Advice from a gal w naturally curly hair that’s about the same curl pattern as your perm: get a wide tooth comb! I use it instead of a normal brush and it helps keep the curls nice and together

I didn’t know this for so long because my mom straightened her hair every day so I didn’t even know I had curly hair genes, my hair was a frizzy mess in middle school bc we didn’t own a wide tooth comb, I still cringe to this day😂
@michelle.g75 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I also have the same curl pattern and I detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb while I have the conditioner on. It is so much easier that way! Also, dry your hair with a microfiber cloth or a cotton cloth while you scrunch it, this will decrease the frizziness of your hair throughout the day.

friendly tip from a fellow curly head 😁 : when you wrap your hair with the towel, it's best to use a micro fiber towel or t shirt if you have curly hair cuz a regular one will make ur hair more frizzy. also to avoid more frizz it's best to rinse out your hair with cold water because hot water will make ur hair more frizzy as well. anyways tho , i appreciate your comment in the beginning of ur video it made me happy to hear from you 🤗💕

“Having a perm is hard.” Having wavy-curly hair is hard. And you’re SO right, everyone always tells you to straighten it. Thanks for the initial message, asking people to lift people with curly hairs up, because the “straighten it” thing for a long time (still but less) made me feel complexed and I wouldn’t leave my house without straightening it before. i have naturally curly hair i’ve struggled to control it my whole life. i just thought my hair was frizzy until i started following the curly girl method and realised that it was actually curly! my curl pattern is quite similar to yours and instead of brushing my hair i use a wide-toothed comb in the shower as it will keep my hair relatively knot-free whilst clumping my curls together. water reactivates the curls so that they form in a better pattern and by brushing your hair after the shower you lose a lot of the formation. i also use a cotton t-shirt to dry my hair with as a towel strips your hair of a lot of the moisture it should be keeping to stay frizz-free. also, you mentioned that curl cream left your hair feeling crunchy? that cast can be really beneficial to keeping your curls lasting longer as it solidifies the way the curls have formed. after this crunchy cast has set you should be able to scrunch it out so that there is no longer a crunch. i hope some of this might help you to start loving your perm as much as i do! (((:

Hey Avery I'm not really sure how perms work but I have naturally wavy/curly hair and just something I would do different: don't use terrycloth towels to dry your hair. It causes A LOT of breakage and frizz. I dry my hair by flipping my head down so that I'm facing the ground and scrunching my hair upwards (just like you did) but with an old t'shirt or a microfiber towel. The fibres in traditional towels cause the hair to get snagged and ripped out. Also, I find that brushing out my hair while its still wet and I'm in the shower gives me the best results. Just though I'd share ;). I love how the curls look on you so much btw so so so cute.

Your perm is my natural hair texture. I totally understand your struggle. I usually will blow dry my bangs out of the shower because they are about your length in order to get them to "behave" and flow into the rest of my hair. Then I will twist my hair around my finger so it spirals in large sections away from my face as it is air drying... it is a game changer. You will have big beautiful curl clumps and it'll be an amazing spiral shape. You can make tighter curls with smaller twist sections or big loose curls with big twists. Definitely recommend!

@Abco7345 жыл бұрын
My Advice: (I know this is unwarranted but it could really help to elevate your perm, even though it looks good already!) For a very small “curly” hair routine, 1) Shampoo/condition normally, then rinse thoroughly. 2) Apply small amount of lightweight, leave-in conditioner (especially one that repairs damage), on wet hair, detangle in the shower with a wide tooth comb. 3) Use a microfiber towel or t-shirt. 4) Once out of the shower, apply light, leave-in curl activator, followed by a bit of a light gel, let hair air dry. 5) Once hair is dry or mostly dry, use a tiny amount of a hair oil, serum or elixir to scrunch out the crunchy gel cast. 6) Voila! Soft, defined curls. (: Also sleep with your hair in a protective style like a braid, bun or high ponytail. You can change the order of some of the steps to better suit your routine/hair. For example, apply all leave-in products in shower then towel dry excess product and air dry, detangle when you get out of the shower, etc.

Your perm is so pretty :) Tips from a naturally curly person whose hair is similar: 1. Use an old cotton t-shirt or a micro-fiber towel to scrunch your hair, normal towels break your hair and create frizz. 2. My hair also tangles very easily so I brush through it with a wide-tooth comb. Not only does it detangle, but it can actually help clump curls together (a Denman can also help) 3. also, a really good curl gel and cream that doesn't crunch is from "not your mother's" curl line.

A couple curly hair tips! Get a satin pillow case or a silk scarf to tie your hair up at night. Don’t use a towel on your hair! Use a cotton T-shirt or a microfiber hair wrap. You can also “plop” your hair (curly girl method) I know you said you don’t like to diffuse but it makes your curls look so much better. Not everytime you wash to protect your hair from heat but if you are wanting to make sure they turn out exceptionally nice diffusing is 👌🏽 also Diva Curl makes the best curl products that don’t make your hair crunchy. After your hair dries you scrunch it to break the cast and it makes your curl pattern last so much longer and look nicer longer

i know wide tooth combs help with detangling but still keeping it curly
@supertatertot975 жыл бұрын
You probably won’t read this, but as a naturally curly, I can give some tips. Brush in the shower or finger detangle or use a wide tooth comb any of these should be done with conditioner still in your hair. Add more curl cream (you want it crunchy when dry) and maybe gel or mousse on top. Apply all products upside down to soaking wet hair still in the shower. Scrunch our excess water with a microfiber towel or t-shirt, not terry cloth towels. And don’t put your hair up in a turban with the towel. You can “plop” instead you absorb excess water, KZbin it to find a good explanation. Wait until your hair is COMPLETELY dry and still crunchy, then flip your hair and fluff at the roots and scrunch the crunch out. I hover diffuse (check out the Manes by Mel tutorial here on KZbin, it dried hair quick and without too much effort). If it’s not TOTALLY dry before scrunching you’ll just separate the curls and get frizz. Education about curls is the best way to get the best curls! Thank you for helping people realize curly hair is not as easy as waking up and having flawless looking hair ready to walk out the door with.
