Astro HDMI Adapter Black Screen Fix

Just passing some helpful information about the black screen issue I encountered while connecting the Astro HDMI adapter. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching!

Two years with no issues. This happened to me tonight. Stupid but atleast my TV has apps to stream instead of turning back on that feature. Ur video helped alot. Was hoping nothing was wrong with my ps5. But this is why the internet exists lol

So for a long time after getting this it worked without having to make any changes like this, randomly yesterday it stopped working I tried this it worked and now it’s not working I looked around for a while and this is actually a very common issue with these, I just ordered for a replacement. If you’re having this issue you might want to buy a different hdmi extractor just make sure it runs 4K and 60fps minimum if your looking to maximize the use of the ps5 your gonna have to some extra searching.

Aww dang that sucks. I'm surprised that its doing that. My monitor doesn't have HDR on it, so I was unaware that it did that. I'm glad that it fixed your black screen though.

I think these devices give out after a while , or depending how they’re set up , maintain and moved around , mine lasted me about 2 years and gave out , my screen would just flicker on and off every time I loaded into a match , or loaded a new game up , this option didn’t work for me so I’m going to try another extractor out. I’ve been reading a couple subreddits about these astro extractors going bad after a while

I bought the adapter everything worked fine for about 6 months and just today my PlayStation started acting up where it would turn on and then the screen would go on and off on and off couldn't figure it out I unplugged the adapter and everything is perfect now why did it go bad after such a while is my question

my astro hmdi adaptor broke start with screen blacking out tryed turning off HDCP to off and was still getting screen black outs plugged the hdmi cable from the tv to the console and no more drop outs now using the pulse headset until my replacement hdmi adaptor comes

Your description of the need for that box is incorrect. You only need it to balance chat audio and game audio with the headset

That was my experience when using the Astro A40 Headset without the converter on the PS5. I guess it may vary depending on the game you play on the PS5 as well. I am still not able to balance the chat audio that well with the adapter for some reason haha.

Even with HDCP disabled I’m still getting no signal/black screen, was working fine for 2 days then randomly had this issue

I saw somewhere it could be a resolution issue too. Make sure you have your ps5 set to the correct resolution to match your monitor or tv. With hdcp disabled if you try to go on youtube, netflix, or any kind of protected media app it will cause your screen to go black. This may include if you try to watch a blu ray movie or listen to music too (I'm not too sure about the music case though). Otherwise it could just be a faulty hdmi cable or HDMI Adapter.

It's dumb that the ps5 just doesn't have a optical cable port in the first place. I'm sorry that my video didnt completely fix the issue. It could possibly be a faulty adapter too. Usually astro customer service is pretty responsive when you have issues with their products.
