Original owner of a 2009 Honda CRV. The maintenance is 100% up to date. Dealer serviced only. 160k miles knock on wood I have not had any major problems. Did change out all of the struts. I loved the car. Gave it to my brother this year (2021). Go Honda.

Good informative video, however, may I offer one small sugggestion ,,,,, ditch the background music. Being a video production specialist while on active duty for the Air Force, we learned real fast, that most of the audience was tuning into the music instead of the material at hand. The others said the music was to distracting . As soon as I tuned this in , the first thing that hit me was the music ,, the rest of the info got lost and or garbled with the information being presented.

I am seriously thinking of getting this for my son. Videos like this allow me to do make an educated decision on whether or not to buy the one we're looking at getting. At the ned of the day I guess it comes down to my own history with Honda. 3 great motorcycles I owned and 3 great cars make my decision making a whole lot easier. I'm all in for car #4!

I bought my '08 EX-L with 132k miles. I had issues with the VTEC control module and solenoid and it has run great ever since. I'm at 193k miles now! I had to replace the a/c compressor and the alternator, but I think those parts were past their useful life cycle. Also, the locks always break on these cars (there's an auto-lock feature that causes a lot of wear and tear, but you can easily turn the feature off as listed in the owners manual) and the cloth seats are more durable than the leather ones.

I just bought me a 3rd Gen because my 1st gens transmission went out. I love the car, don't get me wrong, but it has SO much less features than my 99. No full spare, no table, horrid back seat capabilities and the seats don't turn into a bed.. reliability is phenomenal and tbh, the thing is a freaking go kart. Probably use the 3rd to tow a break down camper conversion on the first gen.

You covered all of the issues i have encountered since buying brand new crv in 2010. At 15% oil life i have replaced my oil at the dealership since bought new. Now its burning oil. Even after taking excellent care of it, known issues are something that a car owner cannot avoid by regular maintenance. My crv is 181000 now on the mileage
@AutoMotivate

I am sure it will survive a long life as long you keep an eye on the oil level. Perhaps the oil rings are clogged up and not moving as they should. There is a DIY method to clean up the gunk on the oil rings by pouring TRans fluid in each spark plug and let it seal all the way through he piston rings. Do an oil change, then drive the car. Should clean up the rings and potentially fix most of the oil burning.

Have a 2010 AWD EX. It's okay. Only major thing that went was the AC and these cars are known for that. Power steering whines but it's nothing more than an annoyance. Had to replace rear struts. Other than that, just your basic maintenance- brakes, tires, fluids, etc. 212,000kms. I plan to drive this car another 10+ years and 500,000kms.

I watched a video about why my check fuel cap keeps coming on when I start my 2011 CRV and it says it may be the selenoid? Once i push the button on the cluster panel to reset it it doesn’t come back on. Its inly got 77,000 miles cuz my mom didn’t drive it a lot when she got it in 2014 or 15. So I bought a new gas cap awhile ago like a few months back and it been going on since i got it. I've had the starter issues, Lots of AC issues. 3 times i've had to replace the Relay for the compressor. , both stabilizer bars, and all shocks/struts due to them leaking hydraulic fluid. Thankfully no trans, rear end, or engine issues. Also, pretty much all the leather on the inside is trash. all seats and arm rests started wearing evenly at the same time even though we had the car for 5 years before we got kids and started using the back seat.

I recently bought an '09 CR-V with 90k on it. Front wheel drive. Replaced the rear struts, as the ride was stiff and clunky. The clunk-clunk is slightly improved, but I still feel and hear every uneven bit of road. The suspension is very stiff. I'd love to compare the car with another CR-V to see if stiffness is general in the model, but haven't found a way to do so. I like the car, but it would be nice if it handled a washboard stretch of highway with greater aplomb.
