I bought a serum a couple of months ago that was described as ‘Botox in a bottle’. It was Argireline. I’ve been using it for two months (have a little bit left) and there is literally ZERO change in my skin. I was going to buy more to give it a bit longer but after watching this, I don’t think I’ll waste my money.

@@Jennyonthehill7035It does work. The irony is that people expect dramatic change in 1 bottle. You need to be consistent and go through many bottles. Also, wrinkles are better improved with other ingredients. That ingredient just mildly disables your muscles. Skincare only works if you’re consistent and are willing to invest your money into it.

It's crazy how Dr. Youn the American plastic surgeon blocked Lab Muffin, after her correcting his wrong information on a skincare ingredient... Meanwhile Dr. Karan here is out here inviting her out to educate us all in this interview. I think doctors get a lot of bad reps sometimes as high-ego professionals who never admit they're wrong, but Dr. Karan has shown himself to be such an incredibly humble, knowledgeable and fantastic doctor. Glad I subcribed to him 😊💛💛

In Perth Western Australia I don't think the UV index is ever low (1-2). It's winter here and still 5.6! So as someone with olive skin, I avoid the sun, have clothing for driving, and save sunscreen for "a day outside" and covering my tattoos religiously. The untattooed skin can get more sun and I generally won't burn unless it's high rating, but still, prefer to just cover and protect. Don't need a whopping hole from melanoma

It's quite fun to learn about the different active ingredients and experimentation of adding it and removing it. There's also no real need to spend so much more money on certain brands. If u feel like treating urself and can why not BUT KEEP IT DEMYUR.

May I also add that a lot of people who avoid wearing sunscreen also always claim that it blocks vitamin d synthesis. Most people can synthesize vitamin d with limited sun exposure while wearing sunscreen except for people with thalassemia which is an inherited blood disorder and often leads to vitamin d deficiency. In which case, burning yourself to crisp will not help, you'll only end up with burnt skin and still be vitamin d deficient. Should get a blood test to confirm and get vitamin d supplements.

About the toxicity of absorbed products... Is the retentio in the body also included in these studies? I mean 2% or 6% might not be harmful but if it's a substance that just doesn't / only very slowly get filtered out by the body and u use it on a daily basis that percentage should add up to maybe even a more serious percentage.... right? Edit: The same question could also be asked about fungicide and similar stuff on food btw😅

Yes, as Dr. Wong pointed out you can actually look up some of the assessments toxicologists do, but bioaccumulation is a very very very important element in toxicological testing.
@sofia_c_1
@sofia_c_1 22 күн бұрын
Yeah toxicologists actually found both things exist (against what the industry wanted them to say) and have been studying (and fighting for regulation) for decades. I would trust them to do what their entire job description says they do, but you can look it up a lot of it is on the web, even some channels, you can also look up how passionately they hunt down people who have gone against the ethos of their profession and basically deal with them themselves (so like in academic circles) because the government doesn't take them and their concerns seriously. Lovely people. The opposite of politicians and cops.

Here's a funny thing, he created a clip of this podcast out of a QUESTION. HE POSTED A QUESTION (26:26) AS "DOCTOR EXPLAINS". Look, he is not wrong in _most_ of what he said there. Darker-skinned people can wear less sunscreen and lower SPF, *but* him saying "7 or 8" is... No. As she said, it is much better to rely on vitamin D supplements rather than the unstable weather. You did not include that in the video. You just said "Caucasian needs sunscreen every day but darker-skinned people only need sunscreen at 7-8 UV index"

The subject of microbiome should have been developped. We have discovered lately how essential microbiome is to our gut and its impact on our physical and mental health, it must be the same for our skin, our largest organ, on its health and appearance, nature does not make any mistake, skin microbiome has a purpose. What is the impact of excessive cleansing, excessive layering (organic or chemical) on our skin microbiome (since products use preservatives to kill (good and bad) bacteria? Having said that, I guess that a "good" skin microbiome differs from one individual to the next, like our gut microbiome.
