This guy knows what is he talking about. The way I fixed my with new ps4 update was switching where I had it plugged into the PlayStation simply change swap from controller charger and usb connect, made it realize it was being plugged into a ps4, before I tried everything but this simple 1second swal fixed it

When I plug my amp into a usb only, the light comes on. However, I noticed that when you do usb only, the ps5 reads that headphones are plugged in. Hi I'm having a problem with these, im on ps5. When I use the mix amp my mic starts buzzing, even when I just hold it. I went on the astro command center and lowered the side tone all the way but it still making the buzzing noise, and it's also cutting me off as well. Hey man, love the content. Recently got an ASTRO A40 for my PS5, even bought the adapter off Amazon. However when I plug in everything exactly like the video tells me to (and many other videos), I just hear absolutely no audio.. I have all the settings as the same, I even switched around some outputs and wires and I still get no audio. Also, when I go to my sound settings on my PS5, HDMI device type is greyed out, also when I adjust microphone level , it doesn't detect any noise. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do the USB only setup first. Then try to add the optical connection If you can't do usb only then try a different USB cable or update the mixamp Make sure the mixamp isn't white. If it is it won't work

My situation is weird. It just started happening a few weeks ago and I've had the ps5 for over a year. My headset keeps getting disconnected and reconnecting over and over again literally nonstop. And yet, you can still hear the game audio the whole time it's doing this. If what you're saying is right, it's not the usb cable because unplugging my headphones the lights stay red. I thought maybe my mic attachments short was causing this so I got a new one. Didn't fix it. I'm using the fidelio x2's and mixamp with a lg C2. Checked my firmware nothing new. So I ordered the newest amp they got in the tr that's coming tomorrow, but I'm worried it might not be a fix. Any recommendations? Have you heard of peoples headsets repeatedly disconnecting nonstop?

Best to figure out if it works when plugged into an android cell phone If it works there, then it's a settings issue If it doesn't work then it's a mic, or cable issue.

So I am using my A40s on PS5 with the adapter. I use the adapter to work my mix amp and it’s been fine the last few years. Today I put my headset on and I don’t remember changing anything different but I cannot hear any game audio only voice chat? In the PS5 settings I have the audio selected to chat audio because this is how you use the mixamp. I could easily use all audio and hear the game sound but then I cannot use the mixamp. Update, my optical cord doesn’t have a red light. Does it need to be red? I do not remember if it was red before.

Must have the red light. Check that the adapter has a red light coming from the port you plug the optical cable in Also check that adapter is powered up. Maybe your cat knocked the cord out of the wall and it's just not on anymore

If you pull the optical cable out of the mixamp do you see a red light shining from the optical cable? If not, something is wrong with the connection If yes, something is wrong with your settings

Probbaly a setting in the tv is wrong. It's not outputting the right format, or not actually putting any sound into the cable at all

The sound itself sounds fine. However it's only stereo sound or 3d sound. I don't like either. Not because of the quality. The spacial sound is bad. It feels too closed in For that reason I am doing the optical connection, but I have it coming from my tv. I made a video showing all the different connection options.

Yes. You can no longer use the mixer dial to adjust the balance You can do that in the sony dashboard. It's just not as easy

I have the exact same mix amp as you. When i connect it all exactly like you do, i get the input device to say “usb microphone(astro mixampPro)” but the output device doesnt pop up. The only option it gives me is tv. Also when i set the hdmi extracter to “pass” i get no signal. Any idea this is driving me crazy

My a40 works fine besides my mix amp not responding to (game/voice) adjustments… if I turn game volume 100% on to the left it all the way down.. the game volume gets mute. When it should be muting the voice chat of others???

Yes. You have setup your a40 mixamp in usb only mode. Connect the optical cable from your tv to the mixamp, and switch the settings on the ps5 to chat audio only. Then your voice mixer will work properly

Try unplugging the optical cable, does the buzzing go away? If yes, the problem is tv setting or cable is broke If no the headphone cable or mixamp needs to be checked over

Try the headphones in a sell phone. Make a call, see if the mic works. If it does then start looking at the USB cable for the mixamp

That's weird. Make sure your base station is updated if possible. The ps5 shoudk detect it properly and just work.

I bought the Astro A40 "Tournament Ready" headset with the black Mixamp Pro for Xbox. Recently, I bought a PS5. I bought the HDMI/optical mini-box to make it all work. I've updated my Mixamp Pro to the latest firmware. I have everything hooked up correctly. However, any time I switch the Mixamp Pro to "Xbox" on the back, it disconnects the headset and switches the input device in PS5 settings to "Microphone on controller." When I switch the Mixamp Pro to "PC," it switches the input device in PS5 settings to USB Headset "Astro MixAmp Pro." It seems backwards. Any tips? Thanks! Wes

The Xbox uses a different communication language for usb headsets. That's why it disconnects from the ps5, it doesn't know what to do with it When you have it in pc mode does it work? To be clear, it should not work with ps4 or ps5. The Xbox version only works with Xbox or pc The ps4 version works with Ps5 and pc, but not Xbox. You will likely need to sell that Xbox mixamp and buy a ps4 one

The sound should work for audio, but the mic won't work. It's probbaly trying to use the mic from your controller. Which will make echoes

yuur optical cable is not setup properly. Check that you have a RED light coming out of it when you unplug it from the Mixamp. You probably dont. If you do, then the settings on your optical extractor, tv, or PS5 are wrong

If you're using an audio extractor it probbaly isn't rated for 4k. You need a different adapter, or you need to hook the optical cable to your tv and follow my instructions for that one

I ask because everything works except for the chat/game audio knob. When I turn the knob towards chat it turns down all audio. When I turn it to game it increases all audio to a certain point. When I leave the knob in the middle it has the best sound chat mix. But it’s too loud to hear my teammates. Really frustrating as they worked perfect on the ps4. I have the adapter but don’t use it. My optical cord is connected to tv via all in one box.

That means you're using usb only connection. Change the settings in the ps4 menu to say output chat audio only. Then you should be good

What sucks is that i need an adapter and I lose my 120hz I just bought the astros with mixamp and a 165hz monitor ready to play at my full potential on ps5 and now I can't even have my 120hz unless I don't put optical cabel

That would be interesting to see since the astro adapter only supports 4k @ 60 Hz Perhaps your running 1080 @ 120hz?

@@daraghodonoghue_ Very good call out. I always assume everyone wants 4K since thats the big hype. Really, My eyes are so bad I cant see the difference. Especially on a small monitor. 4K or 8K really only shine when you have a 50" or bigger display and you can sit close enough to see the pixel density getting gaps between them. I would game at 1080 @ 120 hz if I was really serious.

Are you using it on a pc? If so then yes you should. Just make sure you follow the settings for making the tv pass the signal straight though the optical cable

The rest of the audio comes through the optical cable. That's how you get surround sound If you don't need surround sound then do the USB only connection that I show in another video on this channel

Is the power on the monitor turning on and off, or is the display turning on and off? My guess is its the display, and that sounds like its caused by the monitor trying to show a not supported resolution. If you have a TV you can hook it to instead. Try that, see if you get the same result. If you do, then your adapter may be faulty. If it works fine, then the monitor isnt happy about the signal. Not sure what you would do about it at that point

Works fine on my new samsung tv, Unfortunately my brand new Lg monitor starts to act up as soon as the extractor is connected. Without the extractor the monitor works fine but then again I cannot obtain full surround sound fron the astros

When you plug it into your tv it probbaly has a display in the corner that says the resolution it's displaying Compare that to your monitor Try setting the resolution manually while hooked to your tv to 4k @60 Hz then plug it into your monitor. If that doesn't work do 4k 30 Or 1080 60

Try calling customer service to help rouble shoot it. There are ways to figure out exactly the problem first

Check the USB cable. Something isn't right with how the unit is setup, or the USB itself.

Your optical cable is broken Or whatever it's hooked up to is not outputting the optical audio. If it's connected to a tv then make sure you adjusted the settings on the tv If it's connected to an extractor then the extractor is not working. Or its not turned on. Or something is wrong with it

When you have it on all audio try unplugging the optical cable from the mixamp I bet you still have all the sound. That's because you're in usb only mode. Which has limitations Make sure your astro extractor is connected right HDMI from ps5 goes to the hdmi IN on the astro adapter HDMI out from adapter goes to IN on your tv Power adapter on extractor plugged in Optical cable from extractor goes to mixamp Then do the settings in the ps5 system as explained.

@@GearsAndTech I did everything you said and it’s still not working. On chat Audio I hear the game but as soon as I adjust the game and voice volume knob on the mixamp it goes away. Sorry for all the question I really appreciate the help!

You're currently setup as usb only connection Make sure you switch the headphone audio to chat only and connect your optical cable correctly

@@GearsAndTech Yes this helped thanks. I use a astroA40 with a astro hdmi adapter, when i put my HDMI in port 1 ( on my screen) i cant use the 2160p.. But when i connect my HDMI directly from my PS5 to Port2 ( on my screen) i can use the 2160p but than i don t have dolby surround on my headset due to the fact i cannot use the transmitter.. i hope u understand my question because i don t know how to fix this... thanks in advance..

The optical extractor only outputs 4k @ 60hz. So even if the game supports 120 Hz it will not be output to your monitor while you're using the optical extractor

They do have a lot of write up's, and some videos. They just aren't as good at keyword spamming so they aren't at the top of google or KZbin search results. And, they aren't as good as my videos, even if I do say so myself

Defo selling this peace of crap headset 300 quid a few years back n its just 🗑️ never works right n u gotta do a college course to workout the issue fook astro anybsuggestions on a good headset for ps5

If astro isn't your thing then steelseries is the next best You'll be stuck using 3d audio with no surround sound. But the headset is easy to use
