It's funny, it's like Terence died and was reborn on the internet. His ideas have now reached so many. He used to come into the cafe I worked at on the Big Island. I had no idea who he was until just before he died. I lived on his old property (in this video) 5 years ago. It was quite an experience! Friendly reminder to respect the native ways when it comes to these things.

@@grainofsand4176 I'm sorry to say we did not vibe at all, maybe even clashed. The last time he came in though I had just listened to Art Bell's show about him and learned he was dying and that he was incredibly brilliant! I left him alone on the lanai with his girlfriend and simply put Israel Kamakawiwo'ole on the stereo. When one of the waitresses found out who he was after he passed she said no wonder they had such interesting conversations! I had taken him as an egotistical professor type and I just wanted to be a groovy young hippie. Lookinh back, he seemed stiff, but his trippy tshirts gave him away. Too bad, but since he died I ended up living on his old property and I have really connected with him in some kind of way. I used to barely be able to watch his videos because of the tone of his voice. Now, really it's like music to my ears. I think you just get used to it and it's just part of his vibration. His brother Dennis is still at it and his voice is a bit easier on the ears. ☮

@Heloise O'Byrne I should learn more. That is true. I must read some Carl Jung. I don't read enough. Too much time engaging in shallow arguments on social media. I would ike to think there was something else for us, but I can't. I consider myself with a reasonably good level of intelligence. But nah I can't grasp the spiritual thing. About 4 years ago my sister got an ear infection. I kept shouting at my her for cleaning her ears out with cotton buds. It was a very bad infection. She was so stubborn and would not take my advice. I could not emphasise enough how dangerous it was and that she must get medical attention soon. Then a few nights later my sister went into some kind of seizure. We called the paramedics and they placed her into an induced coma until they could assess what was going on. Basically she was already dead by "brain-stem death" but we had no idea at that point. The doctor said it is very rare but my sister died of meningitis of the brain. My mother had the decision to turn off the life support. My sister died in strange circumstances. She was just 38. She was engaged to be married. And excited about becoming a grandmother. She was a ray of sunshine. The party girl. Full of life and energy. Loved by all she truly was. Sorry it's depressing but my point is where did she go? If it is all synchronised then what was my sister synced to? Because the only thing I can compare it to is a PC shutting down.

I would wager you have gone from one extreme spiritual camp to another. Is it not possible that there are parts of both schools of belief - religion and psychonautic experimentation - that are correct? Personally, I would not pretend to be certain either way. @py_a_thon

I am not so sure that is a great way of viewing the concept. Our minds could not even have an opinion without the ability to perceive time. And although we lack the ability to perceive consciousness outside of the realm of time...we can attempt to infer. What does consciousness look like without time as a factor? Would consciousness even have meaning at that point, or would it simply be an infinity of algo results? That comment took me maybe 3 minutes to type. Those 3 minutes are equal to N oscillations of some atomic structure that we use for synchonization of time perception.

I shave to totally agree with Terrence, saying reality is far more strange than anything we could imagine. The things I’ve heard and read in books like ‘Seth Speaks’ and in books about the indigo children alone, talk about reality in a way I couldn’t imagine in a million years. Before my NDE last year, I was bored with my life. I had been everywhere I wanted and done most of my dreams and didn’t care if I died, cause I believed I’d accomplished everything too soon. Now, I realize I could live a million lifetimes and not experience most of it. This realization has made my life much more interesting then I thought it would ever be again.

That was great, thanks Russell ! More Ram Dass please, he really helped me find myself. In a weird way, Ram Dass cam into my life when my brother sent me audio files at the beginning of the 90s. Years later, I learned from my uncle that my father, deceased when I was 13 years old, also listened to Ram Dass in the 60s-70s before I was born. He recorded him talking on the radio and played it again and again to his brothers and friends, so they could better understand life and reality. It became a deep connection to the father I lost in my youth, before I could talk philosophy and spirituality with him. So hearing Ram Dass is like sharing a moment with my father.

The mind moves only because it is attached to something, So do away with what is dear to the mind. Withdraw from attachments and decide to return to Awareness-Being-Bliss by keeping Quiet. I literally have always felt the urge to lead life by that deep feeling of energy. Yet largely pushed it down, masked it, or ran away from it. I feel this connection pretty strongly across many different fields of interest, but am having a hard time narrowing in to a clearer picture (or rather, a picture my tiny brain can conceive). It leaves me feeling frustrated and crazy. 😵‍💫 but I’ll keep searching and listening because I’m not built to ignore the feelings. Anyway, hope we keep going with all of this. Thanks again Russell!

“Time is believed to be composed of the past, present and future. Of these three, the past is past only in reference to the present and the present is present only in relation to the past, future is future only in reference to the present. So all three being interdependent, even for their very existence, it has to be admitted by sheer force of logic that none of them is real. Therefore, time is not. Experience is the only criterion by which the reality of anything can be decided. Of the three categories of time, past and future are not experienced by any, except when they appear in the present. Then it can be considered only as present. Even this present - when minutely examined - reduces itself into a moment which slips into the past before you begin to perceive it, just like a geometrical point. It is nobody’s experience. It is only a compromise between past and future as a meeting point. Thus present itself being only imaginary, past and future are equally so. Therefore, time is not.”

So the universe is like a tapestry and we all have our own thread (like purpose) to add to this every increasing masterpiece. Of course, instead of a tapestry, it could be a colourful carpet, now in my mind, I see our creator riding a magic carpet through the universe haha, oh Russell you've sent my mind spinning haha!!

J.B.S. Haldane: “I have no doubt that in reality the future will be vastly more surprising than anything I can imagine. Now my own suspicion is that the Universe is not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we can suppose.” From the book "Possible Worlds", I believe. So, no, Mckenna was not the first.

Didn't someone say reality is stranger than fiction long ago? It's all universal, and that's all McKenna was ever saying anyway. He certainly didn't claim any ideas as his.

Terrence is my go to guru for reality and time conceptions, he came across and created time wave zero , through I Ching. He worked it through to 2012 , then time hit the 0 wave, which was of itself a huge conundrum. a phrase he said about it was this’ “ things just keep getting nuttier and nuttier”

We KNOW that time is altered in certain situations, right? Extreme stress, OBEs, NDEs, taking tests, being in love,, daydreaming, sleeping... Those are instances we know time has frozen, slowed, slipped-past...And we know that our consciousness is the thing that perceives time, so certainly PERSONALLY changing our consciousness will "change time". What if we all paid attention to that? Directed our conscious thought toward it as often as we thought to? Are there gangs currently up to this? How can I join? And in the spirit of time-ripples overlapping, I have to first say how utterly happy I am that you're doing all these KZbin things, I truly enjoy your perspective. And secondly, I wrote a book 20 years ago that's never been published, in which you star, called, Russells in Time. It is, of course, about time travel, and features a you which certainly no longer exists. Time is weird. Thank you for being in it. :)

The drop-anchor metaphor. Wow. My thoughts have only jumped up and skimmed this idea a few times, but you have grabbed on fully and explained it so well. Also, 10:27: "You imagine Realities and you bring them down." WHAT?! What an epiphany! Thank you for putting your understanding in layman's terms for us who are levels under you:)

im 27 and trippped a lot in my life, but tonight i tripped harder than i ever could have began to fathom, it was horribly painful for the first hour in a way i cant describe , disgusting and beautiful. but Terrence McKenna and his insights into time as a phenomena that is intimately related to consciousness is just. Terrence McKenna had somehow experienced true infinity thru altered states, the kind of states where frequencies and harmonies and lights and waves come to manifest themselves as perceptible to you as if thru osmosis.

Love you Russell! No other “celebrity” is like you. I don’t want to name you by such, because I know there is beyond so much within you that you wish to offer than to be named as such. I’m meaning the real Russell. Human to human. Regardless, your intellect and your words are forever inspiring to me. I mean that. I found you because of your name. But listened to you because of your words.

Awesome 👏 I fervently believe that we collectively create reality through, thought, action and imagination. If we or any one of us can perceive it then it can materialise into reality. Imagination and desire is the key, the more of us who operate on the same frequency with the belief and longing for positive outcomes the more likely that is to transpire.

Russell, at the end you asked us to comment on who we would like to see on the show. I would love to see Gabor Mate again. That was a strong, strong episode. And of course, I'd also be ecstatic to listen to Eckhart again. Hard to interview though. The man is a modern sage, and his words are as close to truth as language can get, but he sure gets on a roll and can just cruise for 40 minute stretches without any sort of jump-in point😁 He's ET, man..... in the world but not of the world

I agree, this topic leads right into Synchronicity. Which is my belief of proof that their is a divine power leading us...or it could be us...but I have astral projected when I went to 12 & 12 rehab in Tulsa which proceeded a traumatic event, I was nearly a month sober, a Christian looking for any meaning to a shattered reality I had perceived...and I was immediately aware of another part of me. I highly recommend people interested in these topics to attend a guided meditation, even as a skeptic it worked for me. But not everyone is made to attune to this sort of thing.

^ ^ Oh Wow Russel! you covered a lot of things there. The story that you told about the carwash is really about "Syncronicty" or if you are a "tripper" its possible to trip without taking any substances. I know you have given all that stuff up which is good because you got to the next level! I love how Terence says " interference patterns" I think that is a clue to understanding the nature of reality Foxy Love VVxx
