This work out can be done with any weight that is appropriate to your fitness level. Recommendation is 3- 5 pounds. This routine will strengthen shoulders and give arms definition. Consider increasing the reps instead of the weight. You are never to old to start this workout as long as you have checked with your doctor first. Science has proven that even people in their 90s benefit from a weight program.

Love this arm and shoulder workout Leslie. I am using 2 lb weights but increased my reps to 12. I appreciate you doing these videos for us. You have been truly a blessing for me.

Cindy thank you so much for saying that. I actually do 20 reps on the ones that are easier for me and stick to ten on ones that still feel harder. I use 6 pound weights but increased them over the years from 2 pound just like you!

I can promise you that if you do it consistently at least every other day you will begin to see results in about 3 months and real definition in 6 mo. It does not happen over nite but it is a huge investment in yourself that will pay off for the rest of your life. Not only in looks but health.

I loved these because I have had shoulder pain every now and then in my right shoulder. I just used the three lb. weights and I will continue doing these. Thank you!

Connie ever since my physical therapist gave me this set of exercises I have never had anymore pain. I have now done them for over 20 years and they have really kept my upper arms toned. Which is an added plus!!

So glad you found me! I have been doing this arm routine for over 20 years and it has kept my arms in pretty good shape. It just takes consistency and time!!

Ha! That's great! Quick and easy. I'll give that a try. I swim 30 minutes 3-4 times a week and I enjoy it. Adding these arm exercises will be a good thing. Thank you.

Glad you like it. Consistency is the key. Also make sure you move up in weight gradually and very slowly now sooner than once every three to four months.

Please check with your physician before you start. Begin with a light weight even depending on your injury beginning with no weight just the arm movements and work your way up. The most important thing is consistency. Slow and steady wins the race. You do not want to make your injury worse. But if you can do this safely it will help to protect your arms and shoulders from injuries in the future.

Yes I so these every other day but I use 5 pound weights and I do 20 reps instead of the ten in the video. The 'Kick Backs" are for the Triceps. The set where you bend from the waist elbows at your sides and push the weights up and back. Thank you so much for following me!!!!

Hi Coach Candace ma'am! Is this also for men? I am man and did this with my grandma but it was brutal! I am 23 and she is 78. I used soda cans as weights but had to stop after my arms completely gave up and I stopped😟 My grandma used 8 lb dumbbells and did arm exercises for a long time!! Her biceps and shoulders and so defined and very strong! I feel really low and defeated.

I do three sets. I know in the video I said to do 10 reps of each position but as you progress you can also increase that number.
