Thank you very much Gill for the very detailed explanation and help. I didn't even consider the bottom chipset Pcie lane, for now I think I will go with the easiest option, basicly using a single M.2 nvme Pcie 4.0 on the 2nd Pcie Slot. Again, thank you very much. Now I realized why on Z590, B560 and H570 the M2_1 is disabled for 10th Gen CPU's. It's due to 10th Gen not having enough PCI-e lanes to support M2_1 and PCI-e_1.

Hi JayzBeerz, Also an issue from Shared vs Dedicated PCIe Resources. Like You said, not enough PCIe Resources to go around! Crazy, right. One of the reasons for a Higher End Chipset. One with more PCIe Resources. And preferably Dedicated PCIe Resources! Changing one thing, changes everything! Understanding PCIe Resource allocations is an education process in and of its self. Now Your eyes are opened! Excellent!

Hello, I seen your videos, and you been very helpful to people. I have the Asus Rog corsshair vIII X570S amd. What I’m going to use it for is anything I basically can sit down and do on it, basic user that wants the max speeds as possible, I do heavy game time to time. As far as m.2, nvme. Little confused, what’s the fastest and best I can get that I don’t have to compromise putting a decent video card in? I read a lot of stuff, and some places keep talking about it uses this port etc, So I want to make sure I kind of buy the right one to install on my motherboard, any suggestions?

Hi@@NeoDon1, Outstanding! I'm honored! If You can Post Your Question here on BuildOrBuy I can look at that now! If You're planning on using a Bios Bifurcating Quad card on the X570 Chipset, that depends upon PCIe Resource availability. In other words, no seperate GPU since the Quad card will require a X16 Slot, electrically not just mechanically. To reiterate, a Bios Bifurcated Quad card Requires All 16 CPU PCIe Lanes! The other Option is a Self Bifurcated Quad card. Some of those only require a X8 Slot. Depends, such as Glotrends Sky or Highpoint. Hope that helps!

Hi Donald Smith, Welcome! Glad You found Us! An honor and a privilege to help! Good You're doing Your Research before spending any money! We can definitely help with Rendering Specs. We suggest using the Adobe After Effects Mult-Frame Rendering CPU Optimization Formula as a starting point. 1. CPU Cores x 4 = RAM - 16 Core CPU = 64GBs RAM 2. CPU Core count = VRAM - 16 Core CPU = 16GBs VRAM Radeon 9650 GPU? How much Memory is on that Video card? Not enough! Depending upon Your Rendering engine, the GPU can do up to 80% of the Rendering. And the only reason for an NVIDIA GPU would be if You need CUDA Cores. Some VFX require CUDA Cores. We use mostly Radeon Pro GPUs for Rendering. Very efficient for Rendering! Enterprise Drivers although You want Gaming Drivers. Understandable. Hope that helps!

Hi Gill, boy I have tried everything, I think. I have this same board. Ryzen 5900X , 3080ti in first slot at 16x, (second Slot is Empty) Motherboard M.2 slot 1 and bottom #2 both have M.2 drives. I have Asus Hyper M.2 X16 Gen4 on the bottom (3rd PCIe Slot) with two M.2 drives in the card in slot one and two. Only one of the drives appears in the bios and in windows 10. I tried to move the M.2 in the card to the 3rd slot (staggered) as well to no avail. Sure could use your help on this one. Is this Asus card "self-bifurcated"? Thanks for all you do Gill, be well.
@BuildOrBuy
@BuildOrBuy Жыл бұрын
Hi NEO DON, Welcome! First, the Regular Quad cards from the likes of ASUS, ASRock, Gigabyte and MSI are NOT Self Bifurcated. Those all require Full Bios Bifurcation. Second, on a Consumer Desktop Motherboard those Quad cards Require 1st Slot, Fully Bios Bifurcated from X16 to X4X4X4X4. In Your Configuration You want to see 2 Drives. Prioritization for CPU Lanes goes frome 1st Slot to 2nd Slot. Chipset Lanes ae usually on 3rd Slot. On this Motherboard, to reiterate, that 3rd Slot is X16 mechanically but X4 electrically. Therefore, No CPU Bios Bifurcation and only 1 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Drive will be seen. As You have found. Bottom line, not enough PCIe Resources to go around. Bummer, right. For a X4 Self Bifurcated card accommodating 2 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Drives You'll need a card from Amfeltec Squid in Canada. Ask for a Quote. Due to the Bifurcation Chipset, that card will cost almost as much as Your Motherboard. Amfeltec carrier boards, see Two Drive board. www.amfeltec.com/pci-express-carrier-boards-for-m-2-ssd-modules/ Hope that helps!

@BuildOrBuy thanks for your quick reply! Its a want cause I like the asthetics of the board, like that it has on-board Bluetooth and probably runs smoother vs. my x370 aorus k7 (which was built for first gen ryzen). Hi Gill. I was wondering if you could do a video with the rampage vi extreme omega and a 10980xe. What I'm trying to accomplish is a 16tb bootable raid 0 via 4x 4tb Sabrent rocket installed in a hyper m.2 v2 with 2x rtx titan in sli with both running @ 16x. Since the cpu is 48 lanes and the first pcie slot is bifurcation supported could I make this work. I keep seeing vroc is compatible with only intel drives but RSTe will work for any non intel drives and is more for consumer applications. Is a 16tb bootable raid possible with configuration or at all with RSTe?

That Asus Hyper card works on an 8X PCIE socket with (bifurcation) raid set at 4x 4x. But the mobo will see two drives if you use card M.2 sockets one and three. A drive in M.2 socket two won't be seen in a 4x 4x PCIe 8X socket. The card is a bargain at $76.

@@BuildOrBuy NO. IDK. I've never tried the SM card. I don't think it's the PCIe pins that change on the Asus card. It's the M.2 sockets that skip from the third socket to the second X4 set of pins. IDK I don't have an SM to test it. I thought you used an SM dual card on 2 separate drives on a TRX40 8X socket when you were testing heat sinks. On an X399 the second PCIe socket is 8X GEN3 and with a Hyper card M.2 sockets 1 & 3 work. That's just ASUS AIC. IDK about any other cards. Hi@@maxhughes5687, OK! We've heard from another Subscriber about those details changing on the Bifurcation Chart from ASUS for some Motherboards. Curious. Goes to show, We can take nothing for granted. Test and Verify! Will have to point that out next time! As in here's what We know. Here's Documentation. However, those Details could change, Be aware of the issue involved and Test and Verify! The ASUS Bifurcation chart indicates one or three M.2 NVMe PCIe Drives but not the placement of two which should be as You have stated. But that would exclude using a SuperMicro Dual M.2 NVMe Adapter. Interesting, confusing and perplexing. That's why I did show the Chart but have the link in the Description.
