This is great for all the people out there still wondering! So glad you mentioned POTS. My symptoms have moved through all of these!! Hang in there people! I am so much better than when this started a year or so ago and felt totally normal today and have many normal days again! The thing that held me back the most was the fear that it was going to last forever or still doubting it’s this or just freaking out that I can’t make it home. Engage in things you enjoy as much as you can and surround yourself with good people and don’t beat yourself for not being there for people like normal. ( I know this is so hard ) like she says in other videos, don’t be a perfectionist about recovery! Thank you again Dr. Yo !!!!!

I have just about every symptom mentioned here. Three that I don't believe are mentioned: Sensitivity to smells (even the ones I used to enjoy), internal vibrations ( like a giant cell phone is inside me, ughhh)... this goes away when I sit down or lay down.Also, at times, things I grasp with my hands feel squishy... pillows feel way more squishy than I know that they should feel, even hard surfaces sometimes feel kind of that way.😕

But I was doing more because due to your help I am feeling less sway daily and I am Amazed. So perhaps I moved around more and neck and spine not ready for me to do this. hi dr. Yo, i wanted to ask if you can make a video for gentle stretches and exercise specifically for the neck and head region to do to strengthen our muscles for that region as many probably like me always seek to sit against something like a wall or pillows so we have that support and when that support isn't there its hard to sit still and maintain a posture without starting to sway again and maybe exercises or stretches can help strengthen that region to support the weight of your head and keep you still without needing to seek some support for your head and neck at all times. i have tried some but i feel they are too intense and those movements are not specific for those with pppd who already are afraid of such movements, i would appreciate any input thank you

Hi Mindy, I often find that when people are dealing with a LOT of anxiety, it's counterproductive and not helpful for me to have them do a bunch of exercises. It makes them focus on the symptoms more, not less. Generally, unless someone has something physical going on, I teach them how to react less to these kinds of symptoms to let the brain know it is making a mistake.

This video has been helpful in listing out and explaining many of the symptoms I’ve been having for several years. It’s a pain to have that rocking sensation even while lying down. @TheSteadyCoach Күн бұрын
Hi David, generally I think CCI is being blamed for dizziness and other symptoms when it's something that occurs in many people in the general population who don't have symptoms. While true cervical dizziness IS a thing, it's clearly diagnosable by a skilled clinician and can be effectively treated with PT. When symptoms are weird and follow a neural circuit pattern, the CCI is just an incidental finding IMO.

Do you have opinions on medications that mask symptoms? Benzodiazepines, for example, are commonly prescribed.
@TheSteadyCoach
@TheSteadyCoach Күн бұрын
Tricky. Here's my general opinion, but I'm overdue for an updated video. I think they should be used as "assistive devices," to be used as infrequently as possible, not as a cure, and they are often sold to patients as a cure or the only treatment. Benzos definitely have a place in relieving people of the most distressing symptoms on intolerable days, but I think it's not a good idea to take them chronically unless absolutely unavoidable. Not medical advice, just my opinion based on observations of clients. I think doing the other work (dealing with fear of symptoms and other stress) is critical. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hH3RhIF5pcqqnpY

i have what im not sure is double vision or not. It's basically like, if I look straight ahead I don't see anything as double, but then if i look out the window and there's an object like a water bottle in front of it, I see the water bottle as double. is that normal?

What about difficulty swallowing? Not the lump in the throat/anxiety kind. I just lose the sensation to swallow. This symptom started after developing pppd. Thank you for all that you do Dr. Yo!

@@glitterbrickroad2792 Yep hqppened to me. But for me it happened the day I got Covid vax. Was already off balance few mos b4 some. I had barium swallow tests done and they said u r fine. Nope not fine. My swallow issue on right side of throat. Like I cannot complete a swallow fully. It does get worse and then less. No answers I say its the nerve to my throat somehow causing it. 3 years of it. I report it and no help yet. For me same sensation in throat loss. Not lump or anxiety.

@ ugh I’m so sorry you go through that too! It’s honestly my worst symptom. I didn’t get vaccinated but I did have Covid two weeks before developing pppd. I agree that it’s probably a nerve issue, since the cranial/vagus nerves are connected to balance issues as well as swallowing function. And we all know that a balance disorder causes havoc on our nerves.

Has anyone else experienced a feeling like when you get a nicotine rush (for those of you who have ever used tabaco) while looking in the mirror? I know this will sound extremely weird but I have has that feeling ever since my dizziness started out of the blue 3 months ago.

@AnitaPerrine brain tumour diagnosis for me but I definitely had symptoms a few years before of 3pd as I've had a very stressful life so this was always going to hit at some point. X

My (former) doctor tapered me too fast from Xanax, from 4 mg. daily to 1.5mg daily. I choose to remain at 1.5mg daily for fear that going lower could make PPPD worse.
