I live in Tyler, Texas. A few blocks from our famous outdoor municipal rose garden, there is a street in a neighborhood. The neighborhood was originally platted in the 1800's, built for black people at the time to be an ideal area to build their homes. One day, residents woke up to see several black Union soldiers, still dressed in their uniforms, hanging from a tree. The street where this occurred was forcibly named Confederate ave., by the white government. It remains named Confederate ave. today. There is no plaque or official historical documentation about it. I went through checkpoint Charlie, two weeks before the wall came down. It was horrifying. Every school look abandoned. The paint was peeling off the playground equipment was torn up, rusty, broken on all the waterways. They were military with machine guns on boats, and on every street and corner they were military with machine guns. Blocked market was huge for American money so you could exchange one dollar for whatever they had and you could go to prison and east Germany for life. There was no color everything seem to be gray and tan. The bombs that happened during the war that destroyed buildings. The buildings were still as they were not repaired. Everything was in decline. Everything was extremely expensive and they were guards in front of every shopping place you could go into. It was horrifying. This is what project 2025 wants to do.
