Thanks again, Katie! can't understand anyone putting a dislike on any of your videos. The part where you said about the right side of the brain drawing book was good was great to hear as I have just bought those but by a different author and the techniques really build confidence and make so much sense. Keep up your fab work. Love everything you do and learn so much from you x

Thank you for the Videos you post! In particular your Peony tutorial. Watching your painting process inspired me and gave me confidence to finally get started. The result... Painting makes me so happy that I wonder why I waited so long!!! I even started drawing again! So I just wanted to let you know that you inspired a budding artist in Canada and that I am genuinely grateful to you. (I also really love your work) Thank you again!

Katie what an amazing video! It was so informational and wow I can see the change in you! If I'm not wrong, whenever you talked about abstract work or acrylic painting, you literally showed that you were happy! I loved the part where you said, "if it sells, it sells and if it doesn't, it doesn't..." An art career should come organically and I really appreciate that! P.S: I didn't know you were married for 7 years. Did I miss that in your other videos??? 😱 Hugs to youuu and uhhh you have grown soooo much since the times you were doing ocean pieces.

Meyra I agree.. More flower and beach!!! I've been struggling with a rose for days.. It seemed so easy in my head but it's not leaving the ugly stage lol
@Meyra975127 жыл бұрын
Lol, I know the feeling! I have a canvas standing on my easel right now that I have painted over with titanium white because I grew so sad and frustrated with how badly this abstract rose bouquet was going! I love Katie's style so much but it's hard to do something similar by just looking at a photo :(
@cristycreates28877 жыл бұрын
Meyra lol yep I have a rose on my drafting table and my intention was to use ultra violet with green.. I fussed with it three times... As of today it's white too.. I just finished actually... So funny how artists minds think so much alike!!!

Cristy Smith Ooooh I love violet! I'm really sorry, here's hoping we both get to make something awesome next! I have actually just started doing Katie's seascape tutorial!

Thanks for doing this video. Your advice on pricing artwork and how to approach galleries is very helpful. I've only decided to get back into drawing and painting since last year when I discovered you and some other artists on youtube which has inspired me even more to get back into art. But like you I really need to practice my drawing skills before I can even consider painting. Also what do you think about beginners entering artwork in an art show? Thanks for sharing

In a future Q&A, I would love to hear your thoughts on writing an artist statement, and how to keep it concise and engaging?
@KatieJobling7 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question! I usually write a few paragraphs about who I am, what I make, why I make it and how. Then take a break and come back to it another day. Fresh eyes help 😄👍🏻 then condense it down into a few sentences. This helps me so hopefully it might help you too 🌸✨

I've just got back into art again, my husband has been really supportive and encouraging with it. My only problem is I didn't know which direction to head in. I do graphite and colour pencil as well as I love painting but haven't done it in a while. I draw/paint from portraits to other objects and I'd really like to make a career though how do I select a medium or a topic or could I use them all?

so to take the step to sell, #1 is hit up galleries?? that would give you a lot of good feedback, in responses.. can you send photos? call, e-mail? if it's not possible to attend to that in person for some reason

Hey Katie there's a request .... Can you make tutorial for flying red knot bird with watercolor.I just love your work
@MHarenArt7 жыл бұрын
If you have to compare yourself to someone else, just see what you can learn instead of thinking your work is inferior. And while I'm at it, let me say this. You are absolutely charming! Pretty, well spoken and a great artist! That all helps when pursuing an art career! I paint only for myself and sell a painting now and then without marketing, just to FB friends (about 12 paintings so far). I get a few commissions here and there, but I don't want to make a living selling paintings at this point. But I have so many, I think I'm going to need to sell them, donate for auctions or gift them!

How do you get prints made...my paintings are in pastel and cant go through a roller printer..all printers I’ve contacted in my area have a roller it has to go through...i have acrylics but the are stretched on frame so they can’t go through the roller. I want a good size print , like 28 by 22 but i don’t know what camera is high enough resolution for that...any advice on the topic appreciated -amber

Hi Katie ,I'm a budding artist coming from a background of hair and nail artist and generally always loved creating. Currently studying art and design degree . Always loved the idea of creating videos ,just wondering if you make money from you tube much or is it more the making art that your income comes from? X

Thanks Jennifer! Yes I also use iMovie. It's limited but with a bit of creative thinking you can do more with it 😀 there's plenty of KZbin videos out there showing how to add graphic overlays etc. Just have a play 👍🏻

How do you break the barrier of being creative, to just do what feels good without worrying about other's opinions or whether it's goin to turn out good? I feel like this is what stops me from being creative.

Why don't you finish a painting once you start it? I don't have any unfinished painting lying around. Well, not entirely true, if I'm having a hard time with something, I will let it go for a couple of day, paint something else and finish it, and then go back to it. Just curious.
