Don't confuse being shy with being introverted. They aren't the same thing. I'm an introvert but if I have something to say I will say it. I won't be scared to speak up like a shy person would.

For a lot of extroverts, the idea of recharging by yourself is just too odd of a concept and they have a hard time comprehending it, so they just assume you have to be shy. It just makes more sense to them that way.

Personally, the best way to set aside introversion and be better socially for me is to talk to other introverts. Most of the time introverts actually want to talk to someone (just not a large group of people) but just don't have the courage to.

Its bad to be too introverted because its hard to be successful by yourself. You are always relying on other people for stuff and if you're introverted that can be a problem. For example, even though I got good grades I've had some trouble getting things like letters of recommendation because my professors didn't know me very well and I never took the initiative to do any 'networking'. Of course you don't have to become completely extroverted or anything, but you'll generally be better off if you socialize a bit.

I am as true an introvert as can exist. I have not had any friends, nor a girlfirend since 8 August 2000. I work third shift job completely alone. I have not socialised with anybody since 2000, as well. I now only interact with humans in a manner that a client would interact with a service provider or a merchant. There are a lot of benefits in having nobody in your life. I would recommend social isolation to anybody. It is far worth the loneliness experienced. Being social in the 21st century is antiquated and no longer necessary. It actually hinders us more than benefits us.
@cristina50187 жыл бұрын
Introvert here. I like being alone. I have friends who wanna meet up every once in a while, but I would pretty much prefer being alone and at home. It drains me so much to go out and mingle. But I have no problems with work. I earn a good amount of money despite it being a job that requires very minimal human interaction (and I feel so lucky to have found this job). And I love it. I love my current lifestyle. I feel more alive than how I was when I was forcing myself to be more social. I'm happier now that I've embraced being an introvert, being who I truly am. I thought that I would never find love like this... but I still did. And Im glad I stayed true to who I was. Because I met a guy who loves me for me, not being someone who pretends to be fun in front of many people.

Natsu dragneel 1. you are "born this way" , so you can't change and sincerely you don't need to change 2. yes, you can improve your social skills with enough courage, time and patience from a more social-open person 3. but the best thing you can is embrace your introversion in order to be one step ahead of most people. As an introvert, for example you are better at observing and taking good decisions. So you read much more things about a stranger than most people and are selective enough to not meet toxic/bad people. All you need to do is to try to socialise with the people you consider ok and use those extra details to spice up the conversation. I hope it helped you!

I'm so introverted that I've never needed a test to tell me so. This video is by far the best description of not only introversion, but also of my own personality that I've ever come across! It's sad that there are people (my own girlfriend, a HUGE extrovert, being one of them) that confuse inward thinking for selfishness or narcissism even though I'm the type of person that will go out of my way to avoid stepping on people's toes 99% of the time. It's probably not a good relationship trait to only think about theories or ideas all the time, but it doesn't mean we don't care. It's just not instinctive to reach out to others first all the time :(

I am an introvert but i'm an exception to talking or riding a bus when i'm spoken to i answer the best answer that i can muster but most of the times when i'm the one in need i actually think what to say, how to say it over and over again until i spent 20 minutes thinking to a 1 minute action i feel that i must not screw and bother somebody else in a bus or public transportation i'm always on guard even when wearing earphones(classical music) i'm always on constant alert when i it is time for me to hop off i think a mile(figuratively) before how to do it, which part of me moves first is it the hand or foot or do i turn towards then stand up when seated etc the nervousness in me (60%- on transportation & 89.90%- when talking). Now i am applying in a fast food chain and hope that i can overcome this trait which admitedly i love for most of the times. Plus i don't know how to i guess its called small talk people so most of the people i know i classify as casual or business acquiantance specially in school but i do have friends those that came to me much to my surprise. I love the feeling of it that somebody will actually ask how are you and give advice and aid etc.

I'm also an introvert, and almost all of what you described is very accurate for me, and one of the things that stood out to me is how you've mentioned that introverts are different from how they're commonly portrayed. Which is ever-so-certainly true. It's also difficult Especially when there are a lot of extroverts in my family who don't understand my introversion at all. And whenever I'm quiet and rephrasing my words in my mind before I speak in the best and most thought-provoking way I could, they get angry and take it offensively. They think of me as rude, a "victim", doesn't listen and that I'm ignoring them. When in reality, they don't get the truth at all, and those flaws they falsely perceive in us is exactly what they're doing. It's a pain a lot of introverts have to deal with -_- I know that was completely off-topic and all... But I just felt the need to get this out there for some reason... x3 But of course, thank you so much for this video! ^^

Being an introvert is difficult because often times we get caught up in our own minds and tend to miss out on what's going on around us. This is usually very confusing to people on the outside looking in, as we don't always communicate everything that's going on in our world to them. We're also very selective about the people that we choose to socialize with. Meaning that if we do talk to you then it's because we've observed your behavior and noticed some of the common characteristics that we share which brings us comfort in socializing and befriending you. Overall, being very selective as to who we choose to socialize with and what we say to them makes it difficult to connect to others and maintain relationships with them. We're aware of this, which is usually why this isn't on the top of our list of priorities to begin with. With that being said, if you can relate to some of my thoughts (being that the majority of this people are introverts and are experiencing the same thing) and would like to further discuss this matter or are just looking for somebody to talk to, then follow me on social media, send me a message and lets be friends. he's right guys. liking to be mostly alone doesnt necessarily make you an introvert. my gym teacher once explained that we tend to think we are introverts cause we compare ourselves to the most social people we know. in reality its a spectrum where statistically you dont fall on. he said "if youre running in a race and having other people beside you pushes you to go farther and quicker. I dont believe youre an introvent. and you arent held back by it if you are an introvert. just flex your social ability like a muscle since it is a crucial skill we all need at some bare minimum"

For success, there should be no preference of one over the other. One can be the opposite trait if the situation calls for it. It is mentioned probably twice in the video where a person can be fluid between the two. The worst thing a person can do is stick to a trait for too long even if the opportunity or situation calls for it.

Coty Lee same, but it's a double edged swords my friend... use to do that and For 5 years I was with this girl until I found out that she cheated on my with her co-worker. Her reason: "he likes to go to places with me and he's not afraid of talking to other people. You are a really good guy, but you are too boring and I don't understand how you can live under a monotonous routine like that." Yeah like that's a good reason for cheating... because of her I can't even talk to women anymore, thinking they are the same and if I try again I will only end up betrayed again. That's what you get when you date an extrovert. My point is: don't act like your girlfriend/ boyfriend is a "savior" and don't forget to take care of yourself too in a relationship otherwise you become "addicted" to said person and when you loose them....God have mercy on your soul...the pain becomes unbearable. Luckily I have been single for 2 years so I don't feel that much pain anymore, but I can't love anymore either...

Yep I've definitely learned more to grow into my own person after a painful breakup. I feel much more confident with who I am now than before. This was an awesome animation and an even better simplified explanation on introversion. I myself tend to be more of an introvert but am more of an ambivert. I don't mind being around too many people (in a group) and can definitely give a speech in front of many. I do like to spend my free time alone and will even dine/explore alone. Funny thing is that people really believe that I have mountains of friends (because I am outgoing) but don't know that I am reserved and gear most of my conversations towards the other person. Anyway, really informative and entertaining. Thanks for posting.

I am an introvert, and i don't need to be a social person, because i don't see any reason to be like you, it is like you are saying to me, why are you happy, be an unhappy person like me, why, i am the happiest person on the earth, when i am alone, and play my instrument, or draw, or in my shop to make a furniture, so why i have to be a social, and waste my time with talking, in a time that i don't like to talk or to have friends, to go parties, all of these things are just wasting of time at least for me. it is like asking you, what color do you like, Red, no no you have to like mine, because most of us like Yellow, then you will be good, or see a beauty from your corner, and think that what you see is just the best, what others find beauty is not beauty but bad, so being Introvert is something that most of social people can not understand how it is beauty, benefit, tranquility, freedom, far from bla bla bla, this guy has done that that and that, she argued yesterday with that girl and bla bla bla. what a pathetic people you are. learn the most important thing in this world, and it is, Be just who you are, and let others be who they are. that is the beauty of life.

I'm weird, when I'm alone, I'm super quiet around strangers or people that aren't really my friends but when I'm with my friends I just become super outgoing and "fun" like I get this boost of confidence wth

I'm an ambivert. It can sound like heaven to love social events, but also solitude in the same measure and want both from time to time. But the thing is, if you need both, then you must make time for both and be ambitious enough to get better at both, because you're not extremely good at any one of them (you feel nervous in social events when you know almost nobody and can get bored like hell alone). But this is what I love most about being a ambivert, I see life like a continuous challenge and enjoy whatever this day may be. At MBTI I scored extremely extravert like 90% , which is quite not "ambivert" but a test can never be 100% true so I'm happy with it. My personality type is ENFJ "The Protagonist", which is close to reality and other types which describe me almost as good are ENTJ "Commander", ENFP "Campaigner". Find joy every day!

This was very helpful in my childhood up to a point. It can be hobbling after too long. Practical experience interacting in public is key to making this fluid and picking up on social rather than verbal cues. I'm still working on that myself. Every time I mildly offend someone, I do tend to run for the hills, though. "Where have you been for 3 months?" Oh just busy... with family... and work... I was swamped... (I'm the sorriest? Please forgive?)

Do people really need a VIDEO to know they are introverts ?

@HowToTop107 жыл бұрын
Well, the video has more than that. But yea, good point
@LxstinNeverland7 жыл бұрын
It's mainly for stupid people who don't know what an introvert is, or that they exist. It's for extroverts to also understand. See, I had a friend once.. She was a major extrovert. Then, we didn't really know these two words. But she always wanted to go in public, I always wanted to stay home. And she just couldn't ever understand why. If she knew today that I'm an introvert, and she understood what that means, everything would make perfect sense to her.

It’s like when someone asks me something I answer and talk for a little but then I’m quiet again and listen to the conversation of the others. And sometimes I think „you should say something!” and then I don’t know what to say.

I just like to be alone tbh i like to eat by myself and watch movies by myself because i feel more comfortable that way. I have friends but i rarely hang out with them only at school. I try to talk to people but the conversation are too short. I like being an introvert but i wish i was like those people who have thousands of friends and would call you to hang out. People rarely call me to hang out or text me, maybe because i decline it lol

Would you mind doing a video explaining in-depth what an ambivert is? Based on what I've read on it thus far, I find I identify with that of all three of the terms fully. But I've also read that ambiversion is not even a certified official label.

Many of the individuals you named were believed to be on the Autism spectrum, also, many individuals who label themselves as introverted actually have anxiety and if they get help for the anxiety find they enjoy being around others more.

Anvita Chandra That's normal. Introverts do not find any reason to waste time in small talk with people they don't hang out with most times. We only select a small group of friends, and we call it good. We don't need a party to be social, or content with our circle of friends.

The fact that introvert makes the change for the world is true because the logic of this type of people absolutely outstanding from others. This must be the main reason why this type of people can't get along with large amount of people because introvert seem to be the person who innovate the thing and being beyonder and go far from the point of normal people who associate as the group and follow the same transaction over and over which seem to be boring.

It is always idiotic when people say things like introverts are more smart or extroverts are more friendly. Introversion and Extroversion is differentiated on the basis of "Preference to stimulation". Introverts have low stimulation environments like their own bedroom or a quiet cafe with books as their preferred stimulation zone, while extroverts like high stimulation environments. It does not mean introverts are shy or less friendly, or more smart. Introverts can have better tendencies for being smart because they spend a lot more time with thoughts and books, but this doesn't guarantee that an introvert shall be smarter than an extrovert. I lie mostly on the introvert side of the spectrum, but I do know people who like to party all the live long day and can beat me in life philosophy or chess any waking moment.
@LxstinNeverland7 жыл бұрын
Sanyam Malhotra I'm so glad you know what the difference between the two are. Many say "introverts are shy and can't be social". No, being social has nothing to do with it. It's how we recharge, that's what makes us different.

Everyone has heard of these. And yet you throw in "Embrace the Nerves" with No follow on. Are you kidding me? Yes, I'm what you might call an introvert. I love my cave. I return to it as soon as I can whenever I'm forced to be out in the other places. I see my cave on a mountain, and I'd just as soon throw rocks at anyone trying to get here. So, yes. An Introvert.

Hey Practical Pshology! I have another awesome video idea. Can you make a video on how to get out of awkward situations. I also recently noticed I was much more of a leader than I originally thought. This has not happened to me yet but I feel it will; I will be asked a question I dont know the answer to. I can't say I don't know because the person is looking up to me for guidance. What should I say? Thank you for everything Practical Pshology!
