Hi Mark, great route there, woodland and then the wonderful views, mighty fine sweet chestnut tree you found and who can resist a swing, the water you drank did look clear as a bell, and bonus you filled your drink bottle, meeting people out on the trail is always pleasant and adds to your well being, great day out cheers nigel

Some very good wildlife there Mark. The sweet chestnut showed beautifully the twisting trunk so typical of veterans of this species. The hornet too. I bet I can count on only one hand the number of hornets I've seen in my life. They don't occur near me. Great that the swing still swung too. It's good when details like that endure. Excellent. Best wishes, Chris

Yeah, a few moments Chris. Ha, sussed out what the tree was after - I was never great at ID. Re-the hornet that was sweet. Yeah, don't see them often. The best sighting I've had is with Paul years ago having a brew watching a nest. As for the swing I was stoked to see it almost 10 years later. Thanks, Chris-take care up there. Mark

Absolutely fabulous Mark! As soon as I saw the notification for this video I had to watch it straight away 😁 I'm really glad you enjoyed walking this section of Offa's Dyke Path, especially when you were able to enjoy that fab view over Redbrook at the end. It's awesome, isn't it? Nice to see that derelict cottage again at the Hudnalls along with the swing - great photo of Paul on that 🙂 Well that was another good un Mark. Take care as always down there, all the best 👍

Hi Patrick, hey glad you liked this one. I thought of you as I hiked this one. Thanks for the recommendation. I certainly loved the old cottage - I was stoked to see it and the swing still there. Re-the view I wasn't disappointed seeing Redbrook just nestled down below next to the river. Lovely. Thanks, Patrick. See you out there. Mark

What a glorious walk, Mark! Such a beautiful day for it. Love the photo of Paul on the swing and that it's still there - a precious memory. The golden autumn leaves lined your pathway through the woodland in a magical way. And, what a fantastic old tree, It looked like it's survived some storms! You definitely had some cracking views to enjoy! Really enjoyed that! Have a great weekend, all the best, Jenny 😊

Hello Mark. Really enjoyed that mate. It's such a beautiful area. Tintern Abbey is so special. Amazing views from the Devil's Pulpit. I love how you stop and chat to people on the way. That tree mushroom was huge. 2015 last time you and Paul there by that beautiful old cottage. Loved the swing. You have great memories and keep making new ones. You filmed and shared it all so well. 11 miles, big shift💪💪👌 Well done Mark, great video. All the best on your next one👍

Hi Mark, beautiful autumn colours even though not fully out yet, lovely around here and the abbey looked stunning. The views when you came out of the woodland were really pretty and so nice that you net the couple from South Africa. Loved the footage of Prestatyn, Offa's Dyje is so interesting. You captured that hornet well ! 😃 Wow its unbelievable that the cottage you and Paul stayed in about 10 years ago is still abandoned, ah good to see Paul on the swing. This all looked so beautiful and you got some water as well 🙂Great hike, have a good weekend ~ Anna 👍

Hey, there Anna, yeah a good time out views, woodland, people and all - they were a great couple. I've yet to walk to Prestatyn but I will on the Offa's Dyke - maybe see another Hornet. That was a treat. As for the cottage, it was a nice surprise, especially the swing. Ha, the water? Has to be done. Many thanks Ann - all the best. Mark

What a gorgeous day Mark. November has been a great month on the whole. Autumn & Spring, best 2 seasons, eh? I'm curious about Offa's Dyke, will definitely be taking a look down there at some point, maybe in the Spring. Good to see your distances increasing, take care of the ankle arthiritis. Loving the macro photography, and always love a good tree! All the best - Sue

Hi there Sue, yeah a good one for sure. re-the seasons you picked out two that can't be missed. As for the Offa's Dyke I was due to do it before my injury along with other trails - Next year has been my target to begin again. So, yeah it feels good to be putting in more miles at last. Macro and mighty trees are all part of a walk as is memory for me often. All the best. Mark

Such a beautiful autumn hike, the colors are still here. It's a shame it lasts so short. The nature is amazing, so lush and green. It’s also interesting to see the abandoned cottage. Great portrait of the pheasant. It seems you spent a great time.

It's a wonderful hike Mark! I love the ferns, mosses and the fungus was fantastic! I don't eat fungus but it sure is pretty. I also love all of the historical aspects. The ancient tree is outstanding! It's a living sculpture. Thank you for saring the tranquility my friend!
@WyeExplorer3 күн бұрын
Hi Cynthia, great to hear from you. It is a green and lush valley for sure. Re-the fungus I've not eaten that one. Re-the tree it has been standing there for a long time. I love the fact that Paul had climbed it. Well, thanks my friend. Take care over there. Mark

Great stuff Mark. I`ve walked that walk many, many times. That area is my spiritual homeland. I know what you mean about the labyrinth around the Hudnalls. I get disorientated every time I go up there and there are a good few paths in and out of it. I think the cottage is part of the Bigsweir estate but not 100% sure. Its my ideal homestead. Good to see you well and out in nature mate. Stay safe.
@WyeExplorer3 күн бұрын
Thanks, Mark - glad you liked this one. Hey, yeah it's your backyard and a might fine one too. Without doubt, the Hudnalls is a popular enclave - they've built themselves a proper maze up there. You might be right about the cottage - I think lack of access sealed its fate. All the best for the weekend. Mark

Glorious indeed .. the views from the Devil's Pulpit !! ..superb !! You always meet such interesting folk mate !! ..I wouldn't even know how to spell Genevieve.. perhaps I just did ?? lol I have eaten that 'beefsteak' fungus and it tastes really good. Wonderful memories of the cottage with Paul !! ..what a shame that beautiful building is not lived in !!! That's an awesome old pollarded sweet chestnut.. loads of those where I was raised.. my Mum and I used to go collecting them about this time of year.. and my Dad would roast them for us on the grate ! .. Happy days bro !!

Hi Mark, Autumn really is a beautiful time of the year. I love mushroom hunting so it’s my fav season. Great fungus find that looked very impressive. Also nice to see the remains of the abandoned cottage as well. Bit of a shame it has been left and the plants are taking over again. Lovely seeing all the leaves on the ground and a cool tree. Nice capture of the pheasant 😊 looked a great hike

Beautiful video and the scenery looked spectacular, I haven't been to the devil's pulpit since 2000 and have wanted to return for ages - it's such a shame the path up from behind Tintern is overgrown and closed (or at least it was the last couple of times I've visited). Thanks for taking us with you.

Why did they change it from AONB to national landscape. Area of outstanding natural beauty was poetic and evocative, national landscape just sounds a bit soulless, do these committee's actuality walk these areas I wonder.
@WyeExplorer3 сағат бұрын
Hi there Jamie, not sure mate. A friend here suggested that they're competing with national parks. That would make sense. But yeah, a bit soulless and I agree with your analogy. Take care out there. Mark
