@chamoo2325 жыл бұрын
They had good items but I don't think I ever saw a completely good crate. That's why I loved the Vault store. You could buy just single items. If the items were not so disappointing most of the times I think they wouldn't be in so much trouble now. At first they only had a theme for the month. After a while they started listing the franchises for each boxes. I though that was good but it can be soooo disappointing. I bough the crate the month Fallout 4 was coming out because they said it had a Fallout item. I though it would be something good since the game was just coming out. It was just a blind box tiny vinyl figure that they sell for 5$ at the counter of any game shop. When they made the Alien anniversary crate I bough it because now it would be ALL Alien items. There was a compilation of the comic book that was a good item. Everything else was very disappointing. When they made the Ghostbusters anniversary crate I didn't get fooled. I though it would mostly be junk from the 2016 movie and I was right in the end.

I think the biggest thing for Loot Crate was their knee jerk reaction to their product. They started out doing a few good items and a few crap ones. Then they did a higher quantity, but crappier items, which lost the subscribers that wanted quality. Once they realized it they jerked the other way, trying to win back the people they lost, but by then there were more options for mystery boxes, so fewer items, but higher quality, which caused loss of more subscribers due to the fewer items. It happens way to often with varies businesses, they make a bad change, then try to completely reverse the change, instead of going back to previous, winning, plan. Of course there's also the buying the fucking inflatable fucking crowns. So many that they could send you, personally, a box crammed full of them....

I think the ones with consumable items seem to still be doing pretty well. The makeup ones like Ipsy and Boxycharm are huge in the beauty community, the snack ones seem to be doing okay, and I used to work for a quilting fabric/supply one (Cotton Cuts) that's doing fine. With consumables, you don't get a massive pile of useless junk you don't need/want since the makeup gets worn, the snacks get eaten, the fabric gets sewn into quilts, etc.

and yet some people are still so daft they spend money on digital gambling for things they will never own, incuding the game they roll for said items on.

So happy to hear a shoutout to Dirk Maggs. He's an amazing audio director (and such a nice person). He's made the 3 last Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy audio plays and a few X-Files audio dramas

I think subscription boxes were a fad, and the fad is over now.

I agree. It was " a Thing" thats all it was.

Eh not all sub boxes are bad. I have a bratbox subscription and don't regret it; Enamel pins get expensive. Of course this kind of box is only really worthwhile if you collect such things I suppose.

I just had oral surgery and am on codeine and this video helped me forget about the bloody gauze packed into my jaw for a half hour. ...Maybe that doesn't sound like high praise but it honestly is. Thanks, Stuart.

The lootcrate box used to have a lot of stuff like 10-20 things and in this one they just went to the warehouse and picked up 5 random things from the shelves and threw them in a big black box,

Thanks Ashens, I see you having such a great time with these loot boxes, so I decided to subscribe to one! It’s the ones that are called Trash Crate. It’s really great, you just subscribe to them and they send you a box with rubbish in it every month. The result? My life couldn’t have been better so far!
