Woman in the red car is a danger. When you make and clear and obvious error and don't know that you were the root cause then you will eventually make the same error again. @@jonnyrubs The lorry driver throws a tantrum because the cars in lane 2 have also slowed to around 50 - 55 mph so he would probably have to wait 30 seconds until he got the chance to pull out. The lorry one at #11 needs passing on to the employer. They don't want drivers like that tarnishing their reputation, and the way that HGV fleet insurance and employee incentives work the transport manager won't want the risk to his bonus either. I'd say pass it to the police too: no-one should be driving anything like that, but when it's a lorry of that size they are risking lives. He totally screwed over the Stobart driver behind too, who wouldn't have needed to do an emergency brake if the first lorry hadn't played silly buggers.

I cycle commute on some fairly quiet roads...yet at least a couple of times a week (sometimes a couple of times in a journey) a car will overtake me into the face of the ONLY oncoming vehicle for miles, forcing the oncoming driver to come to a near stand. I’ve been a cyclist in the position of the learner on clip 3 (except I was in a bus/cycle lane). I couldn’t stop in time, as he pulled directly in front of me, and went over the back of the car turning right across the front of me. The driver was adamant it was my fault (as were a couple of drunks who emerged from a betting shop on the corner!), with comments such as “cyclists should give way to cars”” and “You jump red lights anyway” (the collision had nothing to do with traffic lights). He drove off, with the scratch my bike had left in the back of Merc. Thankfully a couple of helpful pedestrians came to my assistance who had witnessed it. I needed a new fork for my bike, but it probably cost less than the bodywork repair his Merc needed.

You're right at 07:17. I once got angry at a guy doing a bad emerge and tooted horn, shouted. He said "Oh, I'm terribly sorry, I didn't realise cars could come that way" and we calmed down immediately. Then I felt like an a**ehole all day (and when I think back on it) because actually if I'm being honest I could see it happening and should've just slowed and held back. He was wrong, but so was I and my reaction made it worse. Now I think ahead and think about how I can help minimise the problems other peoples' mistakes cause. Because one day it'll be my mistake. Your channel has been good for that.

SO MANY people driving like it was a dry summer's day, i.e. no apparent allowance for the conditions, no fear of the danger of aquaplaning, no regard for extra stopping distance. There was some good stuff too, like a line of about 10 of us doing 40mph in lane 1 of the A38 for a good number of miles during a very heavy downpour, but some of the bad stuff I saw was truly frightening. To anyone that is even contemplating ascribing any blame to the car driver in clip #11 because he "should've got into the left lane" - if the cammer was going at 50mph and the limit is 50mph then there should be NOBODY overtaking them because in so doing, they are breaking the law.

Top tip to counter bully HGV drivers. You can either (i) gently slow to 30 mph and stay there until HGV switches lanes, then accelerate up to about 45 but at a rate no faster than they do, then evade them by slowing down as they set up to swipe you or (ii) Slow to a momentary complete stop and then take off again. It takes them ages to work through there 16 gears. Do it gently, don't brake check. Don't tolerate them driving like you are towing them, if anything happens you get crushed.

That one about using all the road space is actually really dangerous as he is going onto a 40 mph dual carriageway where it’s a bus turn off only so could have caused quite big issues for no reason and it’s only 1 lane up ahead anyway

I was traveling through the 50mph average speed camera area on the m4 on Friday had a hgv sat about 6 foot from my rear bumper! As soon as I could move back to lane one to get out the way he did it to the driver ahead! As soon as we got back to National limits he was sat in the outside lane holding everything up? Some drivers shouldn’t have licenses nevertheless hold a heavy goods license!

One care doesn't appear to be a lot larger than the other, do it's the rough equivalent of a 60km/h crash into a brick wall. Definitely not fun, but chances are every one would survive with only fairly minor injuries in modern cars. Edit: Except for the cyclist

Its so funny, for what kind of distance you say "tailgating". In my country you just simply get used to people being too near to you all of the time. 1 car long distance doesnt even count as tailgating here :)) Here people get 0.5meters behind you in 40km/h too.

#Clip 6 (the lorry clipping the car on the roundabout) I had this happen to me in exactly the same way, but my insurance company said that I was at fault as (according to them) no other vehicle should be on a roundabout at the same time as a HGV. I fought their decision and still lost. Insurance rip-off at its best.

#8 - Apparently cars ending up going the wrong way on the autobahn (German version of a motorway) was common enough at some point that they coined a name for it in the 70s: "geisterfahrer". It literally means "ghost driver", although it is often translated to English as "wrong-way driver". It echos the idea of a "ghost ship", but also the idea that you can't see them easily (like a ghost) but also because that's what the driver of the car is likely to end up as. #16 - Was the avoiding action between the cars who didn't emerge worthy of a "nice driving" example?

A question: Should the general driving test be more substantive and longer in duration, and what do you think of simply doing away with the current test as it stands, and replacing it with the I.A.M. test instead. If the driving test standard was (had been) set at a higher bar (in the last and even now), then I suggest we'd have far less problems. Consider the standard of training pilots must have to fly an aircraft, should we not seek to attain the same safety standard. And, god forbid the public ever get flying cars if the bar is not raised.

In my opinion the worst driving in this episode was from the lorry in clip 11. The company that runs the lorry in the clip (www.pentalver.com/road/) has apparently implemented training from IAM across it's fleet. This proves it's little to do with what's tested but everything to do with attitude.
