You want to optimize for conversions or conversion value in Google once you have had time to reduce your CPA and optimise your campaign.
After that making the switch is fine, but NOT before then.

How about if you have a client who has history of conversions but the cost has been high year to year . I started a new campaign and left conversions cos open not sure. 🤔
