The Pad Thai is probably the most common Thai dish outside of Thailand, and for good reason. It's delicious!
Ingredients for this recipe are below.
If you make this one, I want to see it! So feel free to share a picture or video and tag me:

Hi Andy. Cooked your recipe yesterday for a party of six and it was great! Freshest Pad Thai I ever had, better than downtown Thai place’s. Love all your little tips and pointers, really helpful for a home chef. Love your short videos across socials. Greetings from Belgium!

Some Thai cooks say that oyster sauce is generally not used in Pad Thai. I've used it for extra flavor. If you can get your hands on sweet radish, it gives an extra umami flavor. Also, you don't need to boil the dried noodles, just soak it in warm water for 15-20 minutes until it's pliable.

That looks awesome. That looked like a regular frying pan that you used which I know that you said that you forgot to bring your wok with you. There is a little Thai restaurant near where I live, central Vermont USA, and the woman who does all of the cooking makes all of the sauces that she uses from scratch, minus soy sauce and fish sauce, and she also makes the different noodles that she uses in her dishes. Love Thai food.

Wow! That’s an absolute delish🤤 Here’s some thing I have to say as your channel new fan! The different of PadThai and other kinds of random MheePad is the first ingredient to fragrant the oil is finely chopped shallot😋 yes padthai is the only kind we fragrant it with shallot and only shallot. You are right about high heat❤️ And end with sun dried shrimp right before spring onion. The different of PadThai and KaoPad (fried rice) is timing of the eggs. Egg after noodle and turn down the heat to medium high is essential. But egg before rice. We want the noodle to smell a bit burnt but the egg is still fresh and fluffy cooked. And we also add fried tofu to enhance the note of those eggs. And we make padthai more spicy with Sriracha and dried chili. The rest are perfect!😌🙏🏻
@scotlandgee
@scotlandgee 2 жыл бұрын
Made this last night, was delish but I’m interested in what noodles you used, the texture on mine weren’t great and they broke up, so think I would soak them for a shorter time knowing they will cook more in the wok. I also used 10-15% less brown sugar and my wife thought it was more citrusy than what she is used to, I loved the citrus/tamarind twang. Overall though, super tasty!

You don’t need to soak the noodles overnight. Just an hour in warm water. Def needs palm sugar and not brown sugar, the molasses in brown sugar has a different flavor. Never seen oyster sauce in pad thai sauce before. Usually pad thai uses dried chilis, served on the side as a garnish so you can make it however spicy you want it.

I’m a big fan of a huge pot of boiled cabbage, potatoes, and kielbasa (then eat it for the next 4 days, using diff sauce additions or making some savory pancakes). Tried a couple things to tweek it but never beats just the basic recipe. Would love to see how you would elevate this. The sausage usually ends up a little bland after flavoring the cabbage and potatoes. Similarly I recent made some corned beef with honey mustard, sour red cabbage, and potatoes. That may be more visually appealing

Looks good except for the egg part, I think they are not supposed to be overcooked and dry. If you would add in your eggs after the noodles (put to one half of the pan, eggs other half), cook them like scrambled egg (still a bit runny) and mix in with the rest your noodles will be way juicier.

Great job! Loved your shorts on KZbin and subscribed. I love to cook. Especially Pad Thai. This Looks similar to my version of Pad Thai . I noticed you referred to the chicken as “ adding protein.” After you already added eggs ( which is protein and so is the noodles and veggies) I cook carnivore , vegan, vegetarian and gluten free for crowds of 50 at a time. I hear restaurants always saying when you order a rich in ingredients salad “ Do want protein on that?” I feel Condescending when I have to reply” There is already protein in it.” Plant protein as much as the “Meat” you’ll be adding. It’s all protein.” Do you know why we can’t just say “ want to add meat?’ Lol
