buy as I already have the Fuji 18-55 and the Fuji red badge 16-55 F2.8. If it's cheap though and the stabilisation works on Fuji. Might make a nice replacement for my 18-55 which lacks weather sealing.
