Kate Bush and Fleetwood Mac are definitely my favorite artists to receive a Tiktok revival! I still struggle to hear what people hear when they listen to Meghan Trainor. Her music is so watered down and plastic. Tiktok definitely wasn’t all bad though like some people try to portray it. God i wish 😆 but idk, I feel like MTV would have trouble filling Tiktok's role within music because today's youth are more interested in user generated content and content directly from artists, not funneled through a major media conglomerate. They're used to "discovering" content themselves, and even though that's kind of an algorithm -driven illusion at this point, they still like the feeling that they're deciding what they think is cool, not a corporation that put together a setlist for today's program. Plus MTV would have a hard time reaching these audiences who largely wouldn't have access to live TV anymore unless their parents have cable still and they live at home or the provider still allows password sharing.

@lilyprettylamb5 күн бұрын
Undermining legitimate critiques of the TT app by saying people are only doing it to be ‘cool’ is just dismissive. Tbf there’s not much in these comments, but look anywhere online, and you’ll find some. I don’t think people hate the app, not as much as they think they do. But one thing can’t be denied: it’s invasive. Both socially speaking and quite literally (with all the data harvesting allegations and whatnot) The same argument could be made about the internet in general, from which I’ll abstain on including my own opinion.. it is very different when it’s one app vs. an abstract, general digital environment. Personally, and others may disagree, but I don’t like the business model of the ‘everything’ app. Or an ‘everything’ social media. Nothing should be centralized in this way, or given so much power over any resource. (In this case, people’s attention) I honestly think the world is better off when we have multiple avenues to get our entertainment & information. Even if that boils down to multiple social media apps. (Though far from ideal) This also sometimes results in people feeling as if they have the right to act upon what they’ve been given; as if it’s the whole story on any given topic or issue.. and then they go and do dumb things. Such as blindly believing people who post themselves on that platform to make claims, then spreading their word as truth. When that’s all it is: their words. But it continues to happen over and over because everyone wants to be the first to know or the one with “the scoop” or the first on and off of all the trends and that’s just so ..boring.. to me. And, doesn’t this just all sound like ‘human’ issues rather than issues that are unique to TikTok? Entirely why I don’t think some people dislike the app as much as they say (unless they were mistreated and booted off the platform lol) It’s just the worst of it that built TT’s reputation. Despite its pervasion, and my personal gripes with the audience it cultivates, I don’t agree on the ban and I think it’s unethical. And even if I never enjoyed the app myself, I can sympathize. Because I’ve also lost virtual worlds or games I’ve loved that stopped receiving support. I know it won’t be the same when a new app pops up, but I hope everyone finds a way to get their fix for what they’ve lost… It’s hard to mourn these things. They don’t leave a physical body behind. Edit: spacing
