I feel like it’s called Age of Ultron because Ultron begins an age not with him, but caused by him (or really Stark). He and what he did is a symbol of the Avengers’ power, and how they can control or destroy the world if they wanted to anytime, anywhere. It started an age where the Avengers were feared and seen sort of as deities:gods, and the government wanted control to sort of ground them.

Dude it makes me sad that the movie isnt as well developed as your analysis makes it sound. If the care was put to make these important themes and details shine as brightly as you talk about them, Marvel would be pumping out *masterpieces*

If other people get it, then it's not much fault of the film as it is the fault of the mass audience perception

Art Of Life ,while that's certainly true, you can also do the inverse and heavily disparage something for the exact same reasons with the exact same sources (like you seem to be doing). As for masterpieces, arguably Marvel have created a couple, and none of their movies other than Darkworld are average or worse. They're all good movies.

I didn't realize it at first, but this was one of the deepest movies in the MCU... Although it's still an action spectacle, it's much more of a thinking movie than the first Avengers, which I think was a bit too harsh of a contrast for a lot of people. Another interesting theme I picked up while rewatching: "What you fear, you create"

Nice analysis, but do disagree heavily with your take on Ultron himself. The great thing about him is that he isn't just another AI were the programming has gone wrong. The way I see it the Mind Stone served as a kind of a spark of life. Yes the bases of Ultron is Tony's programming, but thanks to the mind stone Ultron is elevated from that programming into an actual person. That's why his plans aren't always strictly logical. He is very much driven by emotions. First and foremost, he wants to make himself godlike, by first creating the next chapter in human evolution (what ends up being Vision) and then by recreating an act of god, akin to the extinction of the dinosaurs. I mean there is still a lot more to unpack there, but I definitely think that viewing Ultron as a simple AI gone wrong does him and the movie a disservice.

"It was the Mindstone all along!" It orchestrated all the events of the first Avengers movie, this movie, and the events through WandaVision - in fact the entire Infinity Saga. Tony notes that it's a conscious entity in AOU and the only reason he'd think to incorporate this unknown entity (that has shown malevolent influence in the first movie and that the Collector explained predates our universe) into his "suit of armor around the world" is because he was under the stone's influence through Wanda's hex. The scepter by itself could also influence behavior, as seen in the Avengers. WandaVision showed the Mindstone come out of the scepter and CHOOSE Wanda after countless subjects had died from touching it. It approached, revealed itself to her, and showed her final form as the Scarlet Witch. Then it set about creating a body for itself through Tony and Bruce who created Ultron who then made Vision and placed the Mindstone in his forehead. Wanda is fixated on Vision after his birth (and vice versa) and we know the rest. (Later, Monica Rambeau - who got her powers via the Hex - is also fixated on Wanda. All got powers from the Stone. Coincidence?) Even Thor admits that he's motivated by the vision Wanda's hex gave him, stating "I had a vision. A whirlpool that sucks in all hope of life and at its center is that," while pointing to the stone in Vision's head. "Their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself: they all came from the Mindstone." If this isn't a giveaway to the reality that a force greater than Thanos was at work, I don't know what is. Tracking the scepter's movements from Thanos to Hydra hints there's definitely an invisible hand pulling strings in "an intricate game" as Thor said at the end of the first Avengers movie. Right? That wasn't Thanos; it was the Mindstone. Wanda Waximoff is the avatar/consort of the Mindstone. In Civil War she was able to control it; in Infintiy War she destroyed it (no one else but Thanos using the stones themselves has destroyed an Infinity Stone) and in WV she said that a part of it lives inside her, out of which she created her hex Vision and had "children." Tell me this wasn't a courtship/consummation with a cosmic being? Then in MOM she sacrifices herself on that altar in Wundagore temple. That was an altar to Chthon, not a throne. Does Marvel know what they're doing with Wanda, making her the potential avatar of 2 godlike entities? Can anyone refute any of this above? Yeah, it could be just my overactive imagination. 😁 Love your channel, Ryan!

@papajcina 6 жыл бұрын
I'd say the mind stone had a big effect in Avengers 1. In the scene where they're fighting each other, where Banner says "We're not a tean we're a chemcial mixture that creates chaos", that shot ends with the camera zooming on the scepter, going behind it and flipping the shot upside down, implying effect on the Avengers. So it's the stone that further divides the team with it's powers. Tony touches his forehead and looks like he just woke up a couple of times in those scenes. Like he's unwilling snapping in and out of it's grasp. Same for Banner he unwillingly grabs the scepter and everybody snaps back to reality

AofU reveals that Tony Stark has already seen the endgame with Thanos, not in the literal battle scene ot dialogue or finale, but in the threat that is coming. His perceived irrationality at even the thought of something or someone so powerful coming to Earth is what ends up breaking the friendship between Rogers and Stark. Rogers believes that will enough willpower and effort, he can overcome anything or die trying. He is the literal soldier, ready to fight anytime in the present, but unable to anticipate the future. He waits for the enemy to move before moving himself. Think of any action he makes in any movie, always reacting but never anticipating. Stark believes that instead of waiting for things to come to him (or the planet), he anticipates, creates, and prepares for the likely eventuality. As Wanda states on why she let Stark have the sceptre, "I knew his fear would consume him." Think of any movie after Ultron, where Stark mentions, "I'm trying to stave off something worse", in that instance of the Accords but in truth Thanos or any perceived enemy to come. Even the FDR pens was an anticipated peace offering to Rogers. Ultron exposed that the Avengers each have their own agendas, each their own way of doing things, and when push comes to shove, they will likely collapse than corral. And they do, until they've lost everything.

I think we can disagree on the symbolism of captain americas vision. The pattern of the visions with the avengers are that they’re living their nightmares. Widow with the red room, tony losing his friends, Thor destroying his own people and such. Captain America’s vision was “the wars over Steve, we can go home.” Caps fear is that war will end, and his use won’t be needed. Which is why he was not able to pick up the hammer. He craves war no matter how long he fights to end it. That’s just the theory I agree with. What do y’all think?

Ultron is actually my favourite Marvel movie, but I completely understand why a lot of people think it's a weak link. Thor's arc is nonsensical and jarring (not to mention jarring after Marvel gave up on what Ragnarok was supposed to be and gave it to Taika Waititi), but everything else is fantastic. The fight scenes are inventive, the characters are all at their best and the writing is incredibly fun. I get that people think it has too many quips, but if I'm walking into a Joss Whedon film I'm 100% on board for quip city. Ultron is an interesting villain too, even if his plan is a little generic and his motivation is equal parts murky and cliche. James Spader brings a gravitas to him that's utterly intoxicating to watch. His scene with Vision at the end might be one of my favourites in the MCU. Vision too is a fascinating character, far more compelling than Ultron and a well-earned role for Paul Bettany to thrive in. Overall - loved it.

so why does Ultron think that the avengers need to be out of his way when they both have the same goal (save Earth) and what does Ultron really want, like his deepest thought being exposed to the light (public)? Is he a difficult character by structure like Thanos or is he simple, but executes his thought in a difficult way to make the watchers confused or think about the movie? Also, did Tony write in his brain or memory that an unstoppable being will destroy the earth and he (Ultron) needs to protect earth at all costs, but forgot to write to Ultron that it includes protecting humans as well as the avengers themselves, if not then, how does he know?

Ultron was built to protect Earth (from aliens) but he sees humans as a possible destroyer of Earth. So he wants to evolve himself and kill the human race to start over. He starts with killing the Avengers first, recruits the twins to help him do so. He stops making jokes after he doesn't need to appeal to humans (the twins) anymore. Creates Vision as his perfect form. Creates a meteor because of how quick and easy it is. Kidnaps Black Widow to lure the Avengers to Sokovia, so he can show them their failure. The 3rd body got destroyed by the Avengers and Vision.

Why is Tony Stark’s mom the woman in the red room with Black Widow when she was a child? 🤔. I also think Heimdall is or has the Soul Stone. Both the soul stone is orange and so are his eyes plus he can see everyone (souls) in all of the universes.

Can you imagine HULK listening to either S.O.D. or Slipknot?? Haha!! He'd be raging out on his own mosh pit,haha!!

There's a cute gag in the beginning of the Edward Norton INCREDIBLE HULK. He's channel surfing and avoids anything that would get his heart rate up. News, sports, a fight; settles on Sesame Street.

Awesome analysis of the movie, can’t fault it, but the mind stone wasn’t really explained like the other videos in relation to the film as the title suggests
