2 beautiful shaped bows. I do love the look of Grozers Assyrian way more and close to the same price? If I had to pick it would be AF archery. Seems a little stiffer than Alibow. Seems I can leave comments now. Thank you for the great comparison!

Well balanced review - I can see you like both and can't make a judgement - a bit like which is your favourite child! Personally I would lean toward the AF bow. It's quieter, and I like the shape - something a little different about it. The issue with the AF hand grip I would solve simply with a bit of extra wrap - the rest of the bow would justify that.

I"ll go with the sturdy and quieter AF bow and an after market low profile bow string. I don't care for any "look at me" equipment or gear. Thank you for another great review Master Armin.

I like the personal review, no unneeded talk about FPS, materials, statistics, fast flight or other stuff. Great seeing different arrow lengths, handle feel, arrow holding techniques, noise, and your personal opinions, glad to hear about the stickers and coloured strings, string bridges and other feeling related comments. A lot of reviews focus on technical stuff, but a bow is also very personal to an archer, sometimes people forget that.

These look like one is using a Flemish twist string and the others a continuous loop string. The Flemish twist should be and sounds like it is quieter. Would be nice if both bows had the same style of string for more of an apples-to-apple sound / feel comparison. Do the makers give a recommended brace height range? If so you could twist the string brace height towards its higher range and the string will be quieter and less punchy.

Looking at a new bow for elk hunting and actually really like the AF archery assyrian, but have a couple questions. If I ordered the 50lbs model(my draw is 28") would I be able to expect somewhere in the 160-170fp range with 500 grain arrows? Also, the siyas(not sure if thats how they are spelled, i shoot split finger so i am not familiar with easter archery) look really thin and delicate, should I be worried about that or are they plenty durable?
@jasontsang2232
@jasontsang2232 6 ай бұрын
Arrow speed has to be with draw weight, bow type and draw length. It shouldn't matter if you use a horse bow type for hunting. A trad bow is a trade bow. No reason you can't use split finger for no shelf bow. Get right arrow spine.

The Alibow will seriously punish you for any errors on the string (twist, torque etc.), the AF one is much more forgiving with the stiffness .... That being said, you will obviously detect any such form issues on the Alibow easier :-)) but the AF one looks better to me ...

Why do bowyers make their bows that they do research on bigger than the original. Then itll be super wiggly like AF when historically itd be more sturdy

@@ArminHirmer but if u look at the depictions of archers traditionally they pull way back with little bows. I've heard tell which makes sense to me from Mike Loads that a further draw length (even past 60°) was effective because the longer the string acts upon the arrow the more benefits it has on the arrow. Like a longer barrel on a gun. The medieval crossbow is not efficient at all because of the tiny draw length of 5 inches maybe which is why they needed to make them 300+ ibs at least for war plus friction slowed down the string and when they made them out of metal it got worse.
@ArminHirmer
@ArminHirmer 4 жыл бұрын
@@Daylon91 one side is, that of course you bring more energy in the arrow, the longer the arrow is in contact with the string. But when you are beyond roughly 60 degrees, a lot of stored energy goes back in the bow not in the string. As example the Qing dragon 2 from Mariner has at 36" a string angle of exactly 60 degrees. One can wonder now whet the Manchu bows are so efficient
@Daylon91
@Daylon91 4 жыл бұрын
@@ArminHirmer Ah ok thanks for the response. I'm thinking if it goes up in weight the further you draw it back it's worth drawing it back getting that extra energy even though some of it distributed throughout and not into the string directly

It will always be bow dependant. But in theory there is an optimum Point . Is it at that 60 degree or is it. 65 .or 50. ????? It's splitting hairs of course . It's throwing sticks with another stick and a string. But I'm hoping for some fun hi speed n some fun science .
