jr Kai i don’t think that this counts as not saving like in the dark knight movies. This was just strait up murder, don’t forget he was killing all the other pirates and he didn’t expect manta to even get away at all. But if you want to argue you could call it (by a stretch) manslaughter or failure to rescue someone in need. You also can’t claim that aqua man was acting in self defense. Since he attacked the pirates and was invulnerable to their weapons. Which also makes it weird when aquaman later was sad about how he let that man die, which is why manta hated him.

Like we get it, everybody wants to break through a wall and surprise attack😂 And that savage-fish deep underwater chase scene was extremely horrific. It stuck to the comics, James Wan did great, he did his job quite well I can say, and the camera work did not disappoint either. The acting was great, I really did not see it coming, and the casting choices, leading and supporting, were very impressive as well (Dolph Lundgren, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson etc). The only thing that's bad is script. I agree that it could have been better but its not like the script is overly cringey that you can't watch it anymore, it just needed a little improvement that's all.

The line about not knowing who the main villain is, was cuz Orm wasn't really all that threatening; the trident one was a way to say "we know he can get the trident, he is the main character". The way he killed the fisherman so fuckn dumb and effortless it did more harm to the bad guy image then help. I was more concerned with why it was so easy to walk in their with armed forces and why the women were useless while Mera is supposed to be a waterbender. Sure the movie Wanted to make Orm the main villian.. But none of his scenes really felt put together quite right enough to achieve that.

As far as dc goes, this was one of their better movies. It definitely made aquaman cool and not the joke of dc. I'm just frustrated with dc because they have so much material to work from and money galore and they keep messing it up. There was so much cheese in Aquaman, I dunno where to begin. Sure, it looked pretty with the underwater Pandora and stuff, but dialogue, pacing, and character development was complete shit. They seemed to waffle Aquaman's general character and root motive. They didn't need to waste twenty-plus minutes on CGI-faced parents explaining everything. If he had a chip on his shoulder because the world hasn't been particularly kind and kin he shares half his blood with killed his mother, one of their own, then it should've played a lot more than that. Instead, it was rushed. And then the shittily positioned and built up romance. Cheesy ass dialogue, horrible and obvious like...superhero slow turns....like...no. I also like how a man's body was pinned by a stone pillar, but when Aquaman lifts it, he just scuttles away unscathed. Movie was bad and it should feel bad. We've seen superhero movies done right and with the right kind of pacing and depth. There's no excuse for shit like that.

Young Aquaman asking if his mommy doesn't love him. Most corny quips they tried to whip up to sound badass coming from Aquaman but just fell short due to lack of development. "Redheads! Am I right!?" When Mera jumps out of the plane. Only good one was like the one mentioned in the video...the peeing one...which is pretty sad. Super slow turns? One right off the bad from silly kid Aquaman flashing his eyes after the fish. Another when he gets his costume. Another at the very beginning when he ends up in the submarine and he turns just as a little steam jets out like we're watching a 90's WWE match. Black Manta? Rushed, cobbled together, and not given enough screen time for anyone to remotely care that he comes back to try and and fail to slap Aquaman. Also..."Hey...you couldn't defeat Aquaman because you didn't have Atlantean gear! Here!" *Black Manta proceeds to take perfect Atlantean gear he likely has hardly any knowledge of since it's supposed to be super advanced and fancy lost tech and dismantles it to make his own rig with a mix of his own shitty human tech and human knowledge.* Why am I assuming he's dumb? If he was so good at tech stuff, he wouldn't need to be a pirate and he wouldn't keep the shitty arm blade thinking it was some great signature when it's generic and no one facing a superhero would go, "Man...I'm sure this guy that stands up against enemies never has a blade drawn on him like this. I'm unique. I'm keeping this in so he remembers me. I'm a super villain!" Neither Mera nor Aquaman are very well developed. Put two underdeveloped characters in an equally rushed and underdeveloped relationship type thing, and it's gonna look funky. There simply wasn't enough time because they had so much shit to establish in the universe. They should've taken more care in building the chemistry or waited, but they crammed it all into the same movie. It rivals Black Panther because it's the holiday season and standards are so low for DC that you don't need to do much. It isn't a horrible movie, but is it Black Panther? Fuck. No. Not in a long shot by way of depth of character and development. But yes pretty visuals and generally overhyped. Black Panther was good, but I wasn't left absolutely gobsmacked the way some people talked about it. Aquaman shares the universe with Wonder Woman, whose movie managed to set some sort of serious bar for DC and bring them to a different level. Can't look at Wonder Woman and some of its depth in world and character building and then look at Aquaman and go, "Oh, yeah, way better." It just wasn't that strong. It played off as cheesy.
