You can also quiet down and exhaust system quite a lot by using multiple in-line. Common on 4 and 6 cyl setups with single exits, but could also be done with duals. In the midpipe section, use a long straight flow 3 chamber Magnaflow, still straight through but has 3 chambers to tone down noise. Then, another straight flow at the rear. Quieter and arguably better sounding than a Flowmaster and flows WAY better since you're still straight flow from at least the cat back of if you are cat less it's straight flow all through. Just some extra weight and cost.

When it had the stock h pipe with gutted cats same fm mufflers and tailpipes it was raunchy and raspy . @MrBillrookard5 жыл бұрын
@@Fasterproms1 The arduino controllers are cheap ($10-15), you need an h-bridge module ($5-10), I have a tiny OLED screen to display status ($10), and to do it properly an INA219 current sensor ($10). Then I cracked open the motor casing and soldered wires from the input pins on the connector direct to the motor leads, and glued it all back together because they usually have their own electronics inside controlled by the PCM and the companies don't release the proprietary programming info on how the modules actually work and what signals they require. I'm not sure on the size of the GM mufflers, but the reason I picked the Ford unit was that it is HALF (13" x 12" x 5") the size of the Focus muffler (25" x 14" x 4"). This gives me enough space to loop the output around to the back and keep the stock location.

On my 67 GTO, I ran headers into a Torque tube, for best torque and power, you spray cheap paint onto a piece of 1.5ft exhaust pipe, bolt to the collectors, and run the car few times hard to get a good burn mark, then let everything cool down and take off the pipes bolted and where it starts to burn the paint with band saw or hack saw, cut it off right where burn starts.

Fit long tube tunned length headers, (extractors).Take the x-pipe cross over out, for a true dual exhaust, no crossover, that will take the drone out & give a good exhaust note. Ditch those flow masters, use two 10" hotdogs in place of the flow master mufflers. Tune the extensions after the mufflers, should sound best about 6-8" long. You might get some resonating in the cabin with this at low speed though.

That would give a more steady flow through the converters which would improve their effectiveness, and reduce the effective restrictions of the converters. That makes the capacity of BOTH converters available to EACH header collector.

To get optimum results from your cats the closer to the headers the better they work
@vincentrobinette15075 жыл бұрын
@@bbbnnuuuhgg7016 I do believe that it's because of heat. It might be possible to header wrap the pipes between the collectors and the cats, to keep the exhaust temperature as close as possible to collector temperature before it enters the cats. If the car has oxygen sensors, they need to be in the collectors, for the quickest response time.

Whats your favorite magnaflow muffler for performance and sound? Ive got a 1994 marquis, no emissions test for its age 😉 Thanks for the video! Awesome information there, especially your maf trick! Genious!

A good muffler even a straight through muffler ( not a glass pack ) won’t drone... i have pypes violators on my 88GT dumped right at the muffler, absolutely no drone whatsoever even being straight through... vs my little brothers car that has a very similar exhaust to that Vic with tail pipes, it drones bad... I really recommend pypes violator mufflers, the sound is absolutely amazing and the mufflers are cheaper than the competition, and the build quality is really nice!

Jeremy By chance, have you looked into DynamicEFI for tuning the Pops Corvette? It’s essentially a modified factory ECU that allows a USB to laptop interface and tuning without Prom cards. It seems like a better way to tune over burning chips, and it’ll leave it as original as possible... and you could always return it back by just swapping ECUs. Just a thought to wring the most outta the ol’ horse while keeping it OG as possible.

I come for the tuning, I stay for the Goldens. Nothing like a proud lab returning with his prey. My black lab had the exact same proud strut.
