I also got one, and I can tell that it is one of my biggest insecurity. I could be more attractive if I have a symmetrical face. There are times when it hurts my feelings seeing my self like this. When I was taking a flip selfie and I can literally see the difference. And the pain, it hurts me so much :
@elladarko6851 Жыл бұрын
@@tyraplays4180I have that problem too. And I used to think that other people would notice that one specific side or angle of my face is uglier than the other, but then I thought of my friends and families faces. Sure, I can visibly see some asymmetries. But I cannot make out “one ugly angle” or a less attractive side when studying their faces. Try it out! You might notice that your friends one cheekbone sits lower, or their jaw is wider on one side, but I’m sure you cannot find a specific ugly angle or side (if they’re conventionally attractive) Other people don’t see your face that way. Stop worrying friend

The worst part is that I only became aware of it in the last 5 years and I am 38 now. I tried the meditation, facial exercises.. nothing helps. The route is so much deeper than I can fix it from the surface level. Only now I starting to accept it. God help you all who deal with rhe same issue.
@shirin9452 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think while facially symmetric people do have a better shot at looking good, it’s kind of like having clear skin-of course it helps but it won’t make you attractive on its own. I don’t actually know if I’m attractive, but I will say that when I was younger and realized that my mirror image is a far rounder, sweeter and plumper looking one than my reversed mirror image, it was very upsetting for a while. Over time I realized that I actually preferred my actual face in some ways, as I have higher and more defined cheekbones and less facial fat on the side of my face people see first. My eye is rounder on people’s left which gives an ingenue vibe instead of the almond shaped right. The side of my nose people see first is narrower and more shapely. I then began theorizing that most people are probably better off with their actual face than their mirror image face. I’ve gathered some evidence for this, first when I saw my dad yell at someone in a restaurant with a mirror all around us. His mirror image was extremely crooked-mouthed and slightly alarming. Years later, I looked at my sister’s mirror image while doing her makeup and absolutely blanched. Her mirror image is so not cute compared to her actual face. I practically dragged her to a reverse mirror to explain that she didn’t actually look like that to other people! I recently noticed that while I thought my mirror image’s eyes were prettier than my actual eyes, they actually also showed asymmetry in a far more obvious way (the smaller eye would be what people see first instead real life where the bigger eye is what people see first). I’m still not sure, but I think that there may be something there. Essentially, what I’m positing is, whether your face has asymmetry or not, it’s likely in the most attractive configuration your features would achieve. But I’m not sure if I’m right ofc

My art teacher used to say: “if you make your faces too symmetrical they become uncanny”
@MaximilianonMars11 ай бұрын
It doesn't help at all when people take photos with lens distortion on them, that will mess up your perception if you assume it captured reality accurately (it does not). Objective measurements, correcting the photos for distortion, or reducing built-in errors when taking the photo would help reduce the exaggeration of features. A few of these photos look like they were taken with wide-angle lenses; the centers of the images are distorted.

I do agree not all asymmetrical faces are ugly. But mine doesn't look attractive even a bit. I've marcus gunn jaw winking phenomenon with slight ptosis in my right eye and the entire right side of my face looks different. Even my lower lip in right side looks slightly bigger than the left. My right cheek looks fatter. Ugh, im legit ugly 💀✨

Symmetrical people are genetically superior & healthier than the average person, hence why it is rare to see them. Dentofacial Asymmetry is correlated to asymmetry of the spine (scoliosis. kyphosis, etc) & problems with the other parts of the body as well. Asymmetry leads to the body wearing down faster than it should do to imbalance, hence teeth on one side of the mouth have more damage than the other or one knee or foot has problems while the other does not.

@@leonaj.5835this is the abstract of your study, stop spreading false information. Cues of phenotypic condition should be among those used by women in their choice of mates. One marker of better phenotypic condition is thought to be symmetrical bilateral body and facial features. However, it is not clear whether women use symmetry as the primary cue in assessing the phenotypic quality of potential mates or whether symmetry is correlated with other facial markers affecting physical attractiveness. Using photographs of men's faces, for which facial symmetry had been measured, we found a relationship between women's attractiveness ratings of these faces and symmetry, but the subjects could not rate facial symmetry accurately. Moreover, the relationship between facial attractiveness and symmetry was still observed, even when symmetry cues were removed by presenting only the left or right half of faces. These results suggest that attractive features other than symmetry can be used to assess phenotypic condition. We identified one such cue, facial masculinity (cheek-bone prominence and a relatively longer lower face), which was related to both symmetry and full- and half-face attractiveness. It's not actually looking for a link between actual health and facial symmetry

In real life asymmetry should be the least of your worries, if you need to constantly be on camera (aka a celebrity) then asymmetry is a big disadvantage but the common people aren’t so I never really get why so many people are insecure abt it, yes it may make you less photogenic but it’s not like thousands of people will dissect the photo and point out every flaw in you

The exact same for me! Longer left jaw means my shorter right jaw looks droopier/saggier. I also have a crossbite on my right side, but if it’s a natural crossbite you’ve had from a young age, fixing the crossbite won’t fix the bone development. Like the other commenter said, it’s often due to overall body structure, so you may have mild scoliosis. I do, my right hip and leg is also slightly higher than my left and slightly unbalanced shoulders too.

Well I have asymmetry in eye elevation plus distance, my nose, lips and jaw too, plus a receding chin and long nose, oh yeah my ears too. But i do have somewhat nice skin not the best mind you and I'm slim. And did i mention I'm transgirl so my arms are thicker and hips narrower and legs shorter and no boobs, whew. I've always been teased as an ugly person growing up, asians are mean with this sort of thing. but strangely men are attracted to me, not all and maybe not severely but at least 70 percent. Yes my profile picture is me in the best angle. And i do sometimes think I'm beautiful in a mirror when I'm not puffy and good hair days, but mind you i know my flaws but at a later age no one really points them out. So yeah I don't know how it all comes together. Maybe people are nice, maybe my personality is great, maybe I carry myself well, maybe the men of other ethnicities have a different sense of what looks good or they are not picky ( I have moved to South India). I would be a good case study on this.
