I work in an auto parts factory north of Toronto. Companies like mine and corporations love international students. They are a source of cheap, slave labour. They come in through temp agencies who pay them in cash so no one can trace how many hours they work. They work hard and long hours for less pay.. so big business loves it. You can't blame them for coming here to have a better life. But the downward pressure they put on wages and the upward pressure on housing is a problem for Canadians, especially on the lower end of the socio-economic ladder. As usual, the government implements policies that benefit big corporations at the expense of most Canadians.

International students pay much higher fees, and their education is not subsidized by the Canadian government. They actually bring in billions of dollars to the Canadian economy. That's why this program was started in the first place. It benefits Canada more, and these poor students are taken advantage of on many levels.
@V_for_Vovin
@V_for_Vovin Жыл бұрын
@@nazoko5 You haven't clued in yet that these international students (this one specific demographic) are gaming the system. They are willing to pay that increased tuition because the human trafficking rings that bring them here and register them in these programs are already putting them in heavy debt ($70,000 seems to be the average). They get into these school programs to gain permanent residency (citizenship), that's the reason, not because they plan to integrate and be productive for society. And then we have stupid politicians like Eby who remove that barrier and straight up allows them to work just for being a student, essentially giving them permanent residency just for arriving here. So now the pressure on gentrifying housing and the job market becomes even greater, not to mention that they take up seats in school programs that they have no real reason to complete anymore, just so they can get a job and pay off their debt and send our wealth back to their real homes.

Young adults have to live with new people, figure out how to do daily tasks themselves, find a job, pass courses. If you dont like it go back to mom and dad's house. Thats lfe when you are a student, international or otherwise. The international student targets were set by Harper's government, Trudeau's government kept that train rolling, and the NDP are pushing for all the bloated salaries at exploitive colleges (public and private).

International students are coming to study, and are supposed to provide proof of income for housing, food & basics. If they’re here & complaining about not finding a job…Canada wasn’t bringing them over here for that. We have a housing crisis, and a job crisis. Sure the govt bags about creating jobs, but that’s low paying jobs without benefits, and poor working conditions. But when there’s an economic, housing & employment crisis here…yeah, stop bringing immigrants & international students over in droves until there’s more stability. That’s common sense policy…something this current govt is vastly under qualified for.

Until 2020 (pandemic), most Canadians would have proudly & quickly said Canada is a great place. For multiple generations (young & old). It still is in many ways. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately. During the Covid lockdowns, many people in apartments (or major cities) went nuts wanting to buy homes everywhere (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs have soared too. People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc.. Simultaneously in Cda, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum SKYROCKETED. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Ontario) around 275 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students skyrocketed too. Averaging around 1,096 per day in 2023 alone. Hospitals then hit with many wanting free healthcare. Less drs/nurses etc., means greater waiting times. A severe housing crisis has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes. Almost all humans trying to migrate to Canada have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Unfortunately not all players have acted honestly over the years. False asylum claims. Foreign 'agents' deceiving students for $. Plus some Canadians, a portion with ties overseas, became greedy and started doing things to make $ off of people's desperation. Then this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion happening in Ontario and BC. All stemming from affairs in the Asian continent. Hate crimes went from rare to occasional. Canadians are not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA). Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed ... and for all people to be okay. Everyone I know is HAPPY with Canada Immigration's recent changes. INCLUDING multi-generation long-term Asian Canadians.

We have 3 Canadian-born children. Two are adults. After graduating from Queens, one moved to Germany for grad school and has no plans to return. "Dad, he said to me, "Why would I want to live in a braindead country committed to flooding the labour market every year with hundreds of thousands of people from India and China under the guise of "multi-culturalism". Canadians are not so much polite as they are smug and passive aggressive. This is all about money. Canada is not a country. It's a business pure and simple. " Our other son is an engineering student in Quebec, and speaks French fluently. If Quebec goes the way English-speaking Canada is going, he's leaving for Europe or the United States. "Yes, it's crazy in the U.S. but at least the place stands for something. And there are large swaths of the country that offer a decent lifestyle. Canada pays poorly and ...dont get me started about immigration and housing prices.' So all you people in India.... Please come to Canada for a better life. We'll be making room for you in that we're all leaving the country.
