I am an intj. My closest friend was a enfp a few years back. He was very open with his emotions, free and extremely social (in my opinion). He helped me be more “outgoing” and I helped keep him out of trouble. We were opposites in every way but we encouraged eachother to be the best versions of ourselves. Unfortunately he had some addiction problems (nothing illegal) and made morally questionable decisions (decisions that could end up hurting someone). I began questioning if the friendship was worth keeping. One day I decided to test if he could be trusted. He basically promised me he wasn't going to do something but I already knew when and where he was going to do it. So I showed up caught him in the act. Since he failed the test I just cut all contact with him. I didn't care so much about the act itself. The fact that he could not be trusted meant there was no way we could still be friends. I know that he does not represent all enfps. He was just an unhealthy version of one. Im sure he's a lot better now. (Ignore any typos, it's 2am for me)

I do notice since having a girlfriend for about a few months that the moments when I feel most engaged are when she says things like "I feel comfortable around you." If you feel drained then you may be in your shadow personality. For an ENFP the shadow is the INFJ. When this happens your empathy comes to the front.

@@M.Moadeli123 No, but the cause of being in your shadow might be unhealthy. It's natural to transition into your shadow when you are tired, malnourished, or need more sleep. It's also natural to transition into your shadow when you are stressed or angry. All of these are unhealthy over time. It's also possible to transition into your shadow if your personality clashes with another personality. FOR EXAMPLE: I am an INTJ and my mother is an ENFJ. We both have strong Ni and Ni can only communicate with Ne. That means if I use Ni to tell my mother what I want, it triggers her Ne critic, she falls into her INFP shadow, and then tells me that my desires are dangerous and fake. If SHE uses her Ni to talk to ME, it triggers my Ne nemesis, I fall into my ENTP shadow, and I accuse her of plotting against me and sabotaging my dreams. These clashes of personality aren't unhealthy per se, but they can put a strain on our relationship. We have both become self-aware of it and are able to work through it each time (ENFJ parents are amazing like that). The point is that if YOU are surrounded by people with strong Fi, and those people are constantly bombarding you with info, it will cause you to fall into your shadow in order to deal with it using Fe. It may simply be that the people you are surrounded by just don't mesh well with your normal personality... More importantly, if you are aware of what is happening to you, you can learn to be comfortable with your shadow personality and control it. Both personalities are you, so there is no problem with it by itself. Keep in mind, though, that you should take care of yourself with proper diet and sleep.

What he said is not entirely true. From my personal experience, we never struggled with emotions and values, because we always made it clear in the beginning, what our values are. So if there are values that contradicts and can’t be compromised, we just call it off. It is that easy. We don’t force what clearly won’t work. Waste time and energy. (Enfp here btw) So yeah, but you can always trust an INTJ to be honest, even with their feelings. You just need to learn to understand them. I have an INTJ mom, so maybe that explains why I understand INTJ(especially female) a lot more, and they are also very rare to encounter. Unlike INFJ, I have too many of them around me(thought they were supposed to be rare too😂)

If it works for you it works for you 🤷‍♂️. I would imagine that would be a very cold relationship though if the typings are correct. An INTJ could be fine with that considering relationships take up only a smaller fraction of their lives, but I could see that causing problems for the INFP and their romanticism. Just a thought.

I’m an INTJ and I know this is unrelated but I used to have an ENTP friend who I was extremely close with and now he hates me. My ENFP friend and I are really close and have been since we were best friends sophomore year, but I haven’t hung out with anyone really since corona started, though anytime we could hangout and itd be as good as it used to be. From my observations, Te child (enfp) and Te parent (intj) tend to love each other and support each others thirst for status, when they team up they tend to cover each others wish to be a "brand" in and of themselves. The Ti child (infj) tends to have an iconoclastic nature which can make the clash between enfps and infjs constant, as the Ti child cant help but calling out the logical fallacies and the mismatch between the enfps outspoken Fi values and their actual Te actions. Ti child to enfp - "but cant you see you dont live what you preach - AT ALL?" Enfp retreats, feeling unfairly exposed and butthurt.

I feel like most of the ENFPs and INTJs here didn't bother to get to minute 7:00+ in the video, where C.S. Joseph explained that ENFPs and INTJs do NOT have good emotional romantic compatibility with each other because they are always competing for status over each other. Too much self-interested Fi emanates out from both users, which means they are usually clashing with each other over whose Fi needs are to be met first.

For INTJs: ESFJ>ENFP You can't have a sexual relationship without an emotional relationship, especially if you're female. Who wants someone who puts their status and value system above your own. The first guy that ever actively pursued me was an ENFP and they just completely freak me out I don't think I can be in a relationship with someone who laughs maniacally and says "This girl is so cute! That's actually hilarious!" whenever I'm trying to get people to take me seriously or answer questions or disagree with the teacher in class. It just made me go bright red from embarrassment which made me even more embarrassed and I'm still scarred from the experience.

An ESFJ is a way better match for INTJs I would argue, and really intimate relationships need that shared affection or else it's too easy to have a breakdown in trust and bond.

But I feel like he was offended that I wasn't interested in him, so started being even more loud and obnoxious. Something an ESFJ would never do...they'd just make you soup so you can like them. Guess which I'd rather have...warm soup or a laughing maniac.

As an INTJ, the best long term relationship I've ever had by far was with an ENTP. It was very fun and intellectual, and kinky as fuck, and I loved that. I've also been in a long term relationship with an ENFP and while I guess it was more stereotypically "normal" in terms of emotions, it simply wasn't as incredibly fascinating to myself in terms of my own sheer sexual interest and absolute "biological caveman" level of desire to be with her. I've often been accused by various partners over the years of being really non-committal and having a low sex drive, but with her, it was like: Holy Crap! So this is what love and lust feels like! I wanted to own her heart, do it with her every day and ruin her body with HUNDREDS of babies, hell maybe even THOUSANDS, as we populated whole continental landmasses together. Im a single high quality INTJ, I will tell you where you can find us if you tell me where I can find ENFPs, deal? Look for places where people come to deliberately improve themselves and grow and put in serious work, like co-working spaces, gym and other events specifically to grow a skill INTJs would be interested in. For example Im working on growing a KZbin channel and will go abroad for 6 months to work as a digital nomad and connect with likeminded people, go to the gym there and grow as a person. I hope to meet ENFPs there as well.

As an INTJ female who is dating an ENFP male, I must say that while we connect with each other intensely as friends - I am struggling to develop feelings of attraction towards him. This is because my personality is very "masculine" (logical) and he exudes a ton of bubbly femine energy. While I find this adorable, and love the fact that it makes me SO comfortable around him (he's so gentle and understanding, it's like I can do no wrong), at the same time I have a hard time swooning for someone who is sort of "girly" in his level of enthusiasm and emotionality. I hope this will change over time as in other ways we are very compatible - similar in ways that matter (both intuitive) and different in ways that make each other facinating to the other. To be fair, this is a problem I have struggled with my whole life. It can be a burden to be on the fringes of personality extremes, to be a female who is too rational. The only men I have truly ever been attracted to are hyper-masculine ones and they tend to come with many features that make them difficult long term relationship prospects. I would love to find a deeply masculine man who is balanced when it comes to relationships. I need my man to be more masculine than me to feel true sexual attraction. I would imagine the problem with pedagogue relationships is aging. At some point your sex drives will decline, maybe due to change in appearance or decline in hormones. Hormone supplementation may help, but will both people really put in the extra emotional and physical work at that point--especially after a serious fight? People tend toward the path of least resistance. I would guess pedagogue relationships are ones in which people get divorced after like 30 years of marriage or engage in "emotional cheating" or agree to an open relationship. I mean, what happens if you fight while long distance? What if some trauma like a car accident or cancer diagnosis prevents you from having sex for an extended period of time? Seems like after a while you could get trapped in a loveless relationship/marriage (if you don't get a divorce, separate, or breakup). Pedagogue relationships are probably good for dating and hooking up at any point in your lives though.

If I may: I've had many INTJ friendships as an ENFP, and they're far from perfect. The absorbant behavior of Ni meshes so well with overflowing Ne, but beyond a shared love of ideas, I have seen my Fi become a sore point for INTJ's. I've even made a point to develop my Te (and Ti) over the years to fit the logical rigor of the INTJ, but it's often not enough. And when an ENFP shares their Ne-Fi dreams and hopes with an INTJ, they are usually too busy pursuing their own goals.

ENFP are hard to deal with for an INTJ because ENFP need constant attention or they run. Conflicting the need of INTJ alone time. If ENFP doesn't vocalise their needs in a rational way the INTJ is confused and maybe personally attacked because when you throw some emotional outburst at INTJ, they just think they failed, which is a huge fear of INTJ. Also if the INTJ is intimidating and pushy with advise the ENFP backs off, cause they hate being told what to do. But it's also very rewarding to an INTJ; ENFP is super understanding and patient with INTJ. And INTJ needs to be pushed into social interactions. Also they share the same interest in deep understanding of various topics. So the INTJ can throw all kind of knowledge at them when other types just get bored.

There is no data or theory besides the one you’ve originated that states that Sensing dominants are sexually compatible with one another. Even from just a basic logical standpoint it doesn’t really make sense. People tend to be sexually attracted to what is foreign, dangerous or taboo to them, not what is familiar and relatable to them. As soon as you can provide a rationale to support your notion, I’ll accept that you’re not underthinking it. But until that time arrives, I’ll remain convinced.

@@CSJoseph personally, I have evidence to back my own theory as I researched the types of my childhood celebrity crushes (I’m INTJ) and they were almost without exception either ISFPs or ESFJs. I personally find myself much more sexually attracted to the protectiveness, loyalty and unconditional support that I tend to receive from these types than I do to the constantly needing help, flakiness, and “poor me syndrome” of the ENFP. I have however had some nice friendships with ENxPs, but there was nothing particularly taboo or sexually exciting about the dynamic between our types. I feel VULNERABLE with an ISFP or an ESFJ, which is a key part of sexual compatibility in my estimation, the ability for each type to make the other feel naked and vulnerable rather than to make one feel familiarity or kinship. It’s the danger that’s exciting, not the familiarity, for what it’s worth.

@@malakashraf2801 It's because of the positioning of their functions, both lead with a feeling function and follow it up with a sensing function, while INTJs lead with an intuition function while their secondary function is a thinking function. In this model ENTPs are also sexually compatible with ISFPs and ESFJs since they, like the INTJ, lead with an intuition function and follow it up with a thinking function.

C.S joseph I was curious about how you describe the two couples being in competition with each other. I was curious if this same issue happens with an INFP and INTJ. I am with an INTJ and I was typed as an INFP and ENFP. I did notice an issue with my INTJ being in competition with me and it made no sense because we are a team. I feel in a relationship you should want the best for each other. I wasn't sure if it made me more in line with INFP because I am not in competition with him, but for some odd reason he is always in competition with me.
