This works people. Similar to cracking a whip. A whip would never crack if we just continued to drag the the handle forward. Decelerate to accelerate. Good stuff. And it took me too many years to learn this.

wow this was me. today in rehearsal i stopped forcing my grip torque on the club through the ball and just 'let go' as i came into the ball instead. immediately improving my quality of strike. perfect blade 6 and pw irons. i dropped my club on ground at one point in sheer amazement

Awesome! Great information, I feel the light bulb just came on!

This also aligns with all the pro’s creating hand speed early in the downswing, as explained by AMG. Makes it relatively easy to align the forces at impact I find and it feels really free if done correctly. I don’t see why this doesn’t have 10 million views by now. It also makes you feel that you can energize the club with a small and explosive body movement, absolute gold here imo!

Bought a pro couple months ago; will try to use it this way for more success. Two problems I have: 2 shoulder surgeries and poor range of motion results in my backswing ending at 9 o'clock position; and the ground here in AZ is like rock, so do not use the target piece (but will take it to MT next week). Will try to incorporate that swing ending position u show even with my abbreviated swing.

Can you do the entire sequence with the wrecking ball drill? Or, at least a little bit. Maybe this will help some of us with the leap between the wrecking ball and the full swing at the 4.40 or so time on the video. This may help me (and others) understand the sequencing. I have noticed that the more I focus on hip, thorax, arms, club, the better the Pro looks. But, on the range, the "hit" or wrist torque takes over. Anyway, I am going to try to add more of the sequence to the wrecking ball drill.

Great info. I've really been analyzing my grip pressure lately. Can't count the number of times I squeezed the club trying to hit too hard.
@danmartingolf3 жыл бұрын
Grip pressure is definitely something to be aware of. Anytime you over-squeeze the club you are likely interfering with the natural swing or recovering from a move that transferred energy in an unproductive direction.

Excellent video! a fallow up on my comment on another video about leveraging, I like the way you said swing energy rather than the thought of forcing leverage, some golfers comment “how to you hit the ball that far and it look like you barely swung at the ball”, to me the swings that looks violent or hard are golfers who’s fallow through looks like they put all their might or energies in the fallow through, So all the accumulative Speed happens behind the ball! any other down swing drills besides the “pro swing trainer”? Good Video!

The advantage that is gained from the rigid structure of the golf club as opposed to a rope is in its shape and its arrangement that allows the golfer to deliver the center of mass of the club face to golf ball in a direction and loft that is predetermined by the design of the golf club. Also it would be really difficult to set up to the ball reliably with a rope as the actual shaft. Swinging a golf club like a rope, however, defines the real force of the swing. It is not an inward (centripetal) nor an outward (centrifugal) force, tension is a stretching force. A stretching of your hands and the golf club around a fixed pivot (wrist joints) that causes the acceleration of the golf club.

Dan Martin Golf! 😃 well said 👍👍 a year ago I saw someone roll up a towel and swing it, (I put some duct tape on each end😳) you can’t swing the towel without sequencing and rotation that centrifugal force your talking about, that makes the towel straighten, when you do it correctly I feel the pull at the other end, it’s surprising how much pull a bath towel will give. thanks 👍👍 look forward to more!

Malaska and Nicklaus pivoting the club without casting "stretches" the club AND hands AROUND THE WRISTS, so the club can swing around out in front on you and through! All starts with the pelvis sit turning in transition.

There is no such thing as a single secret in golf. But this is as close as it gets. Try using a PW with small swings. Slow your arms down as you near impact and you will not believe the “free” speed you get. Completely counterintuitive but totally effective. Relaxed arms are crucial.
@danmartingolf Жыл бұрын
The reality is that if you allow the extending of the radius to drive the motion, then you will automatically get a "slowing" of the arms and a speeding of the club. The golf swing must be looked at as an "unfolding" not as an attempt to get the body in the right place before the club swings!
@petecross22 Жыл бұрын
@@danmartingolf thank you for that clarification.

I've watched hundreds of golf lesson videos and I've never heard this before...so you must be a scientist or a philosopher. 😦

Wow : this is the real deal : arms decletating into impact : in order to add speed to the clubbed !
@TPH03164 жыл бұрын
An energy exchange system 👍. Not brute force 🏌🏽♂️

I agree up to a point. Pros start moving their hands slightly upward when the club head starts dropping below parallel. It’s small but it happens.
@danmartingolf4 жыл бұрын
Yes sir! That's a function of truly aligning the swing!
@KevinVanic4 жыл бұрын
So when you are coming into impact, the butt of the club will slow down and its not chasing the head out, it's almost like the butt of the club changes directions?
@jacobr45582 жыл бұрын
I'm so confused by the "decceleration" phase. I can't distinguish between decceleration and stalling? If I am trying to speed my arms up by slowing my body isn't that a stall?
@jacobr45582 жыл бұрын
Rather if I'm trying to slow my arms?
@jacobr45582 жыл бұрын
When you say "end" the swing is that a muscular tension sensation?
@danmartingolf2 жыл бұрын
Jacob, don't try to actively decelerate, it's a natural consequence of the transfer of momentum. Focus more on allowing the radius of the swing to extend freely and everything should start to work out!
@robinharrison13784 жыл бұрын
I don't have a PRO. I have plenty of leverage in all the wrong places. Watching the videos has demonstrated to me what Jack Nicklaus meant when he said you can't release the club too early.
